I had an Uncle who was gay and his significant other was and Uncle to me! About 5 years ago we had lost my Uncle due to cancer.
A few years before his death they celebrated their 30 years of togetherness, with a beautiful rainbow theme. My Uncle's signifacant other is "Still my Uncle", he remains apart of our life, since my uncle has passes, his significant other has been shunned by other family members. My family and I love him as though he was our own blood. He will always be my uncle (sometimes we call him Auntie!)
It was so amazing to know that they were together longer than most straight couples I know. Most of all My Uncles were very much in love and very happy. They never married but you could tell they had all the love for one another.

I can´t believe that in America people can decide over someone else his life! I am glad that I am living in the Netherlands, where people (gladfully) do not have the right to decide that people who love each other, cannot live their life that they want with each other!
That is not democracy. I hope that it will change soon!
I am not gay (man, childeren and...not married), but a lot of my friends are! It is great that more and more countries introduces the gay marriage. It is waiting for America.
It is not demicratical when people do not have the same rights! I hope for you that with this "changing America" this will change too!

Dearest Carolyn, You got it! You got it!!! If my sister had known about photo-shopping she would have fixed her hair that way instead of using a felt tip pen to color in what she thought was squished by her veil! She wanted her wedding photo to look gorgeous because it was her wedding day - the happiest day of her life and she wanted to look like a princess! I thought she looked stunning but she hated her hair in that picture and fixed it with a felt tip pen -that's all there was too it. Now for those of you who are leaving negative comments...how rude! Didn't your mothers ever teach you that if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all. I think that it was a wonderful thing that they were able to get married. If you couldn't see that they are truly in love with each other then you need some glasses. Everyday that Ellen talked about Portia or about them getting married you could see how much Ellen loves her. She had a twinkle in her eye everytime! I absolutely love when any two people can love each other so much. Love each other so much and show the world that they don't care what anyone else says or does. And nothing will stop them from loving each other unconditionally! When Ellen announced that they were getting married I started to cry it was so exciting and I was thrilled for them. For those of you who can't see or don't care to see that this is true love and that they make each other so happy you have problems not them. But really at the end of the day and everything is all said and done who will come out on top...Ellen and Portia! "Norway introduces new Marriage Act
Homosexuals in Norway are now allowed to get married. The new Marriage Act, which the Storting passed in the middle of June, gives homosexuals greater rights in a number of areas.

6/24/2008 :: The parties making up the current coalition Government, together with the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party, that ensured a parliamentary majority when the Storting voted on the bill. The bill was passed by 84 votes for and 41 against.

The new Marriage Act provides that:

• two persons of the opposite sex or the same sex may enter into marriage;

• same-sex married couples may be considered as prospective adoptive parents, on the same basis as opposite-sex married couples; and

• lesbian married couples or registered partners will have the same rights to assisted fertilization as opposite-sex married couples and registered partners.

In addition, the non-biological mother in a lesbian marriage will have automatic parental status on the birth of a child by assisted fertilisation, in the same way as opposite-sex couples. It is suggested that the term medmor or co-mother should be used to describe the mother who has not given birth.

The church’s rights
Under the new Act, the present Act relating to registered partnership is repealed, and registered partners who so wish may have their partnership converted into marriage. The Norwegian church and other religious communities have the right, but not a duty, to wed homosexual and lesbian couples.

I too, like KC have followed Ellen since her early years and loved her sitcom and hated it when it was not renewed. I have to admit when she first came out I was surprised, but she has always carried herself with such grace and gratitude-she is truly a remarkable person. I have become more and more impressed with her as the years pass. The gifts she gives on the show I truly believe she wants to share her good fortune with others. She has done alot of good things for many people and wonderful causes. Giving pet food to people who help animals...in my eyes she's a saint. Hey I'm 6 years away from 50 and I know it's not so easy to keep everything looking perfect after 40. She looks great and very healthy-don't be jealous of others because they may have more money than you-relish in the fact she is a wonderful, funny, caring person who truly cares about others! That said, I think it is obvious that you're not comfortable with homosexuality, otherwise you would'nt stop watching Ellen just because of some gay contents.

What the Feburary?? whoops, they are due Feb. 22,08 We are bustin' buttons over the great news, our 24 yr.old son has C.P. it takes a lot of work but a great team can keep things going. If you had a chance to read all the comments posted on the website you'll notice that i have already sent my deepest and warmest congrats to you & Portia, but my comment this time is to anyone who has been negative or judgemental to you guys..so here it is:

I think with all honesty and sincerity that people are free to do or say whatever they want. Also, people should be free to be whomever they want to be. No one has the right to judge anyone else and if someone feels that they don't agree with something or someone else then they probably should either share it with a friend who has the same opinion or just keep it to theirselves. I find it very hurtful to criticize someone just for being different in any way and the way i see it is that all of us will be judged in the end by god and he is the only one capable of deciding who did what wrong and will get punished or rewarded accordingly i guess. I'm a muslim, and that's what i have been taught since i was very young and that is what i truly i believe. All i know is that Ellen makes me smile everyday even when i'm in a terrible mood and i love her for that. She is a good and kind person. Dear Ellen, My partner and I (of 16 years) have a 7 year old daughter Anna. We live in a suburb outside of Boston and sometimes it can be difficult for Anna to have 2 Mom's. A lot of her friends have 1 Mom, 1 Dad, divorced parents, raised by grandparents etc.. but so far no 2 Mom's. When she saw the cover of People w/ you and Portia on the cover she nearly ripped it from my hands. She (as do we) love you and your show (of course Anna likes the dancing best.... and anytime you have animals on). She was thrilled to see that someone that she admires is also gay like her Mom's and got married just as we did. So congratulations Ellen and thank you for being a great role model (whether you wanted it or not!). You made a difference for our family and made things just a little bit easier for a little girl. I was so happy, until I realized my invitation was obviously lost in the mail..so, sorry I missed the wedding, but surely you understand and forgive? And of course I am curious--did ya find the paparazzi "up there", or what?? We know how those rodents seem to find the best hiding spots just for a photo....

I like a gazillion others set my TV to your show daily even though some days I have to miss it (I guess really have to work on getting my priorities straight, huh?!)...and let me tell you that when I am having 'one of those days' -- which now that I think of it, that seems to be any day that ends in 'day', but when I do watch you, you make it all go away. It kills me to think that so many people in the world judge other be there looks, there color, there beliefs. It really hurts to hear all of those people in the world who are so against the thought of same sex atractions. I have grown up in a pretty judgemental family. A family who believes that god did not put women on this earth to be with other women, But I believe different.
Let me just say to all of you people who believe it is wrong, let me just tell you that until you are gay you will never understand.

You think we want to be gay and have everyone judge us? You think we want to live life not knowing if we will ever be excepted? Do you honestly think we have a choice? Do you think if we had a choice we would pick the situation that would be most difficult?

No one can chose what they like and dont like, It is natrol to have a prefrance in all that you do. So when you make judgements about those who are gay, think twice and then realise that it was your god that made us this way, we did not chose it ourselfs.

Think of it like someone with cancer. Do you think they wished for that? do you think it was there fault? and do you think that it would be at all easy for them to change that? It is the same way. It is hard, and painful and 100% not in our control.

I am gay and I would not have it any other way. Because If I lost my atraction to women, I would have no one to want, no one to love, no one to with they would be mine.

Please dont judge and know that what Ellen and Portia have done is anything but wrong. It is more strong and more brave than anything any other streight person will ever have to do.
