My Goal For 2008

Hello All,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am doing well. After a whole year I still struggle on a day-to-day basis; mostly with anxiety over things I can’t control. This week I have maintained my weight of 159 pounds. Although my goal this year is to lose one pound per week with a goal weight of 122 pounds by the end of the year. Thank you to everyone that wrote in with questions or comments. I hope you all will join my friends and I on SparkPeople.

CHALLENGE:

Short-term goals help you reach your long-term goals. I would like to challenge all of you to pick a long-term goal and several short-term goals for this year.

EXAMPLE:

If your long-term goal is to lose weight, write down what you need to accomplish this. Drink more water, exercise 20 minutes per day, cut back or stop drinking soda etc... Those are just some ideas to help you reach your goal. When you are done hang this paper up where you will see it at least one time everyday.

Thank you to everyone for your support!

Kristi (aka Mrs.Honeycomb)

Think hard core! No exceptions. Think - "I question why smokers can't quit. Now. Why can't I quit (eating this, that, or the other thing!)?

Reading your post is great motivation. I tend to lose focus on the fact that I need to try reaching my short term goals first. I always look at the long term goal and it is intimidating. Thanks..Chargail

Hey Kristi,
It is such a life-time struggle to loose weight! In 2001 I went as far as to have Bariatric surgery. Although I am much smaller than I was before surgery, I quickly learned how to sabotage myself! I did loose 100 lbs. However, over the last few years I have gained 20-25 lbs. back!! I have sevier degenerative osteoarthritis in both knees (any wonder, after standing on my legs 10-12 hours a day, 5-6 days a week for 15 years with all that extra baggage). Anyway, I have begun excercising again and I am starting to loose some weight and tone up. I feel much better physically and mentally. I wonder why we forget so quickly how much better we feel when we do exercise and eat right?
This year, my goal is to loose 60 lbs.! Yes, that is alot to loose. But I know my knees would thank me for it. I would send you a picture to post but I don't see a link to do so. Wish me luck as I do you!
Sincerely
Chris Maestes

Keep up the good work. my goal is to lose 70lbs. I,ve started walking and swimming at the wellness center. The eating is sort of difficult. I quit smoking after 50 yrs. and i want to still eat AND smoke. I have increased my veg. and fruits and fibers. Now if I could decrease some of the sizes of my meals. I really don,t like alot of those fancy recipes. Just wanted to share my story. Just keep up the good work.
