Committed

"There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results."

When I read this quote last week it made me really think about whether or not I am interested or committed............It was that moment that I decided that I need to work on being committed once again. So that is what I did this week. I worked on being committed instead of being interested.

I made a long-term goal of losing 38 pounds this year and then I made a list of short-term goals that would help me reach this goal.

Things that will help me reach my goal are:

-Getting up at 5:30 am so that I am allowing myself the time to exercise

-Being in bed by 10:30 pm in order to allow myself the proper amount of sleep

-To exercise 6 days per week at least 30-40 minutes (more if time is permitted).

-Drink green tea. If I drink 3-5 cups of Green tea everyday, it seems to help me stay on track.

-Running a 5k on my treadmill one day every week also helps me stay on track ( I try to improve my time each week ).

-Staying within my recommended daily calories and eating 5-6 servings of fruits and veggies.

This week I did all those things and I am still at 159 but, that is ok because I am going to take the advice of a very wise fish and "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. . ." You're doing great. "just keep swimming, just keep swimming." -Dory Finding Nemo

For me, the big difference is INTEREST is something that is done to or for you, COMMITMENT is something that you do for yourself. . . Taking charge (responsibility) for the quality of your life. Your commitment is a gift of inspiration to all those whose lives you touch. Thanks for the gift. Keep up the great work! You're a good swimmer ;-)

I think your "saying" on commitment came from a wonderful person named Linda Spangler who has written a few books, one is Life is Hard, Food is easy and another is 100 days of weight loss. She can be found at www.weightlossjoy.com

A picture of what you want to look like helps keep you motivated too. I keep one of myself B.K. (before kids) and am working my way back to it. With luck, determination and help, I should make it by the middle of July. You can do it Ellen, every little step takes you closer to where you would like to be and remember, YOU ARE WORTH IT.

Kristi you look fantastic! Although the scale may show the same number you are not seeing that as an obstacle but as a reason to keep moving forward, really great! I like the long and short term goal setting idea, think I may borrow that! Nicole1071
