Virginia,
I attended a taping earlier this month and wound up in the "riff-raff" room. (It was still fun!) There was a raffle in the riff-raff room for 10 sets of tickets for a "12 days of Christmas" taping. From what I understand, ticket's are not available or open for "normal" request's for those shows. It will be raffle winners, VIP's etc. Hope this helped.

Ellen trying to keep this short and sweet. You rock, your show rocks and it will be great to see Portia on your show as a guest. It is always enjoyable when the cameras give us a quick shot of the two of you together. Colleen and I just love you ladies. I am home on a medical leave recovering from surgery, so I have been watching your show. How great is it to see Brian Williams, Jimmy Smits, the Chippendales ... WOW!
You rock Ellen! You have given me something to look forward to every day, otherwise I would be bored to death. I am not one to sit around and I am normally at work when your show is on, so I never get to watch.
I love your DJ, I love it when you dance, I love how you rip on Chris Matthews! How great would it be to be you! You have so much fun all the time and you always close with a great performance! I WANT TO BE YOU!
I promise to always watch your show when I am home sick!

To those of you who are "disgusted with" or "no longer fans of" Ellen's because of her "abusing" her celebrity, or using her show as a platform to voice her political views, here is some food for thought:
1. Ellen is an artist. It is the FUNCTION of art to comment on society, whether it be in the form of a painting, a sculpture, a documentary, an essay, a stand-up comedy performance, a movie, or a book. Ellen, Charles Dickens, Picasso, Homer, even Dr. Seuss--all of these artists, in one form or another, have (or had) something to say that is personal to them; and NOBODY has the right to silence them simply because they disagree. Celebrities use their status every day to promote negativity and set bad examples. Ellen has not only the right, but the moral obligation as a responsible human being to use her celebrity to do some good in this world, to use her influence to help effect some positive change.
2. This country was founded by individuals, citizens who questioned their authority. Since well before our War for Independence, Americans have fought for tolerance and freedom of expression. Those who say that speaking out against a government, a leader, or a system that is sometimes flawed, show a lack of understanding of what it means to be an American. There is nothing MORE patriotic than encouraging, even demanding, our society to better itself. Who decided it's wrong, or un-American, to question this society, or our leaders? From President Bush to the average Joe or Jane Citizen, we are all human, and humans make mistakes. We sometimes allow ignorance, fear of the unknown, or even laziness to cloud our judgment. If the issue of slavery had been put to a popular vote at the time of the Civil War, the slaves never would've been freed. Sometimes individuals, even in the minority, have to have the courage to step up and take a stand for what is right. New ideas are often rejected initially, but they are nevertheless vital to progress. Oh, and we as a society WILL continue to progress, despite bumps in the road like Prop 8.
3. We as Americans--even we, ahem, "degenerate" homos--ALL have the right to be who we are. We ALL have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness guaranteed us so eloquently by our founders. We ALL have the right NOT to be treated as second-class citizens, second-class humans. The words of the Ignorant, Fearful, and Intolerant will NEVER be enough to shove us back into our closets.
This generation of gay Americans have said we are no longer willing to remain silent while we are bullied and discriminated against. Ellen Degeneres will go down in our rich history as someone who was brave enough to help bring about this change, and she should be proud of that. I know I am.
