Hey Ellen and Portia,
I was so excited to hear that you both got married. Ellen I watch your show everyday, and someone like you, that is always willing to help someone in need you deserve to be happy. You show that there are other people in the world that you care about. Ellen and Portia you inspire me, and you really touch my life. I am gay, and I have a hard time dealing with people around me. My family especially. I was adopted into a religious family, and to them being gay is an abomination.I thought god loves everyone. Well, anyway I am very happy for you both, I watch the different videos of you, and each I will have enough courage to stand up for what I believe will make me happy, and tell my family the truth. I love you both. Ellen I will be watching you tonight!

Hello!
I just thought I would tell you how beautiful both you and Portia are. I was so excited about your wedding and I am not usually for following up on celebraties, but my girlfriens' mom told me about it and I had to leave a comment. Even if it is a long time after the fact. You two are an amazingly beautiful couple and I wish you both the happiest years to come with each other! :)

How absolutely gorgeous you both look. And so happy. How can anyone be against "same-sex" marriage when they see the joy, not just you and Portia but the others who were attending.
I'm just curious. Is your little white doggie a Bichon? They are the BEST! I miss my best buddy bichon and plan to be getting another soon.
Major congratulations to you both and may you always have the happiness you so richly deserve.

hi ellen
love the pictures of you and portia you both look so happy. i wish you both all the happiness, and love in the world.
love the pictures of you pets too. there is nothing like a pet especially a dog to make a house a home. i had a yorkie her name was nellie, she was with me for 17 years and believe it or not she and i watched your show faithfully every day. i would pick her up and when you started to dance she and i would dance all over the family room she loved it. everytime you would give something away i would say look nellie look what ellens' giving away and she would run to the steps and look to see where you were. unfortunately on december 3 she took very ill and i had to put her to sleep. i miss her with my whole heart and soul she was truly my best friend.
i will never forget her and all the happiness she brought into my life.
i still dance with you it keeps me going, you keep me going, you have been good for me. you are truly a wonderful caring, loving person.
take care ellen be well ciao

Hey Ellen
I'm a 16 year old, bisexual girl who has watched your show for many years. It's hard to be a bisexual girl where I live, because people think I am being greedy, liking two genders. It's also difficult because I dress differently at school, wearing tuxedos and such.
Thank you for being so supportive, and fun.

Hey Ellen,
I have just finished watching your show and saw the clips from your wedding. WOW!! You both looked amazing, I love Portia's dress.
The song that was playing in the backgourd was beautiful and I really would like to track down the name of that song to use in my own wedding. Is it possible to email me the name and artist of it?
Thankx a million

Hi Ellen and Portia, Ellen you have been my hero since the first time I caught your act on Arsenio Halls show, way back in the 90's. When I first saw you my gaydar, was activated. I have followed your career every since that nite. I am proud to be a Gay Woman in America, thanks to you more women are out of the closet and see that life can be wonderful. I was married for 7yrs. before I decided to follow the path,God had laid for me since I was a little girl. I and my mother had always none that I was different. She never stopped me from playing with boy toys, they gave me what I wanted for Christmas. A Ken doll to date my sisters Barbie doll, army men, baseballs, basketballs. They loved me as their child as do my other 3Sisters and 1Brother. My life could have been a disaster,as it turns out it has been great even to this point. But You beening the person you are,has made a big difference for a lot women who did not have the family support I had. My parents are deceased (r.i.p.),but I am still enjoying a pretty good life. I have I daughter and 3 Grandsons, and I donot hide who or what I am. You made people realize, that we are all the same and basically want the samething's in and out of life. I told my daughter, when she was 9yrs. old that I was Gay. Her response was,I wish you weren't,but it doesn't matter you are my Mother and I love you anyway. She has always been mature beyond her years! I just get sad when I think of all the men and women who are gone or live in a lonely place in their hearts, because of their family and societies inability to love and understand them. You and Oprah, have made large strides in allowing people into our World. That is why you are my Hero, as well as my Daughter(Davina 33 yrs.old). One should not just have 1 Hero,I have a few Heroes, but you are one of the ones at the top. Keep doing what you are one day at a time and eventually the racists, bigots and homophobic people will be out numbered. With this historic election,we look like we are winning the race, though the race is not even halfway over. I love you and your way with people. I would have been proud to have attended your wedding, but I wasn't invited!LOL Peace Out One Proud Les to another Proud Les!! Ps there is a new movie about us,talk about on your show if you get a chance. It will be in a threater in Culver City,Ca. Feb. 10,& 11, I will be there hope to see you and Portia there. I will get a chance to meet one of the actors in the movie,I have been communicating with on my space. Its called "Family"
Dear Ellen and Porcha
I would like to say what a beautiful wedding, iam
so happy for you both,we here at down under think
you both are amazing, fun anf share the most beautiful love that two people can share,we watch
your show when i can can,i sneek out in my showroom where our tv's are on display at work,
just so i can see you and get the laugh that keeps me going for the next few hours that are left in the day,it was my actual daughter that told me you were on tv and tht she can't wait
for that time of day to watch you,she is now sad
that she has gone back to school and can't watch
you,we have to invest in the recording box so
she can watch it all the time, well it,s time for me to go take care and a bg gidday to all your staff on your show

Thank you so much Ellen for being a positive example of an out lesbian! The very fact that you are so mainstream helps everyone (gay and straight) be more loving towards others despite any perceived differences. You have done more for the gay rights movement than any other person or organization to date. Personally, I loved your sitcom, and it helped me to come out. Continue doing what you do. Thank you again so much! You and Portia look very happy together, and I wish you continued happiness! :-)

Hi Ellen & Portia,
Just wanted to say I have never seen another couple show there love for each other like the two of you do, except my partner of 6 years Kathy. I enjoy seeing two people love each other just through their eyes. Kathy and I have this game of seeing if we can see the love in people eyes and we have found 1 other couple like us. Not that we are around a lot of poeple but we look when we go out. We live in Maine, 40/60 miles from Canda.
We can not wait until the day Maine allows everyone to marry and I only wish our wedding is as beautiful as your was. Enjoy life, be happy.
My love always,
Brenda
ps. I watch you show every time I can. I clean houses and when you are on I have to stop to laugh and sometime cry. Thanks for caring about normal people.

Ellen -
Love the pics and you!
It will only be more time and money to get Prop 8 over turned and others can marry as well. There are enough wonderful and talented gay americans that will fight to get equal rights. When enough people get to know a gay person, this issue will not exist and we will put this issue in the archives of American history just like other awful civil rights violations.

Dear Ellen & Portia: Absolutely love the pictures. I don't care what anyone says, as long as you're in love and happy you will find peace in yourself. I left an abusive, alcoholic husband after 19-1/2 years and have been on my own for 2-1/2 years and have peace within myself. Don't know if I will ever find another man to be with, but don't care right now. I am just enjoying my life and my grandchildren!
May God bless you both!

You take my breath away Ellen. I enjoy every piece of you that I know. Congratulations to you both!! LOVE PEACE & HAPPINESS!!!
words can't even express the feelings I have for you and your success and the personality from you that I am familiar with. You two are very lucky!! Lots of Love. xoxox
p.s. Hope you take in all the good comments and leave all the dumb people comments behind. I think if they had that big of a problem with it, they wouldn't even be looking at your photos. They are just jealous they can't be as great as you.

Dearest Ellen and Portia,
Just to let you know, I will always love, support and pray for your inner joy, peace and good health. I'm so happy that you both could finally get married last year.
Anyway, i share the same birthday as Portia but i'm about 7 years younger than her. I kind of understand her innermost feelings for you, Ellen. You are indeed very lucky. Please never stop loving and caring for each other until the end of life.
Well, may this year bring much love, strength and blessings to your marriage, career and health always.
Congratulation on your recent people's choice award, you deserve it so much. Like most people, I love your TV show a lot! But on top of that, i love your wonderful personality. You are a very strong, loving and kindhearted person, Ellen. The world won't be the same without you in it. Hope one day, I'll have the chance to meet you and Portia in person because you both have inspired me in many ways about life, joy & love. Take care! And, I love you & Portia always...

Hey Ellen and Portia, just cant get enough of your pictures. They are the most beautiful pics. i have seen in ages. I read some of the comments from other people and some of them dont seem to be happy about you and portia being married. Well, i wish you too the best! The 2 of you look so outragiously happy. I sure hope its not true when some of the comments say you dont really care about none of us. Just in case you really do, just to see, can you give a shout out on one of your shows to Sherry in illinois. I love you and your shows. You make me laugh and you have good shows. Congrats on the Peoples Choice Award last night. Keep being funny and dance!!! Love you Ellen!

I am a Pharmacy Tech from Talbott Tennessee, my daughter and I have watched you on TV since you began comedy and your TV show series. We love your values and appreciate all the wonderful things you do for people. Everyone needs a little happiness everyday. You make that happen for so many people. I record your show cause I have to work. I wish you a wonderful New Year and my daughter works at the VA hospital in Johnson City Tenn. and she will be glad to know that I actually went to a site and attempted to post a comment. This tech stuff gives me a little problem. I would just like to learn to work my cd player to play a movie on my TV. My daughter gave me the movie Mama Mia for Christmas and I couldn't get it to play, that is how sad that is I just would like for something to just press play and it majically work. Oh well i am rambling and you are sooo very kind. I wish you and your wife lots of happiness and you could have a child you know, that is gods greatest gift..
Love to You

Dear Ellen, I have a sister with whom I am so very close with and she called one day just sobbing her heart out, she had found out her daughter was gay. I don't know if she was crying because she felt she did something wrong in the way she raised her, or if she had some concerns over what people would think, (mostly our family) but I simply asked her "does knowing this make you love her any less" her response was "no" so what is the problem? It is only a problem if you make it one, I love her no matter what she is still my niece, who are any of us to "judge" anyone's preference in their choices for a partner for life. I admire that you have not felt a need to hide your preference and I love your show. Its certainly one of the best if not the best one on air at this time. Your always so upbeat and funny. Thanks for all you do. Wishing you both a very long and happy life together. Tklaroz from Montana.

Dear Ellen'
What can i say that hasn't already been said? Nothing.I can say this, your show, when ever i can catch it, is like medication for my soul. Sometimes i wonder" where has my joy gone". On 12/18/08 I was depressed and i went online to your website. There was a place on it where i could click on and watch a video for the aww snap game. I laughed so hard i began to cry. I Thank you for that. It put joy in my heart and a smile on my face. It's a miracle how little things make such a big difference in someone's life. Keep on doing what your doing, bringing the joy to the hearts and the smiles to the faces of poeple all over the world. You never know who's life you may be saving.
As for your wedding pictures, they are beautiful. I have never been married. I am single and have been for some time( by choice ) but i pray that God will put someone in my life that will put a smile on my face everyday we're together and
love me as much as you and portia love each other.
Stay blessed and continue to bless others.
Sincerely,
Monique in Texas

Congratulations on your wedding. I have been married 46 years and can't imagine if someone said I'm not married anymore. They can't do that! Once you are married, they can't turn around and say you aren't anymore. They may be able to prevent others but unless you say so, you are married. I hope that the fight continues for others to have free choice if they wish to be married. Lots of luck in the future.

I've been a faithfull fan and record your show every day. I'll be retiring next year and hope to be able to be an audience member in 2009. You make me laugh out loud and I know it comes from your heart. Keep up the good work to make this a better place for all of us. I wish you the best in your new marriage and also hope the rest of this country will come around to appreciate nice, fun, giving people like yourself. Can't wait for the new first family also. You're both leading us into the right direction!
LOVE to you!

Your wedding was beautiful, just wanted to share with you, that my Niece and her partner did get married here in Illinois, the service was great, everyone enjoyed seeing two people so in LOVE. They went ahead and began a family with a mutual male friend and a turkey baster.....The 3 of them are really a wonderful family. Everyone does except them as just that. Anyone who knows them also sees that LOVE goes beyond what other people think and even if it isn't legal in alot of peoples eyes everyone knows that a legal piece of paper doesn't make the family..Best Wishes and LOVE you lots......Merry Christmas

To Andrea:
You are right about Kathy Hau expressing her opinion without hate. The only problem with that is, she is talking about people's lives and who they love. Why should she come to Ellen's website to tell her she is doing wrong in Jesus' eyes? Ellen is married to Portia-she doesn't want to hear that she needs to change her lifestyle. Being gay is not a fad that just fades away eventually. It is not like changing your outfit. People are born gay. He put everyone of us on this earth for a reason. God does not make mistakes. Being gay has nothing to do with being a "progressive thinker" either. Being gay is what you are born with, just as being straight is the same thing. The problem is: why should anyone care who the hell we marry? That is strictly our business and not some strangers who walk into a voters booth to decide. They dont pay my bills or taxes. How dare anyone vote on who I marry. How dare you?

Dear Ellen; I think you to belong, with each other!I love you to for just being you! She is so lucky,to have you,I think you are too!I hope that me and my spouse can be.Everytime we saved a little bit of money it had,to go to bills. We lost are home car.and van because of my work injury. Then my son was killed by a hit and run.I have applied to the Today show for those weddings but it's a dream gone bad.I wish you and Portia,so much happiness, you DESERVE IT! Love ya Ellen!
Hi Ellen,
Stunning photos!! I can only imagine just how beautiful your wedding album must be.
I hope the world will be free from discrimination and prejudice sooner rather than later. At the end of the day we are all human beings. I can't think of more inspiring words than those spoken by many throughout history:
"when the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace"
All the best for the future and the holiday season.
Keep on keeping on!
Il :-)

Not really sure why everyone is coming down on Kathy Hau. She was simply expressing her opinion and doing so without hate. It seems that if anyone these days disagrees with so-called "progressive" thinkers, they automatically point fingers and call people who do not share their viewpoint "haters".
To Ruby Dillon - how dare you wish God's punishment on anyone?

Dear Ellen:
I must say you have such a beautiful, warm spirit. I watch your show as often as I can. I always dance along with you. (my husband and I love to dance) I am a 60 year-old mother of three adult son's, two are twins, grandmother of seven (soon to be 8 in June, 2009. My husband James, and I live in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
It is a saying that I grew up on "laughter is the best medicine." I love it because you make me laugh, the most noted are the nonchalant expressions, I really crack up.
Keep up the excellent work.

Dear Ellen,
I really enjoy your show. You really are a very nice kind hearted person. The wedding pictures are Beautiful, you had a beautiful wedding. I can see, even in the pictures, how much love there is between you and Portia. I wish you both all the happiness in the world.
We have to hold close to us what we love, and makes us happy.
Being a single mother, I have raised a very good hearted son, and I love him with all my heart, and I thank god every day for bringing him to me, because I was told that I would never have children. He is turning 21 on December 23, 2008, and I am so proud that he is such a good person.
I could never afford much for him, but he always had everything he needed in life, and he tells me everyday how it never mattered to him, and he always had what he needed. We will always have this unbreakable bond, which goes so deep, and I hope you and yours will be able to have that kind of devoted love forever.....
Thank you for all your good humor, and enjoyment you bring to people. I know that you are a very wonderful person, and you are probably told that all the time, but I also wanted to tell you.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, and I wish you a very Happy New Year.

Dearest Ellen, I enjoyed your wedding pictures with Portia and congratulations..Everyone is so overcomed by Christmas, and I look at the beauty that we shall look at, The greatest gift we have is our life, and Love. and be reminded, when I hear I don't have have anything for Christmas, hey i know i don't either all I have is my son. My life robbed me from Christmas, but i am reminded I have him. I remember the poem by Rudyard Kipling "IF" and it keeps me going as well. I love Your show, and a great fan. Merry Christmas Ellen,

Dear Ellen,
You just crack me up! Every day (especially in the fall and winter months), I get to watch you at 4:00 p.m. while I am either cooking dinner or reading the daily paper. I love what you do for people...even tho I am not receiving any of the gifts you give away, I feel like I am a recipient too. I wish I could see you in person.
I coach a high school tennis team (30 yrs) in the spring and oh what fun it would be to have you play my girls...they are a lot of fun! I know you can play too. Heck, I might just play you but you have to spot me points (he he). I have an excuse.
Looking forward to seeing what you have in the next days to give to your audience..they are like little kids at Christmas time. It's so much fun to look at their faces.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year. I love your wedding pics.
Sincerely,

Congratulations Ellen & Portia on finding true love!
If one is lucky enough to find a soulmate and fall in love, at the same time, it is a beautiful thing. If we had more love in the world, there could one day be Peace. I'm so happy for you both and I know it means the world to you that your Mother is so supportive and loving. Sadly, some parent(s) are not so
embracing and compassionate.
My husband & I have been together for 20 yrs. & marred for 14 yrs. this coming April. In April of 85, I lost my dad. Then in April of 93, I lost 2 sisters & a niece within 2 wks. of ea. other. Two yrs. ago, my husband lost his step-mother in April. In Sept. of 99, I lost another sister and then in Sept. of 04, we buried by husbands' only sibling that he knew. He was murdered & the person hasn't been caught yet.He had a smile like yours that could brighten a room, as well as, a sparkle in his eyes, as do you. His parents gave away their children, so my husband has siblings somewhere in the U.S. which he hasn't seen or had a chance to know. We decided to get married at the end of April, so the month would end on a good memory and as a dedication to those loved ones lost, but not forgotten.
Some people take things for granted and don't count their blessings. We hope you & Portia are blessed with many happy years together. You both looked so beautiful & happy. We loved how you included your dogs (your babies) in the ceremony.
We are fans of you both...loved Portia on Ally McBeal. She has the prettiest hair. We love your smile and your sparkling eyes. We have lost a lot of loved ones and been through a lot of tragedies over the years, so we are guaranteed a smile & laugh, daiy, watching your show. We also have similar interests in organizations and love animals. We only have 2 dogs now, as 1 yr. ago we lost our beloved dog of 15 yrs.
Thanks for sharing your special day with your fans.
Keep on smiling, making us smile and laugh and, of course, dancing! Best wishes to you both for a safe and blessed Holiday Season and many happy years together!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! You & I have birthdays in a few weeks, so Happy Birthday a little early!

To Ron,
Great job standing up to Kathy.
To Kathy Hau,
you should be ashamed to call yourself a christian, and may god punish you for judging others. Maybe you should take a look around, life is already hard without people like you. GROW UP AND GET OVER IT.
To Ellen and Wife,
You both are absolutely beautiful, could not of had a more beautiful wedding. I am not gay, nor do i know anyone that is, but i love the fact people can be happy. There are so many bad things in this world, and when there is happiness there is hope. So thanks to your happiness, there is hope for the rest of us. Thank-You both for being who you are and do not change a thing.

I think it is amazing that you and Portia had the chance to have a ceremony with such elegance and yet laid back feeling, my partner and i are trying to have a ceremony here in Oregon, though sadly just like California it is not legal here, it is something that means alot to us and our families.. sadly we have fallen on hard times and are unsure how we can afford to have it.. but maybe something will come along and help us find our perfect day just like you had. Congrats again!

To Kathy Hau-
What is wrong with you self proclaimed "Christians"? People cannot change their sexuality-they are born with it. It is not like changing your underwear. People are born gay. You really need to pray for yourself that you may be educated a little on this subject. You may not hate gays, but you certainly have no clue on their lives & vote against them to marry when you get the chance. I am positive that God wanted gay people to have equality. Shame on you for getting in our way. Shame on all of you who voted against us. We will triumph soon.

Leave this lifestyle??? Kathy are you kidding me. I don't beleive that Ellen being with Portia is a lifestyle. I beleive it is her LIFE....and her choice to make it just really sucks that people in love can't legally be married..not legalizing marriage isn't going to make all the gays fall off the earth for heavens sake its just going to make us stronger....So go ahead cut us down and give us obsticles to jump over but don't be upset in the end when you see how strong we are.

I will continue to pray that you both will be able to leave this lifestyle. Being a Christian I feel it is wrong in Jesus' eyes and yet I love you both as HE does but pray that you will change.
And Ellen, you should not consider it hatred when people are against this lifestyle. Christians do not hate if they are truly walking with the Lord. There are unfortunately those who claim to be Christian but really aren't practicing what Jesus wants us to.
Thanks- Kathy

You are a fantastic person !!!!!
I like your way of being, your essence, your spirit, radiating a lot of joy, you have a unique look, there's something in you .... that makes you so special.
I admire you very much for being who you are, as they accept you for you, by all admit to your partner, having gills, and address all against all .....
I really love everything you can, everything you do, everything expires, you look beautiful with your partner, are beaming with happiness and passed .... UNICA are a couple.
Recently I see your program and from the first show I saw, I charm, you go to 6 am and always believe that I wake up 5 minutes before so you can see, I live in Torreon, Coahuia, Mexico.

Dear Ellen & Portia
Ellen love your show and i think love is love no matter if its for a female or to a male love is what the heart feels and i think gay people should have the right to show how they feel just like woman to man just because a woman loves a woman or a man loves a man dose it make it wrong i dont think so love is what love is and you go girl im not gay but i dont think being gay is wrong go with your heart and stuff the people that think diffrent you both look so happy and if i was gay then your some one i would love to be with your out there and funny too well all the best and you and your lovely wife portia have a merry christmas and a very happy new year

To Steve:
It really is about time some of these people wake the hell up. It is truly beyond me how anyone could care who we marry. I know I won't be quiet about it. I was one of the lucky ones to marry in California before they yanked it. I also recently received my Marriage Certificate from the courthouse. I'll be damned if they are going to take it away from me now. I was never an activist before. It's funny how things change in people when rights are given & taken away. When they start that religious crap (I mean the religious excuses)and how we are abominations, you just can't believe your ears. They apparently were not in Sunday school on the day the teacher told them it was a sin to judge. It sure seems like they live by whatever is most convienient. I agree with you 100%-Ellen is wonderful & a true "pioneer" for us. I'm proud of her (and of you for what you wrote). Billy

I see some of the stuff that you have put together and I think that looks like fun. I love to cook and do crafts I try but I still need help. I have to have help around the house and with to great teenagers boys and agreat Mom and Dad. That has done so much for me I am trying each day to do more. I just looked at your wedding photos - beautiful.
I love the mix of black and white with regular color photos.
My favorite is the first one with the dogs. It reminds me of my daughters wedding in 2005. Her and her husband had their wee dog Teddy as part of the wedding party and also did a mix of black and white photo's with regular ones.
I know by the love on both your faces that you will have many happy years ahead of you.
All the best to the both of you.

To those of you who are "disgusted with" or "no longer fans of" Ellen's because of her "abusing" her celebrity, or using her show as a platform to voice her political views, here is some food for thought:
1. Ellen is an artist. It is the FUNCTION of art to comment on society, whether it be in the form of a painting, a sculpture, a documentary, an essay, a stand-up comedy performance, a movie, or a book. Ellen, Charles Dickens, Picasso, Homer, even Dr. Seuss--all of these artists, in one form or another, have (or had) something to say that is personal to them; and NOBODY has the right to silence them simply because they disagree. Celebrities use their status every day to promote negativity and set bad examples. Ellen has not only the right, but the moral obligation as a responsible human being to use her celebrity to do some good in this world, to use her influence to help effect some positive change.
2. This country was founded by individuals, citizens who questioned their authority. Since well before our War for Independence, Americans have fought for tolerance and freedom of expression. Those who say that speaking out against a government, a leader, or a system that is sometimes flawed, show a lack of understanding of what it means to be an American. There is nothing MORE patriotic than encouraging, even demanding, our society to better itself. Who decided it's wrong, or un-American, to question this society, or our leaders? From President Bush to the average Joe or Jane Citizen, we are all human, and humans make mistakes. We sometimes allow ignorance, fear of the unknown, or even laziness to cloud our judgment. If the issue of slavery had been put to a popular vote at the time of the Civil War, the slaves never would've been freed. Sometimes individuals, even in the minority, have to have the courage to step up and take a stand for what is right. New ideas are often rejected initially, but they are nevertheless vital to progress. Oh, and we as a society WILL continue to progress, despite bumps in the road like Prop 8.
3. We as Americans--even we, ahem, "degenerate" homos--ALL have the right to be who we are. We ALL have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness guaranteed us so eloquently by our founders. We ALL have the right NOT to be treated as second-class citizens, second-class humans. The words of the Ignorant, Fearful, and Intolerant will NEVER be enough to shove us back into our closets.
This generation of gay Americans have said we are no longer willing to remain silent while we are bullied and discriminated against. Ellen Degeneres will go down in our rich history as someone who was brave enough to help bring about this change, and she should be proud of that. I know I am.

Dear Ellen and Portia,
I just looked at your wedding photos and they made me cry. The Lord seems to have looked down on you two and blessed a union made of love, compassion and togetherness. If that isn't a marriage I don't know what is. May you both be blessed with a never ending love. The love and respect I see in Ellen's eyes every time she speaks of Portia or looks at her is staggering. I have known love in my life and I look to see if that look is there. It has been twice and I treasured it. One ended in divorce but I have been married to my husband now for over 20 years. May you have the same staying power in your marriage. Now just one favor, please feed that woman of yours or bring her to my house, I'll put a few pounds on her. Just kidding, she is perfect.
With lots of love

Ellen, I just looked at your wedding photos again! I just wanted to add my comments to the rest. I don't think that you actually read all these comments, but, just in case. The photos are beautiful - as are both of you. I've never heard where you met - that might be a story that all your fans would like. I know that you were already gay. Was Portia? My partner (Sharon) and I have been together for 18 1/2 yrs. We think that it is great that you came out to the world. Maybe if more famous people came out it would show the world that there is a whole new group out there to deal with. I believe that gays are not being taken seriously because the politicians don't really know how many of us there are out here. Run for office and let us show them. Anyway, thanks for coming out. I hope that the two of you remain together and happy for the rest of your lives.

Hi Ellen & Portia
I use to be very against same sex relationships, that was until I watched and listen to you talk about Portia. You have such a twinkle in your eyes and you glow so much everytime you mention Portia. If you can do this it has to be true love so as I now see it sometimes you have to look elsewhere to find your one true love and if it means same sex relationships then so be it, Because everyone deserves a True Love.I also think Portia is a Very Beautiful Woman and you look so Good together. I hope to be a winner in your Christmas give aways this year ( Maybe 12/11/2008 ) will be my lucky day it is my 50th. Happy Holidays to You & Porcia and Remember Never Go To Bed Mad At Each Other.

Hello Ellen I just want to say CONGRATULATIONS! to you and Portia the pictures are beautiful and I am happy the two of you got the chance to become one. One day the law will figure out there are bigger problems out there then to worry about who wants to get married to each other, that should be the least of their problems but they like spending our money trying to figure out how to put a stop to the same sex getting married go figure!!!! Any way I have been with my guy for going on 14 years and thanks to you we are supposed to get married on 09-09-09 if everything goes well I want to do it in Vegas. It all started 12-13 years ago I cant remember, the day you came out with you being gay.. a few of us was watching your sitcom haveing a good time we loved your show and I remember a couple of them asked us when we were getting married and I remembered saying trying to change the subject, i will marry him when Ellen get's married.. over the years we might have talked about it a couple time's . but now one of our friends remembered what I said so we sat a date. so thanks Ellen I just hope I dont back out I think the two of you should meet us there and stand up with us....
hi ellen my sistr and mom adore you i love you too. congragulatoins with your wedding. i would love to get 2 free tickets to your 12 days of christams for my mom and sister

Dear Anonymous-
Aren't you just a naughty little boy? What kills me is that you have the right to marry & procreate. Please do the world a favor if you havent already done so...Please don't bring any children into this world. I'm guessing that you probably already have & that your poor wife is cooking dinner while your being a bad boy on the computer. You better go to church & say 10 Hail Mary's.

Hey Everybody,
This "Wade" Person is getting to much attention from all that care about Ellen and Portia, Lets just wish them the best in life and love and God bless you both, and the ignorant "WADE" GO ON WITH YOUR LIFE AND KEEP THOSE UGLY COMMENTS TO YOURSELF! Maybe someday you will find love and peace in your own life and leave others alone and stop being so judgmental. I personally have been an Ellen fan since her sitcoms! She was funny then, now and all in between. And I'm very happy for both of you that you found love and happiness, and wishing you both continued Love and happiness, you both deserve it. May God give u both all the blessings, you are both beautiful and you are only one ,we need more of you ELLEN you are to much, and so funny, you have the music in you GO, ELLEN!!!!!!!!!YOU ROCK!!!!
Hey Ellen, well first I must tell you that I absolutley love you!!!!!!!!! I have watched you for years and enjoy everything you do. Like you I am a gay woman and know the struggles that you and all gay people face each and every day. I am so glad you are out and proud, because of the way people seem to love you, maybe they will come around and realize that it doesn't matter if you are of the same sex, you can still fall in love and want to be with that person for the rest of your life without being a bad person. So anyway congratulations on your wedding and I hope the two of you have many, many, many years of happiness together!! Love ya, Debbie

hi ellen!
omg the pictures of your wedding are so beautiful
and for all the people that post horrible messages involving God and stuff, let me say something: God made us in a way that we could pursuit happiness, He made a girl and a boy and hook them up .. but that doesn't mean He'll be angry if there are same sex couples .. He wants us to be happy and spread happiness all throughout the world .. if you find happiness with somebody of your same sex i'm sure God will be happy for you too! God is Love, remember that .. He forgives.
congratulations and i wish the best to you and Portia :) i watch your show everyday, you're awesome! :)
greetings from mexico :)

Hi Ellen,
I am so happy for you and Portia. May you to have many happy years together.
By the way I have been a christian all of my life and know what i believe in same sex marriage! You are just plan ignorent if you take you hate and pain out on a person(Ellen) who at least had the guts to come out and tell the world that she is gay and to defend her right as a person of a same sex marriage.
So DON'T RIGHT ANYMORE STUFF ABOUT HOW SAME SEX IS BAD! BECAUSE YOU CAN PUT IT UP YOUR A**!
LOVE YOU SO MUCH ELLEN AND PORTIA!
SCREW YOU SUSAN WADE!

i am 64 and raised in the dark ages but you have brought light to the dark ages and should be the poster child for gay people as you prove love conqures all and thats the true life we should live by no matter what our life is about and be happy and love no matter who tries to stop it. you are the light of our ages.thank you for being you and thank your mother for being the real mother and may you enjoy!

You rock. You guys look so happy on your wedding day and thats how it should be.Its sad that we live in a world where people think they have the right to tell a person who to love.I dont know much about prop i know the outcome was not what you wanted but i hope it will keep your marriage to Portia legal. When i looked at your wedding pictures i can see and feel the love.At the end off the day the love is all that matters, keep love alive. When i watch you show it makes me laugh, dance and happy. you deserve happiness as much as the next person so just keep on doing what you been doing.Am happy for you guys and hope God showers you with all his blessings.

Someone always has to come in and spoil the moment, I happen to be turning 50 in February and my husband is 63 and we have been married for 22 years and have 3 kids and guess what Ms Wade I haven't left him yet. What difference does sex make? I just feel in a world were there are so many haters it is just a gift that 2 people can meet fall in love and commit to a relationship. Remember it is about mutual respect and patience and lots of understanding.
To Ellen & Portia, congrats you two are a beautiful couple and that beauty illuminates in everything you too do. God bless you.

Ellen & Portia,
You both are so Beautiful!!! I am so happy for the both of you. It's not always we find the right person to spend our life with. Congradulations on finding each other. I hope you have a long wonderful life together.
And for susan wade: You need to get a grip! Your just jealous that two people actually found happiness. Instead of putting them down and wasting your time hating, spend some time on yourself and maybe you'll find that special person for yourself. Have a Nice Day!

Attention Susan Wade:
You are a horrible human being for posting such a disgusting message!! You must be very unhappy. Stay off Ellen's website! She is successful b/c she is a wonderful, generous, and brilliant woman! People like you make me sick. Reap what you sow you miserable sorry excuse of a person!!!!

Susan Wade: Shame on you!

Dearest SUSAN WADE:
Boy, are you a sick one or what? I can see right through your facade. Your husband doesnt look at you in that special way anymore, does he? He doesnt appreciate your cooking or think that you're pretty anymore. You have been having those special "feelings" for other women (maybe one of your female friends that you go to church with). It makes you feel warm and fuzzy and yet very angry at the same time. It makes you feel like you must lash out at someone. That someone is Ellen right now...she seem's very happy and that makes you even more bitter-doesn't it? Well my dear Susan Wade, I'm sure there is help for you out there in your hateful, pitiful little existance, but for now, why don't you stay off of this site and go with your deep inner hidden feelings. Just remember: We will be victorious Susan-Good alway's wins over evil

Don't pay any attention to those "Haters". When people can be so cruel and insenstitve, it really goes to show how miserable they are. They can't see the beauty in something they don't have.
I wish you and Portia many years of happiness together.
Thanks for always being so happier and chipper on the show.

Same sex couples...that is sick. And, btw ellen, it may not make a difference now, but you are way too old for Portia. When you are 60, she will be barely 40. You will be an old hag, and she will still be young and beautiful.
If you must be so disturbing, and defy nature, please do it from the closet. I sincerely hope that this causes your show to be taken off the air. It is one thing to do something like this, from the closet, and yet another, to keep mentioning it while you are on national t.v. Again, here is hoping that your show is canceled.

Ellen,
you both make the perfect couple ever. When your show started this season, you could just see the sparkle in your eye in how happy you really, truely are. You deserve it so much Ellen because you make so many other people happy in this world just by watching your show and making us laugh every day. You are the break we take from these horrible economic times to laugh and forget for an hour. Thank you Ellen.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!!

Hi Ellen, your wedding photos stirred up great emotion in me and brought tears to my eyes. Both of you are so much in love. Your love is been accept and embrace by everyone who love you and Portia. I wish I have photos like that with my love one but what we have is forbidden love. Never to be accept by people around us. I'm going to celebrate my 7th Anniversary with my girlfriend soon . I already wrote, but since writing, "voice from a girl" came alone. Obviously, you are just a girl. I pray that someday you will know the God that I know. The God that loves everyone and created everyone. Do you feel that on your judgement day, when you stand before God, you will not be talked to about condemning your brothers and sisters and hating those whom God created and LOVES???? JESUS CHRIST died for all of us... not just the ones YOU feel are worthy. Where does it say that people are given the POWER to judge others? Especially with such hate! I don't want that responsibility! GOD IS LOVE!!!! Again, I pray that God will teach you and deliver you from such ignorance and hatrid. It's a shame that you feel it's acceptable to live your life in such a way as to hate ANYONE. Reading that posting made my heart ache. I often ask God to forgive those "Christians" who find it to be their job to judge and hate. It absolutely breaks my heart to know that people like "voice from a girl" have such power to push people away from God. If I weren't a Christian and I saw and heard the things those people say, I would not want any part of it. I hope that the multiple postings on here regarding God's love, will help redeem the stereotype Christians have.
I say again to Ellen and Portia - GOD BLESS YOU!!!! I am so happy that you both found the one you want to spend your life with. I know I did. And I ask "voice from a girl" and anyone else with that awful point of view... What if you were not able to marry the person you love? How would you feel? REALLY think about it.
I again had to make my feelings and thoughts heard. I can't imagine the type of "Christian" that would seek someone out to condemn them for their choices.

Hi ellen!! I'm writting from Colombia just passing to say how amazing it was that you had the opportunity to get married (congrats!). Here, we are still fighting for those rights although we all know that today is much better than those days where homofobia could easily be the footnote of a political campaign (like Prop 8). I love your show, but we are like 2 weeks late..... I think because of the subtitles.

Hey Ellen & Portia
Amazing pictures of the weeding, and my girl and I, who have been together for 8 years are off to Canada. We went to tie the knot but landed at the Caribbean Festival, we have such a good time we kinda got caught up in the moment and it being a holiday we are planning to go back to make it all offical. Sorry about Prop 8 and we will have to keep fighting for our equality. Ellen and Portia dont worry about tomorrow God is already there.

And looking at the wedding photos makes me ever more sad that i wich i could be in your positiona. As you know, the worlwide cridet crises and visa issues it's not as easy to travel back and fourth to japan..that where me and my bf lives. He works at this company called CLSA and i think they'e goin a roiugh time and because of that our relationship is goin down hill! more like on the rocks.. and he called last night and saying tha he called last night about not talking to me anymore! i was shocked and i dont know how to respond on top of that he says are you ok with that? then i said of crouse no..but then he hanga up the call..i think he just got back from the bar coz he donesnt sould straight"
and remembering those pictures of yours, i try so hard to keep cool and hope for the best.. i love him soo much it hurts and to know that it's over..i'm so heartbroken..and sooo loct i dont know what to do..i wont know what is goin on in tokyo now,,with all his friend, i hope the'll me if something is up so i could slowly get back on my feet..even how painful it is..

Dearest Ellen and Portia,
though belated - Most Heartfelt Congratulations to you both. You look so happy together - please keep the love alive!! (If CAN be hard work - but it is SO worth it.)
I don't quite understand where people from quoting the bible - a book that was written by some, undoubtedly intelligent, men a VERY long time ago. They may have had great intentions, but I just don't see that the bible is the absolute word of God. Homosexuality has been around for a whole lot longer - only our society has become more open about it. {Sadly some people STILL have not become more accepting!!!}
I, personally, tend to lose respect for people who proclaim out loud that they are Christians, and that "as Christians" they must "condemn" a man loving a man and a woman loving a woman. Exactly WHERE did they get that license from? WHO said that THEY could judge? I don't recall the part in the bible, their self-proclaimed book of laws, where it states that Christians get to condemn people who do not think or live the exact way they do. {Oh and WHY do they feel it necessary to make up names or post anonymously???}
God created us all. He created us just the way we are - and that's why we MUST accept the fact that there are all kinds of different people out there... at different looks, ideals and sexual preferences. I see it as an insult to all Christians for some to judge people by whom they love.
WHAT IF judgement day were upon those who judge in His place?
Thus, Mrs. and Mrs. Degenerossi, I am proud to be a contemporary of yours, and elated that you were able to make your union legal in the eyes of the law. The fact that prop.8 passed is a sign that even the perceivedly "Free Spirited" California still has a way to go. I hope the supreme court overturns the decision.

Ellen and Porcia,
Congratulations on your wedding the two of you make a wonderful couple.
Ellen, the way your face lights up when you briefly speak about Porcia makes me jealous. I am not gay. I have been in two different relationships with men and I would give anything for a man to show the same expression of love on his face when he speaks about me that you have when you speak about Porcia.
RE: a voice from a girl. Please learn to spell and realize that God is capitalized oh wait you should already know that since you seem to be a know it all when it comes to quoting the Bible.

Hello to the "voice of a girl":
Wow...sounds like a "voice" is speaking to you and you may be in denial. You speak on a subject you know very little about...GOD does not judge, so YOU shouldn't either. All gay men/women come from hetrosexual parents, just like you. GOD loves all his creations!

To: A Voice From A Girl-
Wow, so you know all there is to know about God, huh? Allow me to share a little secret with you...You don't have a clue what God is all about. If you knew the real God (not the one your hateful preachers taught you about), you would know that God is all about Love & Acceptance. Thanks for your ignorant comment on something you obviously know nothing about. Oh yeah, and thanks for your ignorant "vote" too.

Besos a ambas.

I really think if the man who had a baby tried to get married the haters out there would try to redifine what a man is just to suit them. I think being gay should be as important as having blue eyes. It doesn't matter so marry who you want. Does a woman who can't have kids make her a non woman and there for shouldn't marry? No. This world needs to progress more. There are more pressing issues. Lets protect our kids from predators, save the enviroment and let EVERYONE have the same fundamental rights. Its bound to happen so lets save time and money and just do it now.

Dear Anonymous,
You said it yourself (in your comment below): "He (God) is the one who say's how we are to live, the Maker & Author of us all." Well, with that being said, why is everyone else telling us what to do, who we can & cannot marry? Should'nt that be up to God? I would'nt think that would be up to another human being to decide. How dare anyone tell me who I can and cannot marry. How dare anyone judge me. Kindly let God be my only judge. He put me here on this earth (as well as countless others like me). He, like you said in your comment, did not make mistakes.

Everyday that I watch your show I can see how happy you are. This Prop 8 is a violation of our civil rights. The feelings we have are just of LOVE and our rights. No one should rule on that. This is our right as Americans.
I don't believe that GOD or your Higher Power would have created a love that could be wrong. Between women and women and man and man and woman and man. The people who judge this ruling are going aganist everything that is equal rights for all. Just let it be the same for everyone.
Let there be PEACE for all and happiness forever.
LOVE,
SHISH

Ellen,
We are so happy for you and Portia. We wish you the very best. We looked at your pictures and dreamed about our small wedding plans. Our wedding day would have been November 12, 2008.
We had a vacation planned for November 8 - 16. Traveling from North Carolina to California and the highlight of our vacation would be, we would get married while we were there.
It would be just the two of us. I told my kids, all adults. We had ordered and recieved our new rings. We were both excited because we never thought we would really get married. We had exchanged rings 10 years ago.
I had planned to surprise her by ordering flowers and cake, when we got there. I found the resturant we would have our wedding dinner at.
Then on November 5, I learned Prop 8 had passed. I called the court house and I was told it was effective immedately.
I was crushed, my heart ached. I could not call Sharon and tell her. How could I call and tell the women that I loved and have been with 10 years, that we would not be getting married next week.
I told her when we got home that night. We had once again been push down by people. We comforted each other in our lose of a legal marriage. But we had not lost each other or our love for each other. So as all tough skinned lesbians do, we bounced back.
We went on vacation. Had a great time.
On November 10, 2008, we exchanged our rings, we committed our love to one another again. People maybe able to change our plans for now but they will never be able to change our love for each other.
Our prayers are with you both and I only hope that in 10 years from now you are both as happy as we are.
Love ya,
Jean and Sharon

Ellen,
I'm appalled (as a fellow Californian) that Prop 8 passed. I just want to let you know that I am very disappointed in "Christians" right now. I myself am a Christian and with everything Christians are doing and saying, I find it incredibly hateful. Sometimes I wish God would smack them all upside the head and remind them that GOD IS LOVE and we are to love and accept our neighbor as ourself. I just picture God shaking his head and saying with a sigh, "You missed my point."
Whether or not someone agrees, they should remember that God loves all of us. What if He "didn't love" them for some reason? I don't mean for this to be "preachy" but I really feel the need to express that not all Christians are hateful like the ones that are on the street corners (especially the ones I've seen in Sacramento).
My main goal in voting was for Obama and for no on 8. I'll be praying that this turns around and people wake up. I actually found something that said "What if you couldn't marry the person you love?" and it broke my heart.
Your wedding photos are absolutely amazing and I almost cried when Emily Bear played that song for you.
Thank you for being such a strong person to fight this to the end. I pray that God gives you strength and rest in this ongoing battle!
Thanks for hearing my 2 cents.... even if you don't read this yourself, whoever else reads it, it's appreciated.
Amanda

I'm so sorry that Prop 8 passed. Too sad that society still is afraid of the "unusual".
You and Portia had a wonderful and spiritual wedding. I cannot remember the last time that two people showed how much love they feel for each other during their wedding. Just remember that no one can take that away from both of you.

Unice pics U go girls
Posted by susan | November 19, 2008 1:46 PM
Why is it that if you are against gay marriage that you are secretly hiding or afraid of them??
That is so not true.
I'm not gay nor hiding it nor do i have secret feelings towards another man. I am a Christian who serves God and believes in the bible and what it tells us as we should live.
God is not gay nor did he make a mistake.
He is the one that says how we are to live, the Author and Maker of us all and He did not make mistakes but it is true that Satan is fighting hard for us to follow the way that is wrong. He knows what we are drawn to and our own weaknesses better than we ourselves do.
I chose to love my wife and she may not be the first person i thought i loved but being in that relationship and seeing that it wasn't edifying to God it was ended and i moved on with His grace and found the one He made for me and am loving her to the fullest because that is the way it should be.
We as Christians are not hiding things nor pushing you away nor are afraid of you. I welcome you to my life and my church, please, come see what we are about.

Wow!! Great Photos!!
Congratulations to you both!! You are quite the handsome couple!! :-)
I attended a gay union ceremony for the first time in October and it was wonderful! My friends Michelle & Kate were so incredibly happy to finally voice their love for each other in front of friends and family. It was such a nice ceremony. I am not gay myself, but I totally support gay marriages/unions. I had a smile on my face that whole day when my friends were finally able to have their special day!
I am truly happy for both you and Portia, and I wish you nothing but the best in your marriage! High hopes for a long and happy marriage together!!

Ellen and Portia,
I am so sad and angry that you have to read some of these horrible comments about such amazing and beautiful day. How would those like it if perfect strangers told them that they shouldnt be married or comment on how they should treat their spouse. YOU horrible people have no right to say such things.
You two are a beautiful couple. I only wish the love you share could be spread around the world to quiet all the h8.
Posted by Kristel | November 17, 2008 9:37 PM
Oh Ellen, life is way too short to worry about what other people think or feel.
I find that LOVE is LOVE and that is all that matters. OH noooooooo more love? LOL
Most straight couples can't even stay married long
enough to TRY and make it work. I have been happily married for 21 yrs, I am 43 (female), and have two adult sons. My husband and I are totally still IN LOVE and not many straight couples make it to the STAYING IN LOVE stage. You are in LOVE, let no man or woman come between that. Keep the faith, hope and vision of what you desire, and it will be yours.
Remember, we create. Never lose sight of why you married, it wasn't for a wedding, it IS FOR LOVE.
No one can take that. NO ONE. It's not about the voices heard, it's about the vision being held
strongly. Each and everyone of yall. VISUALIZE

p.s. and to the person who keeps writting all this bs about ellen being gay i don't understand why plp like u have to make other plp feel bad about who they are just to make themselves feel better and what i find even more weird and sad is that u supposedly don't agree with gays but u seem to be ok with coming into this page and writting about it...so if ur so against it and all that crap why are u even visiting her page?

Dear Anonymous,
It's not science huh? You seem to know all the in's and out's of being gay. Are you that alleged gay who went straight that you speak of? If so, I'm sure you are a mess. Doe's your wife or husband know? I would hate to be them.

Me and my girlfriend have been together for 3 years and i love her with my heart and soul and one day i hope that we can be as lucky as you and be able to share our lives together with out people looking down on us! Whether people approve or not i cant help who i am in love with! So Thanks Ellen for showing the world that it does not matter what people think!

As Galileo said when persecuted by the church over his idea of the earth moving in its orbit (the church insisted the sun moved), "nevertheless, it moves." I'm a scientist and look at data, not at anecdotes or stories. If only people would study some resources about which they know not, go to a library and take out a reference book or look some things up, before opening their mouths, what a wonderful world it would be! We might then begin to act on reason and logic, instead of emotion. The reaction to my previous paragraph illustrates the emotional response very nicely.
Posted by Brian Myres | November 16, 2008 8:21 PM
That SCIENCE stuff you write about is all BULL CRAP! There is no scientific evidence that a gay is any different than a straight person in the brain or anywhere else! You choose who you are with and you can choose a man or a woman! I have known a gay who turned straight! So don't tell me it is science!
Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2008 7:58 PM
All evidence for homosexuality suggests that it is the result of differential timing and expression of hormones during development. The arguments usually have been either genetic or cultural, but everyone forgets the developmental process. During that process, concentrations of hormones and the precise timing of hormonal flow in the developing fetus can and does affect many things, including sexuality. As such, being gay is just one more expression of normal human sexual development (though not the "norm," which is different) and opposing rights or marriage for gays is just another form of bigotry that the society and religious groups should be rejecting. Let's use science and logic instead of superstition and archaic writings.

I am saddened about the vote against Prop 8. I hope your marraige stays intact and that it has no retroactive effect on it.
Marriage is a civil right for all the people. I support that wholeheartedly even though it is not legal in my country yet.
My heart goes to you and Portia and all gay people out there. You are not alone.

I have to agree with everone on the haters who come to this site, if you dont agree with gay marriage then dont come on a website that you know is open about gay marriage. I for one love the fact that they look so much in love and are not afraid to show it i wish i had been a little more open about my being bi-sexual i am now but i was afraid to show it like i was ashamed of it which for the record i am not because i am open about it now, i have a boyfriend and love him so much but he knows how i am and he accepts it and that the kind of people we need in this world. Ellen i love how open you are i just want to say thank you............I wish you all the happiness in the world........

It seem's once again that someone need's to save the world with all this rampant "Gay Marriage" and so called Abominations. Why in the name of God are you on this website? I would imagine that if it offends you or bothers you, you would leave it alone & pretend it isn't there. What is your interest? Doe's it remind you of the warm and fuzzy homosexual type thoughts that you harbor deep inside your mind?

Posted by barbie | November 15, 2008 1:30 AM
So why am I small minded for not agreeing with gay marriage? It is an ABOMINATION to God! It is a sin! Just like it is a sin to have sex before marriage is a sin. It was hard for me to wait, but I did it. Feeling like one is gay is just another trial God sends to see if we are true to him. Feel gay all you want, but once you act upon it, it is a sin!

Posted by CHRIS | November 14, 2008 8:47 AM
I love your wedding pics..especially the 1st one! You both look so beautiful and happy. My main hope is you will be very, very happy together and Prop 8 (I believe it is called) does not overturn your marriage.
I wud like to tell you that I was watching one of our Canadian 24 hr news station, when your dear sweet mother came on regarding same sex love. It was on, I believe, for about an hour and interviewed different people...it was really good.
I don't know if you know it or not, but Canada has legalized marriages between same couples (in every province). And guess what....it has not done any harm to the rest of us!!! Within the last year, we had a major politician marry..he invited some of his political friends ... they showed up. It was mentioned on t.v. but noone went crazy. To tell you the truth, most Canadians don't know our politicians sex preferences or religious beliefs and a very high percentage of Canadians don't care! I just wish that the States cud see that it does not hurt 'the sanctity of marriage'.
All my friends and family love you and really wish you and Portia much happiness
Love,
Shirley Chan

Ellen and Portia:
Hi! I just looked at your wedding photos again and you both look so beautiful and happy and that makes me happy for you.
Never mind what the small-minded people post here - they are clueless and don't know any better. You two rock! Keep on keepin' on. You can always come and live here in MA.
Love,
Dee

I just wish my husband would like at me the way you look at your wife. There is so,so,so, much love when you look at each other. As for your mom? all I can say is that I ADORE her, she has a wonderful spirit and I wish most parents would be as proud of their children as she is of you.
Always be blessed and thank you for being you and also for sharing your wedding pictures. You make a beautiful couple.
Muchas, Muchas Felicidades y Bendiciones.

Ellen, I cried tears of joy when looking through this gallery of photos. Portia looked amazing and so did you. Super mega happy Congratulations, even if it is a little late. I've been so busy with college that I didn't even think you had a website we could look at pictures of your wedding :) (silly me)
I'm hoping to get married soon...Soon as in after I get my Bachelor's degree and my boyfriend gets out of the Marine Corp (which is in 2 1/2 years!) So maybe you can have a wedding show in 2011 :D I hope I can have a personal family wedding just like you did because that's what's most important :) I love you and Portia together and I hope y'all have a life full of happiness, joy, love, and prosperity forever. You're a wonderful couple and an inspiration to all of us to strive to be great and faithful partners. You're amazing!

Hi,

Congratulations to you both, Portia and Ellen! Beautiful photos! Wishing you many, many happy years together!
And thanks so much for continuing to speak out about Proposition 8. Your marriage is valid and continues to be valid. (Yours just happens to be valid with legal paperwork to boot!)
It was a bitterwsweet election night, watching Prop 8 pass and knowing, at least for the moment, many of my friends will be denied the joy that my partner and I had when we got married on October 18th. We will continue to fight and protest until we all are able to marry the ones we love!
And woo hoo! Wedding bells ring in Connecticut today!
Best wishes,
Dee

Hi Ellen,
I love the pictures of you and Portia on your wedding day. Thank you!
To Ken and anyone else who is against gay marriage: get a freakin' life!! How, in the name of anything or anyone, is this a threat to your marriage or to your ideal of marriage?
Do you really think that gay people "recruit"?
Gay people only want to be able to marry legally. If you listen to Ellen you'll understand that there is a feeling involved. As Ellen said, she didn't really think about marriage but when she got married she felt "different". This does not mean that she's going to recruit others. It means that she is happy.
Let it go.

I just wanted to commend you and Portia on your bravery. Reading all the comments below, I couldn't help but think that if I were famous, I'd keep my personal life and my wedding to myself. It's incredible to me how nasty people are when judging celebrities in the 'spotlight' and I for one would not want to put up with it... gay or straight, celebrities are constantly being ripped apart and analyzed and speculated upon for every little thing they do. Why put yourself through that?
Then it occurred to me how important it is for SOMEONE to have the BALLS to stand up and say "I have a right to be ME. Say your worst." especially gay celebrities. Otherwise, how are we as a country ever going to overcome this outdated, hateful bigotry that to THIS DAY, IN 2008, stills run rampant in our society? After seeing the results for Prop 8 I was disheartened and depressed - but coming to your website gave me hope again. We have to keep hope. We have to keep standing up for our rights. I am female and I married a man, but I do consider this to be OUR fight. I don't want to raise my children in a world where other peoples hatred is given such power.
So thank you. Thank you, for being a role model, for being yourself, for giving me hope. We WILL prevail. 2009 promises to be a new beginning. We have finally managed to break a long outdated hateful barrier by electing our first African American President, and I am confident we will break the other hateful barrier our country faces. It's time for Change.

Ellen,
I love the photos, you and Portia look very happy. Don't listen to what everyone says as long as you two are happy that is all the should matter. I love your show and when I had TV I watched it all the time, but I check your web site regularly. Congrats and I wish you and Portia all the happiness in the world.

Dear Ellen,
I am very happy for you & Portia. I just happened to be looking on your wesite and viewed your beautiful wedding pictures. Then I scrolled down and read some of these blogs. I would just like to say to all the people who wrote some pretty horrible things in regard to gay marriage, they should be ashamed to call themselves Americans. I am NOT gay, I live in NY. We as people of the United States of America are facing a world of problems at this time. We just elected a new President who we will be looking toward for answers, solutions & guidance. We have so many of our troops still at war, a huge financial crisis, high unemployment, etc... Now I ask you people with this voting down on your Prop 8 against gay marriages - shouldn't you be a bit more concerned that you may live next door to people who may be inside creating bombs and on planningblowing up our country then stomping on people who fall in love with other people, regardless of race, religion, or sexual preference. Shame on you narrow minded individuals.
Ellen, thank you for your remarkable ability to make people laugh. You make me laugh regardless of how bad a day I'm having. May you have all the happiness in the world, and all you "other" peole maybe you need to stop and take a little time to laugh - sounds like you could use it.
I hope to one day get to see your show live, Ellen. We are both '58 babies and I would be honored to sit in your audiance.
Maureen, New York

TO THE MYSTERY WRITER:
I guess your vision of Ellen & Portia is different than most. A photo or clip of a video does not justify anything! I think Portia is happy with her relationship and prefers to be the meak & mild one.....and that's not taking anything away from her. She's a beautiful woman with a great career and she too is successful. Ellen does not appear to be taking any of that away from Portia. It just so happens that Ellen is the bigger star right now. Don't always believe everything you read or the short video clips you may see. They are a happy couple, that's obvious to the world. Making comments about people that WE/YOU don't even know is what get's the rumor mill started. Let's not judge!

Not just beautiful to the eyes. but to the heart as well.

TO DEB (10 nov)
Dear Deb,
you can see it from the video and photos: Ellen is always acting like the star and sometimes she's exagereted, it is TOO MUCH, she's heavy...
She's nice and funny, but sometimes over the lines... you know... Portia is always sweet and warm, beautiful, charming, but when she's with Ellen she's in the shadow, she looks like shy... She's under Ellen and it is not correct.. like it often happens between man and woman...
It's a pity. Portia is great, intelligent and a great actress.

Hi Ellen, beautiful pictures... I hope you and 'our Portia' (I'm an Aussie) will be happy forever. I love your show, and I love the way that you are so hysterically funny without being mean. I love your show so much that it is stopping me from getting a job... as it's on in the middle of the day... maybe I could work night shifts?

Jamie
By your comment you obviously believe in GOD and that he created Adam & Eve. If you read the bible, old and new testament you will find that gay practice is not the only transgression against GOD that HE condemns. Gay and Straight people have transgressed GOD's LAWS. People do not have the right to judge a person for which I agree, that's GOD'S business. We are told in scripture to hate the sin but LOVE the sinner. I am straight and I have transgressed GOD's laws for which I am accountable to him for. GOD instituted marriage one man and one women. There are many 'gods in this world' it depends on which one you worship that dictates your belief system. GOD is the same yesterday, today and forever, his laws don't change just because of man's wishes or desires. We are all in the same boat regardless of sexual preference.

Think about this all you bible thumpers... Yes God created Adam & Eve... God created Adam for Joseph & Eve for Mary... So thats what it really means :)
