

Have you ever noticed that a lot of chubby people have a hard time saying no? We can be sensitive, kind, and incredibly people pleasing, which is convenient if you are not the one who is trying to
• work late at the office to finish the important project that no one else could stay for
• pick up one child from school at the same time you need to get his sister to soccer practice
• stop at the grocery store to buy refreshments for the team because your neighbor "didn't have time"
• fix three different menus for dinner because your teenager has decided to become a vegetarian, the rest of the family wants spaghetti and meatballs, and you are trying to follow your diet plan
• edit the church newsletter and get it to the printer by deadline
• listen to your friend's rant about her ex-husband's new girlfriend
• advise your sister on which outfit she should wear on Saturday
• check on your mother because she has been forgetful lately and left the stove on overnight a few days ago

It's been a long week. I did pretty good during the week, but was once again got caught up in the hustle and bustle of our family's weekend activities and the temptation to just order pizza for dinner. I didn't go to the gym. I feel like I've been saying this a lot lately. One minute, I think I have a handle on it, the next minute, I don't. There's no getting around it, staying on track is a full-time job and I've been taking too many vacations. So once again, I will get back on track.

Mmmmmmmmm..............be honest that's not what most of us think. I have to admit I am not a water person I would rather drink anything besides water. Since starting my new healthy lifestyle I have set a few short-term goals to help me meet my long-term goal of losing 138 pounds. One of these goals is drinking water, in order to drink 8 glasses a day for me I had to quit drinking all other liquids because I just did not drink that much liquid to begin with. Lucky for me I have never been a soda person so that was not something that I had to give up. I consumed liquids like skim milk, Kool-aid and orange juice. I'm sure your thinking skim milk, that's water anyways and I thought orange juice was good for you. Well, if I have to limit myself to less then 1500 calories a day, I am not going to be drinking those calories away. So I made a decision to only drink water. I started out with eight glasses a day. After a few weeks it got easier and my body got used to it and I am no longer running back and fourth to the bathroom. I now drink 14 glasses of water every day and have learned that all those times that I thought my body was hungry it was really thirsty!
