Congratulations to you both, I can only imagine you had loads of fun. Keep up the good work Ellen, I eagerly await you at 6pm every evening, your my happy medicine. Thank you. I just Love watching your energy, if I'm low just watching you picks me up. As 3 years ago I had a second stroke which left me with left side weakness and the ability not able to use my left hand. Having this happen to me at the tender age of 43 and the first time I was 38 and thought they have got it wrong I'm only 38 and the second time I didn't realise and went to work a 45 minute journey from home on the train. Because I have a son and I live in London I felt it was important to come back to London to be nearer to him. So as friends and family have said I was silly to travel back in the midst of having a stroke. As a mother I thought of my son first. Currently I'm unemployed and there is only so much television one person can watch.

Can Portia take a bad picture? I think not....

Well they say better late than never so Congratulations on your wedding.. I really enjoyed the beautiful photos of the "big day". I especially loved the photos of your furry babies, (your dogs). How many pets do you have? I have four dogs and one cat that is 15 years old. Love my pets. I wish you both many years of love, laughter, and happiness.. I have been married (to the same man) since I was 19 and I am now 47. So that would be 28 years. Believe it or not I am still in love with him and he is my best friend and knows me better than anybody. On Nov. 14, we celebrated 28 years of being married and we were together for almost two years prior to being married. We grew up together. We have a beautiful daughter that is 24 and graduated from college this past summer and we have a very handsome three year old grandson. Marriage can be difficult at times, but if true love is there you can survive anything.. So enjoy each other and be happy...

Dear Ellen,
I am a senior citizen and more than likely closer to your mom's age and I am not gay. I so enjoyed watching your TV show prior to the world learning that you were gay. I remember the loss of your show, the nasty comments from so many and as your Mother felt for you I too felt the awful hurt and pain you suffered at that time. Now thankfully some have learned and here you are, rising above, becoming again a daily treat to so many. My daughter tapes your programs daily and comes home from work tired and quite often not in a good mood. She first feeds her babies, two cats, one named Ollie (a tiger male) and Kukla (a Calico- female of course), prepares a quick meal to jump in bed and watch your show. In less then ten minutes her bad mood is gone and she is laughing hysterically which I am also doing from my home as well. I hope you realize just how many people you not only make laugh but inspire. You are a loving, warm hearted, awesome person and no matter what road you follow I hope it is covered with rubies of happiness, diamonds of health, sapphires of success. Thank you for being YOU.

Anyways, I'm very sorry that Proposition 8 got passed. I was hoping it wouldn't, because I would very much love to get that little piece of paper that means so much. The love you have for Portia exudes from this photo.
Anyone who has negative comments on gay marriage, gay rights, or gays in general.. need to get help. Serious help. Dont you have the right to marry if your straight? Correct. We don't. Correct. Are we humans too? Correct. So guess what? We have the same right to marriage as you. That doesn't mean you have to go off and get married to the same sex. You still have your right. We will have just gained ours too. And anyone who wants to ban that is ignorant. Gay relatinships last as well as any straight relationship. And gay couples can raise children just as well as any other couple. No, we cant procreate, but there are so many kids to adopt that we could get off the streets, and so many people who are willing to donate sperm/eggs. The children we raise are just the same as yours, except that fact that they are more open to differences than yours.

You two are truly beautiful. I have so much love and respect for Ellen. You have been my role model since I was younger and you truly have helped me come to terms with the person that I am. Me and my husband ended up getting married in a trailer park in the town next to us because his dad was in the hospital getting his 3rd open heart surgery and we wanted married right then so his dad would know we did it before he passed away. When we called the court house they gave us the guys name and we called him and he was like We can do it at my home you just be here at 7p.m. I was like okay this will be good. Got to driving down the road with the directions the man gave me and it went to freakin trailer park. I told my husband well are now officialy TRAILER PARK TRASH.... lol.. I read and saw photos of your wedding in People magazine. I thought they were great.

The happiest day of your life (thus far) unfortunately has been the worst day of mine.

I lost my mom (who just turned 60) to lung cancer.
She has never smoked a day in her life. Hates it, would never be around 2nd hand smoke. She was mis-diaganosed for months(and was stage 4 when the right person finally figured it out). People need to push their doctors to do further testing even if they don't fit "protocol". She beat it for just over 2 years. Cancer is a terrible thing. Her brother (my uncle) lost his battle with cancer a few days ago. He was 56 years old. People need to start giving to research.

We live in Florida where Ammendment 2 was voted against 67 percent no to 32 percent yes. I'm afraid it will be in another lifetime before we are able to see equality among gay rights. We commend you for your efforts in educating your audiences and we are so proud of you. We know you have went through a lot of heartache in the past. We are still going through that heartache. You see, my mom and dad will dis-own me if I come out with the truth. You two look beautiful, most importantly you look so happy. No law can take away that love. I know that a legal marriage means more than just a formality or a piece of paper, I'm not here to trivialize that, but it certainly isn't most important. The love you have for eachother will see through this dark period of prejudice. As a fairly religious person, I got a little flack for voting no on the prop to ban gay marriage in my own state. The way I see it, if I don't think women should marry eachother, that's my OWN belief. I would never vote based on my religion, because I know that the reason I am free to worship as I choose is because we seperate as best we can religion from politics in this country. Why would a person's religious freedoms be any more important than your right to choose who you marry. If I think women shouldn't marry women, then I'll hold MYSELF to that and not marry myself to one. I believe thats as far as ANYONE should take their opinion about gay marriage. You should have the right to believe what you want and MARRY who you choose. BOO to the self righteous Californians who voted to ban your right. How terribly Unamerican!

Prop 8 passed. This is a dark day for my home state of California. I would like to have believed my state was more mature and open-minded than this, but sadly I am wrong.

During this summer, my heterosexual marriage was never in jeopardy nor threatened in any capacity, as same-sex marriages took place. My life and marriage didn't change beyond sharing in the joy with these couples. If same-sex marriages were allowed to continue, our "traditional marriage" would not have been taken away from us, so how can we as fellow citizens take away marriage from anyone else?

What difference does it make if same-sex couples have equal marriage rights as my husband and I?

Using the "yes on 8" slogan of campaigning to "save traditional marriage" was a falsehood. Maybe what they were trying to "save" was their own sexuality or sexual confusion?

I can only pray the state Supreme Court steps in one more time and that people get more educated that same-sex marriage is a civil right and a good/fair thing.

My daughter is planning her wedding day, October 20, 2009. Up until now she was struggling with the look and feel of her wedding ceremony. After viewing your beautiful photographs she has direction, THANK GOD! We will hold her reception in our back yard. I think the look and feel of a long table is more intimate for her guests. Paula: I so don't want to get involved here either, but I can't ignore your post. I am not certain of your photography background/education, however in my 20+ years of experience I have never never never seen "naturally occurring black shimmers" that would explain the black outline in the image above.

It is virtually impossible for the black lines in question to present naturally, and in my opinion this photo is contrived.

Admittedly so I don't know everything and so the challenge I give to my students I will offer to you. Show me/tell me exactly how you did it - including any relevant data like the lens, filter (or combination there of),aperture, f-stop, lighting etc.

I have taken many professional photos at weddings, and these black shimmers DO sometimes happen NATURALLY around people on both inside and outside photos. It has to do with a lot of factors, sometimes including the emotions or body heat, the way the light hits, the background contrasts, and other items. This is NOT a sign of photoshopping in all cases. Get your facts straight before commenting and saying nasty little things. To the obviously delighted couple - congratulations and may your love grow with each day. All people deserve to be as happy as you are.

A note to Susan. As a graphic editor I see evidence of editing. Take another look, and with a modest zoom you can see the dreaded black outline that was doctored in to the above photo.
