Ellen,
The love you both have in your eyes for each other gives me chills. My boyfriend and I look at each other the same way. We can not wait for the day that we can get married and share our love with others!! I'm not sure that will ever happen due to our economy..the lack of work here in California in NUTS! But, we have each other and our love is so incredible..we tell each other how much we love each other at least 60 times per day. I'm 42 years old and never thought I would find the love of my life. I found my Knight, my best friend, my soul mate and my love!! Our life even though it's hard right now that special person can always make you feel like a million dollars! When it rains outside my boyfriend holds the umbrella because he tells me, Sugar melts in the rain! I love him!! Any how thanks for posting your photos and I hope I will be albe to share our photos one day!
Sending you all the love in the world!

Ellen and Portia,
I have to tell you how outstanding your pictures are. You look so happy and in love. Our family
is so happy for you both.
My favorite picture is you and Portia looking out
over the ocean with your arms just as tight as they could be around each other. It should have a caption like "It's really happened and it looks beautiful"
Our wishes for you are simple. We wish you love and peace in your married life.

Ellen,
I retired on August 1st, so I never watched any daytime TV until then. After I started watching your show - it didn't take long until I was hooked and I look forward to your show everyday. The show with Dennis Quaid wearing the microphone in the coffee shop was without a doubt, one of the funniest bits I've ever seen!
You're one in a million!
Thanks for giving me something to laugh about every afternoon!

What are you thinking? Cant you find it in your selfish heart to be happy for Ellen, Seems to me you have issues and really should learn to keep your pie hole shut. I'm truly unimpressed with that comment as well as many other probably will be offended as well . Ellen is like family to us all and like family we will honor, respect and protect her as best as anyone can for a distance . Ellen, I'm proud of you and happy that you found the lady that is very needed in your life. Perhaps some need to keep there opinions to themselves. What ever the future holds for you both please know that you are indeed loved. heh ... and Nothing ventured nothing gained . RIGHT !!!

Heartfelt congratulations to you both. Rarely have I seen wedding photos with so much love and so little stress! I wish only that the rest of the world, my country included, would see their way clear to stop dictating not only what constitutes a marriage but basically with whom we choose to do so.
I am very happily married to my husband of 10 yrs and highly recommend it! May you always have "just enough" of everything to make you remember how precious both love and life are.
You both looked stunning.

History. We’ve heard a lot about it over these past few weeks. President-Elect Obama’s victory has inspired our nation -- and perhaps helped heal a small part of our country’s gaping wound that is racism. In reaction, so many of us have openly cried tears of joy and proclaimed a new sense of optimism toward our United States Of America and its citizens. Can it be that, with this historic vote alone, we have actually embodied the concept of “change," as the now famous campaign slogan suggested we might?
In the afterglow, we have watched as many black leaders, celebrities, and fellow Americans have shared their compelling stories of what this extraordinary moment in time has meant to them. People took to the streets in celebration, news reporters broke down on air, Jessie Jackson wept on live TV, Oprah triumphed -- excitedly waving the stars and stripes and playing “American The Beautiful” on her television show. Countless stories were shared about the deep impact this election has had on all Americans, but especially African-Americans. Truly one of the most healing and inspiring times in all of our lives.
But, on that same election day, another vote occurred. Proposition 8, the California State ballot proposition designed to strip gays and lesbians of their legal right to marry, was passed by a majority of the state’s citizens. The first and only amendment passed, in our nation’s long history, designed to take away rights from its citizens. Polls show that seventy percent of African-American Californians voted in favor of this proposition. Seventy percent. Ironically, on the very day that millions were not just casting their votes for an historic candidate -- but against hate, bigotry and intolerance -- this proposition was overwhelmingly supported by black voters.
Some argue that this is a moral issue, not a civil rights issue. They debate that African-Americans do not choose the color of their skin, nor their status as a maligned minority. The homophobic implication being that gays and lesbians do indeed choose their sexuality and thus, consequently, deserve their status as the lowest minority on the totem poll. Many express outrage that the African-American civil rights movement would even be compared to that of gays and lesbians.
Others argue that the legalization of gay marriage is not a discrimination issue, nor a moral issue, it is merely a concern about judicial overreach. Judges making decisions that should be left to society to dictate. In recent years, since the Massachusetts Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in the Bay State, we've heard a lot about "radical judges legislating from the bench.” Opponents express vehement concern that citizens of Massachusetts, California, and now Connecticut, have had a moral and societal issue forced down their throats by their state courts. They believe the gay marriage debate should be left to voters to decide. Majority rule. In the end, they applaud that a majority of Californians used their vote to voice dissent, stand up for their beliefs, and vote this amendment into their state’s constitution. American democracy at its best.
The only problem with that argument is that had popular opinion dictated the definition of equality decades ago, Barack Obama may never have achieved this extraordinary moment in United States history today. Our president-elect, and every black citizen who used their legal right to vote on Election Day, may never have been able to do so and thus realize what was once only a dream.
You see an election did not grant blacks the right to vote, congress did. In fact, in 1870, when the 15th Amendment was ratified, giving African-American men (only) the right to vote, society was nowhere near ready to give African-Americans that privilege. Despite that amendment, most blacks were never allowed to vote anyway. Society, as a whole, felt it was morally wrong. So how would a vote on that issue have gone back in 1870 -- state-wise or nationally?
Ancient history? Well it took another hundred years for the 15th amendment to be fully realized. Lyndon Johnson, in response the bloodiest battle for civil rights in our nation’s history, finally signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965 to grant and enforce that all African-Americans had the right to vote. Given the racial climate of the sixties, how would that vote have gone back then, if left in the hands of a majority of the American people to decide?
What about women…both black and white? Women voted for our new president in huge numbers to help defeat his opponent. Without their support, President-Elect McCain would now be choosing his cabinet. But it was not an election, nor a majority, that gave women their right to vote in 1920. Again it took our government, not the will of the people alone, to pass the 19th Amendment. How would that vote have gone, back in 1920, if left to the male voting population?
Finally, President-Elect Obama would have had one last barrier to his historic presidency. When he was born, his parents' marriage was not legally recognized by our country, as a whole. Like gay marriage, it varied state to state. It took the Supreme Court, in 1967, to decide that interracial couples could and should be legally allowed to marry throughout the United States. Without “radical judges legislating from the bench,“ would a majority of Americans have voted to make that same choice? Would our new president’s parents have ever had the right to marry? If not, would we dare elect a man, born out of wedlock, to the highest office in the land? Just think of the campaign attack ads on that issue alone!
Hate and ignorance. Together they most definitely would have derailed one of our proudest moments in modern times. But how fortunate are we that our forefathers designed a legal and governmental system to protect us from our own worst demons? Many times in our nation's history, the blind eye of our justice system has been far more insightful than the will of a majority of our citizens. One of the greatest parts of being an American is that we can say that our country's government and judicial system have always had a strong track record of recognizing old wrongs and eventually righting them. And, most of the time, long before we the people were ready to do so ourselves...in the voting booth.

Keep Smiling and Dancing. I hope you find clooney i have been trying for a long time just to get a answer from him. I had so many pictures my grandchildren said he was my boyfriend, lol.

To those homophoignorants.
If you don't like gay and lesbian marriages, fine!.
Mind your own. Are you hethero? Then get married with someone of the opposite sex! That is so simple!
Stop getting your nose in other people's business.
Stop going to your church and getting brain wash.
Be more productive. Get a part time job and help with the economy morons.
If you want to help! Tell the whole world to stop making babies senless! Tell your wonderful church about this! Ask your church about who is goint to take care of endless babies production all aroud the world! There are no much natural and economic resources left. So, who is going to take care of those kids! Morons! No God, no one. Get a life!

To people who can only see what they want to see.
To people who refuse to acknowledge truth.
To people who would rather be a person than a people.
This is proof that a persons soul shines brighter than than what you can see.
If you are lucky one day you will be able to understand true love and true humanity, untill than I feel bad for you.
I wish you and Portia all the best Ellen and if you do read this I am inspired by you everyday by every word.
Thank you for being true to you so that we have hope to be true to us!

what we learned on tuesday is that while white people were willing to vote for a black president, blacks did not support the gay/lesbian community and voted for discrimination in California. Its disgusting, and they used their bible to justify it. It really ruined this wonderful day for me.

Love, love, love the pics and the video we saw on your show of the wedding. When you & Portia saw each other for the first time, your reaction brought tears to both mine & my husbands eyes. I then slapped his arm and said "Why didn't you have that same reaction when we got married!?" haha. We're just so happy for you both! And we're Christians! Go figure!

Hi Ellen,
I just wanted to add my warmest wishes with all the rest. I live in Australia and we don't always get the shows aired in the same week so I peruse the website every now and then. Looking at your photos made me mist up. You both looked so happy and just floating in the moment. Congratulations on what will no doubt be a wonderful marriage.

Your show is not sandicated in Korea.
So I always come to this website or go to Youtube
to see your clip of the show or monologue.
This cannot happen in Korea. Because it will never
happen in my country, I won't come out.
I am very sad for the fact that I were born in such as conservative and old thought oriented nation., Because of this, I had to let the person
i've loved more than anyone else go. I couldnt even ask her for staying with me, because it can't be blessed as your wedding.
I like you a lot. it seems you're a good person.
God bless you and portia

Dear Ellen and Portia,
I am having a touch of jealousy over your beautiful wedding, here next-door in Arizona where such things are still not acknowledged. The love between the two of you truly shines. I don't know how anyone could ever question that God would bless such true love. Congratulations to both of you! Beautiful girls, clothes, setting, food, and family!
Lots of love,
Sara
PS: whoever thinks this is a great place to post a scolding, condemning, derogatory or homophobic and misspelled message, can I direct you over to one of the blogs at Fox News? thanks.

Ellen, I am so happy for you. You are such a great person with a very kind heart and you truely enjoy the best. You make a beautiful couple. Thanks for sharing your day with us and don't listen to anyone with negative thoughts about it they are just unhappy with their own lives. Plus that Donna Glick doesn't make any sense she watched your show knowing you were gay but now that you are happy and married she isn't going too. The funniest part is that she probably thinks you care which you should because you have a lot of fans who love you. Remember you won two awards for peoples chioce. Love ya. Your #1 fan.

I just watched the show with your wedding highlights. I still have tears in my eyes! It was so special...beautiful actually.
I am 44 and been in a long term relationship with my boyfriend, Jim for 7 years now. When I get married (sometime this decade please!), I want to model my wedding after you & Portia. I loved that you were seated while giving your vows. I absolutely loved the song "You are the one!". I missed who sang that. Can you provide the artist to me?
Congratulations and Best Wishes for many happy years together!
