I wish you both as much happiness, love and joy in your marriage as I have in mine with Trevor. When we married whilst on holiday in Florida I was 21 and he was 42 (we met through working together) - friends said it wouldn't last and urged us to stop our relationship - they stopped speaking to us ! We may not have as long together in this life time but its the best thing that happened to us both and i'm sure it will be to you too !
Your show is great - love it !
Take care !

I was very excited to hear of your wedding. It was very beautiful. My daughter is getting married May 1, 2010 and i certainly don't have the resources you have but I could only hope her wedding is half as beautiful as yours and Portia's. Congrats and best wishes for a long and happy life together you are a beautiful couple.

You've given me hope that some day, it will be 100 percent acceptable for everyone to join in a marriage with the person of their choice. I hope to attend my son's wedding some day, when he meets the man of his dreams

Ellen,
What a BEAUTIFUL wedding you and Portia had. My partner and I were united in Holy Union on September 8, 2007. We really wish we had the same benefits to be able say that we are married, too. BUT, her company just extended domestic partner benefits, so times ARE changing! It is wonderful to see two women who are so much in love, and NOT afraid to let everyone know! My wife, Laurie, and I wish you the best. We hope to see your show when we get out to California to visit my parents and see friends in LA.

I always in joy your show and the photo's of you and Portia wedding was beautiful. My husband and I dated in high school for less than a year and that was in the 70's, we met up again 20 years later at the Ninja Turtle movie, and the rest is history. We have been married going on 17 years in March and been together for 19. I will be 48 January 30 and the one wish I have is to be able to get my little girl Coconuts eyes fixed she is a 2 1/2 Sch-Noodle. Her first visit to a animal eye specialist was $400 dollars and the surgery will be around $2600 dollars and I can't afford that, I have tried everything I know to ask for help, like Peta, human society with no avail. If there is anything you can do that would be the best birthday present ever. Thanks again for your show it's great.

Congratulations! Pictures are very nice. However, where is your mother??? Surely she was there. Or, is she like me and doesn't like pictures taken of her. Hope all is well with you and your partner in life, Portia.

Ellen,
I live in Southwest Florida. I realize it is not just our area that has been hit, and hard, by the current economic crisis. But sometimes it feels like this is the worse place to be in order to ride out a recession. I have had a couple of rough years. I try not to be a complainer, but my house was broken into not once, but two times in a three week period and they destroyed and took almost everything I had worked so hard for my entire life. They even took my deceased grandmothers bible that was given to me at her funeral ~ can you believe that? Then, I lost my job and my daughter has had a lot of problems lately. They are leaning towards a bi-polar diagnosis. Despite all of this, I have made a decision to see the positive side of things. I have quit smoking (after 23 years!!!!) and I have my daughter in counseling and treatment and things are starting to get better, because I choose to make them better. I am living at my parents house with my two children. My son is 4 and he was born on my 39th birthday ~ best present I ever got and the main reason I quit smoking. I share their sun room with him and my daughter sleeps in their spare bedroom. All right I will get to the point. Your show lifts my spirits, and you are one of the main reasons I believe that there are still so many kind people in this world. You are such a kind person. I am so happy for you and Porscha (sorry if I mispelled her name). I watch and admire Oprah as well. Her show gives me some tools, but your show has given me back my laughter. In these tough times, a sense of humor, I believe, along with preserverence and a lot of faith in the good lord above, is the absolute best medicine. Thank you for all you do and sacrifice in order to make these tough times bearable for me and so many others. Sincerely, Kim Kerns ~ Lehigh Acres Florida

These pictures are magical. You two look beautiful together. As if you two knew all along who you would one day marry and you made it happen. I'm 49 years old, and I still hope to one day find someone who makes me as happy as you two make each other.

Dear Ellen,
Congrat's to you and your Soul Mate Portia. I too am a Christian and I am aware of what is said in the Bible about same sex relationships. As a Christian I say this to all of you who hide behind the Bible, DO NOT JUDGE! “Let him who is without Sin cast the first Stone" Do you remember that part of the Bible? It is not my place to judge anyone with all my imperfections and Sins. Ellen, I say this to you and all who read this. We are put on this earth for many reasons that only God knows. However, I do know this, that he expects us to be kind, loving and forgiving towards others. I see all those qualities in you with all the good you do for others. Why isn't that ever discussed? HUMMMMM
Posted by Rose | December 6, 2008 8:06 AM
Hey Frank-
There are a lot of "what if's" in this life. What if you are the one that is wrong? What if being judgemental is a sin? What might be the consequences of that? You have never seen or talked with God "in person", so how can you be sure what God want's? Don't believe everything you read Frank. The bible was probably written by men just like yourself (scary thought, huh?). God is love. He doesn't just love one particular group. I'm sure he loves everyone who is a kind and non-judgemental person. You probably should care more about starving people and abused children then worrying about same sex marriage/relationships.

Wow, these photos are absolutely gorgeous. it is like a fairy tale wedding. I am so glad for the two of you. May you have many happy years to come. Remember to keep looking at these pictures when things are going the other way. We loose site of what we have sometimes.
Peace out
Posted by Laura Cain | December 6, 2008 4:04 AM
you have been given-the wonderful gift and the the power to influence. Have you ever thought-what if you'er wrong and that same sex relationships aren't okay?
what if it turns out-that God really meant what he says?
I was just wondering-if you have every thought about the consequences of that.
I think God does tell the truth.

My husband was dead-set against it until I told him he was going to lose his son if he didn't accept him as he is. He finally did and now is very fond of his mate. Mainly because regardless of anything else, he is very happy. Isn't that what life is all about?

Hey Ellen,
Sorry to hear about Prop 8, it might be annuled in the eyes of the state of California, but at least in the eyes of you and Portia, and all your family, friends, and fans, you two are still married, and no one can take that away from you. We'll always support you :)

Hello Ellen and Portia,
From Kentucky-I just wanted to let you know that I was thinking of you when I awaited the results of the vote on prop 8. It's so sad that our country feels it has to take rights away - especially on topics of love and union that have no concern within a government. Good luck to you and I pray that generations across the board will open their eyes.
xoxo
Posted by Nicole | November 7, 2008 1:31 PM
Hey Ellen! I think it is fantastic you and Portia married, Congratulations! It is so dissapointing that the rights can and have been taken away, and nothing is in stone. I live in Canada where we can marry, and guess what the country hasn't fallen apart yet!!!Some of our stonch politicans thought that if it was allowed then people might want to marry their dogs too but that hasn't happend just yet...but there is still time!!! Funny what people think, tough to wrap our minds around it. I really thought that most of America was at the point where they would see all people as equals, and I think they are getting closer to this with the newly elected president Obama, but I guess they are just not quite there yet but at least the gap is closing. Good for you for putting yourself out there, it is people like you who force people to look into themselves and challenge their deep rooted beliefs! Thank you!

This world we live in
Takes many turns.
At times, appears so dim,
like watching countries burn.
Yet in all the war and catastrophe
Some things always glow brilliant,
keeping our path lit brightly.
You have found your love, your light,
Your inner peace and your soulmate.
Your journey has become a glorious flight,
And marriage nourishes your heartbeat.
Your smile has become wider
The twinkle in your eyes even sharper.
It all becomes you Ellen--
And we owe it all to Portia!!!
Wishing you the love and happiness you deserve for bringing so much love and happiness to others in all you do.

Dear Ellen and Portia:
Congratulations on your marriage. I believe that EVERYONE who has found their soul-mate should have the right to be married. We can't change who we are or who we fall in love with. GOD has created us in His image. We are the way He has intended us to be. No human being has the right to sit in judgement over our actions. My husband are still married after 30 years. I wish you many years of unconditional love and happiness as a married couple.
Always a Fan

Ellen I also am 50 years old. I got married at 16th while in 11th grade. I remember at the time saying I was 16 1/2 so that tells you my maturity level. lol Everyone said it would never work. But love finds a way. Now 34 years later the love is stronger and kinder and just the best. We are best friends. It is all a part of the growth. My husband said when we got married that no one was allowed to say the word divorce. What a smart YOUNG man. I wish you and Portia the love of a 16 yr old, the love of a 50 yr old and everthing in between.

Congratulations Ellen and Portia! I'm from Australia and saw the show today (10 Sept we're one day ahead) the video was so beautiful I'm so happy for both of you. Its even being played on the news down here - even if Portia doesn't call Australia home we're still interested! I'm getting married next year and I hope my fiance and I are as happy on our day as you and Portia were. I wish you both all the happiness in the world for the rest of your lives together.

Ellen u both looked so wonderful and beautiful
Love has no color no preducices and love comes from the heart, we are all God children. U pick your mate for color or race, but from the quility of their heart. Good luck and may your marriage last forever.

Take care !
