I was just wondering why no Canadians can enter anything with regards to the Ellen Show when there are huge fans here who watch the program everyday. I even went to her show in Vegas and am very dissapointed that Canadians are not part of her show even though we are BIG supporters.

It was a joke and I really don't understand why ppl are making a bug deal about it. Ppl go into labour early and a lotta times things turn out ok.

No, Allison didn't go into labor, but in the last weeks of pregnancy, women suffer Braxton-Hicks contractions which mimic labor pains--not to mention the pains of Urinary Tract Infections which can hit you like labor, or if the baby starts kicking violently, that can be painful. I think there was genuine pain going on with Allison and genuine concern on Ellen's part--you can't fake that, no matter how good an actor you are--and I'm an actor so I can see the difference.

Did Allison Sweeney go into labor on your Show, it look like the interview was cut short?

Seriously? Sadly this was a joke and it worried a LOT of people. Guys, we would have heard already if she had her baby because these shows are pre-taped. I absolutely LOVE Ellen but this is messed up. This is what a guy said on another post:

Ellen always does a scripted joke skit before she gives away her "12 Days" gifts to the audience. She'll have 11 more "interruptions" like that over the next few weeks. It was a scripted bit. Ali was told to fake going into labor for the bit. Last year they had stuff like Ellen going to do a sword-swallowing bit, and just as she was going to swallow the sword, she got "interrupted" by the giveaway gift segment. In another segment last year, Ellen said she was going to shave her head, and just as the razor got close to her head, the "12 Days" segment interrupted.

I found an article nbcdfw.com/news/entertainment that states it was indeed a prank. I normally love your sense of humor, Ellen. But that stunt pulled with Alison was way out of line. Do you realize how many women go into premature labor and LOSE their baby? 2 years ago, one of my closest friends lost her first child that way when she was 7 months pregnant. We also happened to be watching the episode together. I wasn't aware that you like to kick off the 12 days of giveaway with any pranks. I mean you give the audience things every other show, so why the need to do that? Is it to set it apart from the "normal" giveaways of the rest of your shows? And if you felt the need to pull a prank, why not make it an obviously FUNNY one? By not letting us know it was a prank at any point in the show, all that prank did was bring up all the pain and heartbreak from my friend's miscarriage. We sat there wondering all afternoon, with my friend reliving her miscarriage. I'm glad there are people out there that thought it was funny, but it was all too real (and all to heartbreaking) for some of us. Either let us know it was a prank, or change the type of pranks that are pulled. I'm very surprised that you would do something so distasteful. I'm sure I'm not the only disappointed fan.

But I am also very glad that nothing is wrong with you, Alison, and your baby. Congratulations to you on your expanding family. I hope these last few weeks of the pregnancy are a bit easier on you. I remember how uncomfortable they can be. I can't imagine working 2 jobs on top of it.

We all know Ellen wouldn't of left her if she was in labor I'm thinking it was all a joke so they can get the gifts to the people in the audiance.You all gotta remember that Ali is an actress so she did pretty good if it was a joke she made it look very real but if it was Ellen would of stopped taping. I'm sure we will find out today what happend yesterday.

OMG Ellen if that was a joke with Allison that wasn't nice, I was watching it and said, what the hell, she just went on with her show, that's not like Ellen to do that, you should have pulled a different kind of joke, I didn't like it, and I love all your jokes.

Ok, so I watched the Ellen show today, and I admit at first I was confused! I rewound the show and then it hit me....Ellen said she had gifts for Alison, so of course Alison faked labor and the gifts had to go to who else...the audience.

Hope that helps people to realize they were just playing a joke to give the audience their gifts!

Alison Sweeny did have her baby and she did go into labor on the ellen show, Alison is ok. I just looked it up.

Hi Ellen just wanted to stop by and tell you what agreat job you are doing, your show is the best show there is out there.....you are so hilarious and you know it cause you laugh at your own jokes sometimes. I strive to not miss a single episode but hey no ones perfect theres been a few hear and there. But everytime is a blast. I do have one question...are any of your contests open to canadians? I am part of your fan group on facebook and today I was sent a link to sign up for the 12 days of christmas give away and didnt get to sign up do to my geographical location. Hey just because we live in igloos, wear snow shoes in june and say EH! all the time shouldnt be reason to stop us from being able to enter.....just joking!! Would a pair of fuzzy slippers help to warm you up to the idea of letting us join into the fun? lol. Anyways keep up the awesome job!!!

I watch EVERY Ellen show through the wonders of TIVO but have not yet seen today's show but am sure that the scenario you all are describing about Ellen walking away from Allison who appeared to be in pain and labor was part of her regular introduction to "The presentation of the gifts."

It made me laugh thinking about all the times I knew that Ellen would promise some kind of special funny/shocking news and we were all on the edge of our seats, couches, beds, etc as she started to tell us and then she would be interrupted by the doorbell and the music and the gifts!

Thanks Ellen. You bring each of us so much laughter and gratitude.

It was a joke people. If you noticed right before they cut to commercial Ellen was whispering something to Alison and I'm sure it had to do with what they did. Do you really think Ellen would leave Alison if she was in pain? I dont think so. Not to mention that they probably would have not even showed that part considered the show is taped and they would have cut it out and reshot that segment if needed. Anyway, love ya Ellen and Alison..I watch Days and The Biggest Loser all the time. Hope everyone has a happy holiday!

Hey you guys. We all know Ellen would never do anything so rude as to leave the girl there. If this was serious, I am sure she would not want it filmed for the entire world to see. Ellen has a whole groupie staff of assistants who certainly has the know how to call 911 and handle such an emergency. I think that someone in Ellen's ear realized that she was having trouble (dont know why she came out) then advised Ellen to move to the next phase. Please dont put my girl Ellen out there like this. If you all are real fans - you would realize it. I just as well as everyone else would like to know what happened and I am sure it will come out but dont bash Ellen or her staff. They had to make a decision and a good one for everyone involved. You go Ellen - I applaud you.

1. If Allison was really in labour - ellen is not going to sit there, pat her shoulder then deliver the baby! The show only had a while to go, so they weren't going to keep the camera there and film her labour...or whatever it was. So gift alarm goes off, ellens runs to divert attention and staff take Allison off and give her proper help. AND how can ellen tell you what was happening when she had no clue herself. You may hear about it next episode i'm sure.

2. OR it was a joke. But i don't think so.

i hope that alison sweeney is alright i too am ia big fan of hers if it was a joke it was a rude & crude joke i can't believe that you would walk about from someone that was having difficulty wheather it be labor or any type of pain if it was a joke you should of informed viewers of what was going on either way

Ellen watch your show everyday but because of a hearing loss to both of my ears I now have to rely on closed captioned. Now watching the show today it looked like Allison was having a hard time and was in a lot of pain. You got up and left her there (why>?) just so the audiences could get presents so maybe the closed captioned part did not come up on my T.V. when you told us all that she was OKay.

If you are a true watcher of Ellen you would have to know that was a joke. Ellen would not have left her if she was in labor. Come on people.

Hi Ellen we were watching your show as a family today and we were concerned with what happened with Alison. Ellen what were you thinking when you stepped over Alison withering in pain. What is your problem, Ellen? Alison was pretty much doubled over in pain and you just left her? She could have been in labor! I was really concerned about her the whole rest of the show and they never went back to her or told you what happened to her or anything. I really hope she is okay because I am a big fan of hers.
