Ellen: Thanks for sharing! You an Portia radiate love and I'm envious of your happiness. I have been unable to meet MY perfect match, as you have done with Portia. I have also hidden my "true self" from friends and family for 40 years! I actually married 3 different times.... to men. After my 3rd try, I came out, and said "enough".
Funny thing: my 1st husband turned out to be a "cross dresser" and after 4 years living with my most recent EX,(a 6'2" 230 lb. Biker/mechanic) I found out HE WAS GAY! Life is just too hard to figure out! But I did figure out that I don't need to be something I'm not. Just wondering if you had some tips on how to approach another woman when you see "an Angel" in a large group of people or public place. I have taken a couple of women on the back of my Harley, but most are into Men. How can I tell if she is into women? How did you meet Portia? I'm sure it's different in Hollywood when you have "agents" that can "have your people, call her people"! lol I don't have that going for me. I wish I had a "match maker" that could fix me up. I have heard people say "If I could spend one day with someone famous, who would I choose"? For me, I would LOVE to spend just one day with you and Portia! How fun would that be (for me at least)! Wishing you the best in every area of your lives. Let me know if you want a ride on the Harley~ Your fan forever: KC

Hey Sub, I hope God did not make a man and woman to make children to hate other people. It would be an explosive world if it is so. I think hate is an emotion by Satan and you should reconsider your feelings because people might think you're a child of Satan. I remember God to be a God of love so if there is love (look at the pictures) then it should be blessed by God. Hope you have a good think about these. Carlos, Australia

Ellen,
I clicked on your wedding photos for the first time (I am a teacher and have had a busy start of the year). I think they are beautiful! They are beautiful not on the outside, but the love I see between you in the pictures. It has been a long time since I have seen two people look that deep into each others eyes. It is like you are looking into each others soul! Congratulations! Merry (1st) Christmas to you and your family!

Posted by Tina T. | December 4, 2008 1:15 PM
Dear SUB:
If anyone is going to hell, it will be YOU with your judging. As far as I know, it is a big sin to judge other people. If I were you, I would fall to my knees and start praying for God to forgive me. Remember my words sweetheart: Good always wins over evil. You and the other haters will all have to face God one day & I'm sure it won't be pretty. By the way, learn how to spell (at least a little bit if you are going to write in a public forum).

Hi Ellen
This is my first time to your site - I would just like to say firstly
Portia - a great Aussie Gal - she looked so beautiful.
Ellen you too looked fabulous and you can see the love between you two.
Next year I will be married for 30 years - I was 18 he was 20 and although we have had catastrophes and lots of ups and downs we still love each other deeply and are each other's best friend. My husband has recently had spinal surgery after being in a wheelchair for 8 years - he had a major spinal injury in 1995 and eventually was told he would not walk again. But the wonders of modern medicine came to the rescue and him walking was not expected. But now our lives have turned full circle. He wants to go back to work and he wants to take us overseas for a holiday - we are not financially able to just now but we will get there and perhaps we may even come to the states to see your show !! as Gary watches you every day.
Have a great chrissy to you both and god bless.

There were some fanatical religious groups that tried to stop the gay marriage laws in Canada a few years ago. Luckily our government didn't listen to them. We've had gay marriages now for years and nothing is different here whatsoever.
Relax. Love is good no matter who it's with.
Don't stop trying to get the laws changed in the states. You can do it!
Posted by Sandy Norman | November 8, 2008 4:46 PM
Hi Ellen,
Your wedding was just beautiful and the way life should be.
We all strive for love and contentment and only ask that people stay out of our way so we can achieve that.
I am a 44-year-old happily married, heterosexual woman, with 3 children. No one stood in our way when we wanted to get married. No one stood in my way when I was young and married my best friend who should have stayed my best friend. After we divorced, he met my current husband and said, "that's the guy you always dreamed about." It took 6 months for the divorce - no kids, no problem. Why are people giving the government the right to decide what "true love" or even "love" is? I shouldn't have been permitted to marry my friend when I was 24 years old because I wasn't in love with him, but because I'm heterosexual, I could.
I am crushed by the decision of my fellow Californians to allow Prop 8 to pass. Some of these people are my family and good friends. Nothing I could say or do could convince them otherwise. What are they teaching my children? It is wonderful and about time that now a black man can walk down the street and children won't think he's a criminal. But a gay couple is still looked down upon. I will continue to fight this.
My children saw that ad for Yes on 8. They are 10 and 9 and laughed at it. My son said, “do they think because they show me a book I will want to marry a boy? That’s silly. People should just marry who they love.”
Much love to you and Portia from our family to yours,
Lorin Michelle Biederman

I am very glad to see that Obama has won the presidential election, but I am disgusted that the ban on same-sex marriage has also been passed. One step forward, and a million steps backward, it's not right. People who are against same-sex marriage need to get over themselves, it is no one's business other than the two people involved in the relationship, and it's about time that government left the issue alone and allow people to be themselves without any persecution. Same-sex marriages are not destroying lives in this world, but drugs and crime are; how about doing more to stop those things from happening???
Posted by Rachel Smith | November 6, 2008 9:12 AM
Congrats to the both of you, look both look so happy and in Love, i just wish the whole gay issue could just move on. I don't understand how others can dicatate who we fall in Love with, we are only judged by our maker and even he would approve. Best to all
Carol

Ellen-
I was saddened by California and their ignorance! As happy as I'm sure you were to hear we are an Obamanation...My feelings quickly changed.
I fell in love with a girl once. I was 18.
She was hilarious! A great actress. We acted in shows together, that's how we met. Smart, whitty, funny... She was your biggest fan too. You were one of the best thing's we had in common.
What I'm trying to say is FIGHT! Fight this stupid law. I look at your wedding photos (along with everyone else) and I see a BEAUTIFUL bride that you obviously take much pride in, who looks into her eyes, glowing...
Not one of the pictures shows you kissing!
Show that this is real! Be true to yourself (you always have) but twist the knife in the naive, son-of-a-b****'s who could'nt pass same-sex marriage, simply because they don't know the fact's and follow the crowd.
It's time to show off your wife Ellen! One thing I learned from my same-sex partner, is that it's okay to be yourself. Man, Woman, Gay, Straight...we are all human and deserve a chance.
Posted by Deanna | November 6, 2008 5:11 AM
I am writing from the UK and while I am elated at the Obarma victory and what it means for the people of the USA and the world I am bitterly disappointed that Prop 8 has removed the right of gay couples to marry. I can only hope that as Obrama leads the USA he can make a difference on this front too.
I am lucky living here in the UK as I have been able to "marry" my partner. Maybe by calling it a Civil Partnership we get around the issue of it been a marriage in some peoples eyes and thats why we have been able to bring it in to law. Perhaps the USA should maybe rethink the wording and you may be able to get your rights as gay couples back.

I want to congratulate you both on your special day. The seriousness in which you made this committment to each other teaches us all that love and respect is far greater than anything that devides us as human beings. I wish you both a long and happy marriage together.

Congrats on your wedding. I am very happy for the both of you and have been waiting for the day to hear that you were getting married. May God protect you in the years to come and may the law stay to where it's LEGAL for you to be married. In my eyes God is the only one who desides when we pass on if we going to heaven and NOT because of who we married. We cant help who we fall in love with.
Many many happy years to come and I love your show Ellen. YOU ROCK and are the BEST talk show host ever.

Ellen, I watched the show Tuesday. Thanks for opening up the special day to us. However, I have a suggestion that has helped my partner and I maintain respect, love, and happiness for 26 years. During your show you mentioned being Mrs. Degeneres, my ring, paying for Portia;s dress. Here is the key: OUR is such an important word. Our wedding, our rings, our validation of our love. We use OUR as an acronym for: O-U-R the most wonderful part of my life, O-U-R my joy, my love, my wife; Our awareness of O-U-R keeps things grounded, keeps things real, keeps appreciation alive, keeps us connected. Both you and Portia deserve a life of OUR. I write this because I care, because two souls finding each other is such a beautiful adventure.

Dear Ellen&Portia
I am so happy that you did this for all the world to see...and to share!! I am from the old school, and that is where we had to hide every feeling and every thing...couldn't walk the streets in Ac with your girl friend and hold hands, you would spend the night in jail or someone would have to pay $75.00 to get you out...plus so much more that we had to fear!!
Once again I THANK YOU!! I wish you all the luv and happiness any couple could have!! GREAT PICTURES!!
THANKS AGAIN FOR SHARING!!!!!
LUV TO BOTH OF YOU!!

Congratulations ellen! I could not be happier for you. I also married the love of my life, Sarah, this august... having always looked up to you, i am so excited to share this one more thing in common with you. All the best.
