Water

Mmmmmmmmm..............be honest that's not what most of us think. I have to admit I am not a water person I would rather drink anything besides water. Since starting my new healthy lifestyle I have set a few short-term goals to help me meet my long-term goal of losing 138 pounds. One of these goals is drinking water, in order to drink 8 glasses a day for me I had to quit drinking all other liquids because I just did not drink that much liquid to begin with. Lucky for me I have never been a soda person so that was not something that I had to give up. I consumed liquids like skim milk, Kool-aid and orange juice. I'm sure your thinking skim milk, that's water anyways and I thought orange juice was good for you. Well, if I have to limit myself to less then 1500 calories a day, I am not going to be drinking those calories away. So I made a decision to only drink water. I started out with eight glasses a day. After a few weeks it got easier and my body got used to it and I am no longer running back and fourth to the bathroom. I now drink 14 glasses of water every day and have learned that all those times that I thought my body was hungry it was really thirsty!

Here are some ideas to help you start drinking more water:

  • If you are a soda person start by replacing one soda a day with two glasses of water, after you have done this for a week the next week replace two soda's with two more glasses of water. Before you know it you will be drinking plenty of water and you will have given up your soda.

  • Tell yourself in the morning that you have to drink two glasses of water before you can eat breakfast

  • Drink two glasses of water before every meal

  • Drink one cup of water every hour

  • Try drinking Decaf Green tea or putting lemon in your water for a little flavor

These are just a few things you can do to help get your 8 glasses of water a day. If you have any other ideas or suggestions please blog them here so that other people can try them.
