I just wanted to say that I was extremely disappointed to hear about proposition hate(8). I am not gay and I do not live in CA, but I absolutely adore you and think that you do amazing things for people every day and it kills me to know that you are now hurting inside because of narrow minded bigots. I have been a fan of yours since you were doing stand up and even watched your tv show, Ellen. I was pulling for you on this thing and my heart sank when I heard the news. What I don't understand is why people even care. You being gay doesn't hurt anyone. It doesn't affect their healthcare, their jobs, their life. I feel like it's a stupid religious opinion and belongs no where in the constitution. I hope one day this will all be behind us. I mean for God Sake, we just made history by voting in a black president. When are we as Americans going to start fully living by what the Declaration of Independence states: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal..." Hang in there Ellen. I love everything you represent and from what I can tell, you are good people. From one of your biggest fans, Shannon Patrias

Greetings!
Today was incredibly schizophrenic. On one hand, I felt amazing elation learning that Barrack is now president-elect; I'm quite certain that if McCain won, I would have started to dig myself a hole. And I'm not even an American citizen [shout out to Melbourne, way better than Sydney].
Although, my spirits started to resemble the demeanour of a kicked dog when I learned that prop 8 was voted through and Brooke Smith’s sudden, suspicious exit from Grey’s. Today, progression took two steps in two opposing directions. I am uncertain what prop. 8 will mean for you and Portia, and my thoughts are with you both. I am disgusted that prop. 8 even occurred, and right now, it is practically the equivalent of telling every married couple that their marriage has been annulled overnight. What disgusts me further is this hysterical use of bible quotes. My general rule of thumb is the more a person places emphasis on the word-for-word text of the bible, the less they truly understand it. Brooke smith’s exit, and the patchy kick-it-under-the-carpet attempts at dispersing the potentially genuine lesbian/bi subplot smacks of homophobia [note, abc is owned and run by the Walt Disney group]. It just makes me angry in a tired-not- again type of way.
Anyway, keep up the good work!
