While, I don't believe in gay marriage,I also believe that I have no right to judge my God created us all. We hope that one day, the whole world will understand that one loves another because what is in the heart. No matter if it is female towards a female, male to male or male to female, what ever it is does not matter, the important thing is the LOVE between two people.
I love Stephen with all my heart, we have been together 9 years now, and I am more in love with him today than 9 years ago going on our 10th year soon.

I watch your show every day infact I am a mother of seven which the oldest is 31 and they to love your show and are so happy for your new life. Ellen I read some of your comments from people, for the most part they were so caring and happy for you, but I did notice the very few that were rude. Blessings upon the two of you for your winsome courage and gracious embrace of life as God intends it to be for you! I am one of those Presbyterian pastors who is fighting for the full inclusion of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered persons in the life of the Church and the world at large. I am sorry for "anonymous," who left you such a negative comment. I pray that someday "anonymous" and those who share similar opinions may come around to see what a sham they make of marriage, limiting its bond to a "bottom line" of procreation. If procreation is truly all that God intends marriage to be, then I'll have to ask more questions when I do my premarital counseling for heterosexual couples...I guess that means I cannot do weddings for brides who have passed through menopause, and for brides and grooms that happen to be infertile. Too bad for them...or so goes the reasoning behind the old "procreation" argument. I guess that also means that abuse and mistreatment of a spouse is to be tolerated, as long as the members of the couple can procreate. Needless to say, that isn't what God intends marriage to be! You two, with your beautiful smiles and compassion and tenderness for one another embody what I understand God blesses us with in a good and solid marriage.

Ellen and Portia, I echo all the great positive statements other persons have left here. Regardless of Prop 8's failure or success, you two are a wonderful example of human love at its best. The first time I saw a picture of your wedding (on your show), the first thing I noticed was the way you looked at your wife. Actually, for only about the last 200 years has mariage been legally only between a man and a woman. There have been countless societies throughout history where marriage was between two consenting adults, regardless of sex. People should try reading something other than the 700 Club press releases before making statements about "for all time".

I would not presume to speak for God, but in my opinion if marriage was about the ability to make babies, then such a thing as infertility would not exist - there are countless married couples who are not blessed with the ability to procreate. Should they get divorced? And why is it possible to get pregnant if you are not married?

I am so happy for the both of you and I pray that my partner and I will have the opportunity to make our 12 year relationship legal in our own country. Notice if you will - we are now two beyond the average time limit for heterosexual marriages. No matter what happens with Prop 8 your marriage is real! Live life, be happy!!

For all time, marriage has always been between a man and a woman. No one says you can't be in love if you are the same sex. That has been going on forever also. Why do you have to change everything? Leave it be the way God meant it to be. If he wanted you to be married, He would have made it possible for you to physically have babies together.
