All of us were clergy in different denominations- except the celebrant- which we though was very funny... and it was so perfect. Doesn't marriage feel differently than you expected? You are both so lucky to be able to have one another. I am a blessed women of 37 years with a great husband and three beautiful kids, but when I see the two of you together, I know that is really what is right for me. I guess I have always known, but the world expects one thing, and I just went that way. I remember watching Portia in Ally McBeal. She was so beautiful. It was hard not to feel a connection with her, of course that is why they cast her, along with her amazing acting talent, she was one to rope em in! I am so happy for you Ellen. I can only imagine what you feel when you look at your wife, another women and feel so complete and whole. It was a challenge for me at times since my Mother was and still is very demanding and set in her ways. But through the grace of God I raised my twin daughters and step-daughter with love as the focus instead of fear and prejudices. My daughters and I were one of your biggest fans of the "Ellen Show"; it was great. I was so proud of you for coming-out in public on your show. I know at times you probably felt like you paid a big price - but all changes come with pain and with someone willing to take a chance and open their heart and feelings. I know you went through a lot of pain at that time. But look where you are now - and remember all the people you've helped. I am happy to see that being gay hasn't stopped you from showing the world your love for each other. I have a gay friend and he is the nicest person ever. There is no reason to fear gay people and there is nothing to be ashamed of in being gay; who is to say being gay isnt natural just because a child cant be conceived naturally. It takes away the protective liberties of religious freedom on which this country was founded. The constitution has stood and governed for centuries, why should a small group have the right to change something that the whole does not want. I agree with you on the rights given to blacks and sadly it took too long. Individually they should be given their rights. And I'm not opposed to gay unions, however, when those unions try to infiltrate into mine, and the majority of the Californians who have spoken, that's when we stand up and say enough already. This has been put to the test twice now, and both times the people have spoken. Ellen and all the other gay unions can live as they like and here in CA they have all the rights and protections of a heterosexual union, the point is we, the people, don't want to call their union a marriage. A marriage is between a man and a woman as God planned and ordained it. OK?

It just remind me of couple of events in American history:
1) the black people should be happy to be seated in a bus even if it's not in the same part and with the same confort as white people
2) interacial mariage was considered not long time ago to be a threat to the american society and hence was forbiden until less than 50years ago. Did US collapse? => your new president is a child of a interacial mariage.

I would prefer someone standing for his ideas against gay mariage because of it's religious believes than someone pretending to like gays but at the same time preventing them for having the same full rights as straight people.

I just wanted you to know that my husband and I are both absentee voters and we sent in our ballots on monday. We both voted no on prop 8. So that's two, from california. We just celebrated our 18th aniversery yesterday and we feel that everyone should be alowed to enjoy the love in their life that we have had in ours.
I look foward to seeing you both in heaven. I believe in my heart that you will be there when that time comes. There are so many people out there right now trying to judge you but I'm sure they have no right. You see your relationship with God is private and no one can say he does or doesn't approve. I chose to believe that he brought you together and he believes in love of all kinds.
Those who are judging you right now have probably not taken the time to review thir own choices and mistakes that will keep them from heaven.
Oh did I mention that I was raised catholic and my confermation sponser was gay. He taught me so much about love. I also have a bisexual daughter, whom I love no matter who she choses to marry. I'm just so glad that you guys get a choice now.
