Hey Ellen this is more of a question than a post. I'm a wounded soldier that was blown up by a roadside bomb in Iraq. I escaped with my life, and barely with my limbs and a little burnt. My best friend jeff was also hurt (part of his ear blown off)but other than that I got most of the injuries. I was burnt on my arms, face, hands, and my leg was blown completely in half hanging on by muscle tissue, and tendons. I was missing 5 inches on my tibia (shin) and my fibula was broken as well. I didn't know my leg was broken until I got out of my gun hatch on my gun truck and layed on the roof. I lifted up my leg and it folded in half at the shin. The doctors weren't sure if I was able to keep it or if they were going to cut it off. But luckily enough they used stem cells and cadaver bone to regrow the 5 inches I had lost. But now I battle pain on a daily basis and I can't do a lot of the things I used to do. I was an avid runner before I was hurt and now I can't run at all. It's simple things like this that get to me and now I question if I should have the doctors take my leg or if I should keep battling through it. I know this is a bit of a crazy request, but is there any way that you could ask Dr. Drew what he thinks I should do? I know ultimately in the end its my decision and I will have to make the decision eventually. But I really could use some input, I would even appreciate your input if you don't mind. Thank you so much and keep up the good work, your a great person and I really respect you. Thank you very much, Cpl. Jeffrey A. Reffner Jr
