You have to hand it to Santa. . . after a few of these you'd have to imagine his ears are ringing. Way to hang in there Santa! :)

These pictures are too cute! I had to sit with my 10 1/2 month old son and he was still scared, you can see it in his face in the pic! love your show ellen! keep it up

These kids look absolutely horrified! All they see is some fat, white haired, bearded guy wearing a big red suit and not looking very jolly. Judging by those pictures, it has to be a scary 5 minutes of utter terror. Say cheese!
Posted by Neghie Thervil | December 10, 2008 12:37 PM
I want to cry with them and some of those Santa's would scare me too with their hats down so far. What a horrible experience for some of them.

These made me laugh. I love my kids "bad" Santa photos. They are my favorite. We didn't make it last year, and this year with 4 kids, I am sure it will be "bad" somehow. This will be our 16 month old daughters first time. And I don't think our 3 year old son will remember him either.

I wish I could see these pictures side by side because I swear these are the same twins from 31. I guess they didn't get over their fear yet. My son is almost 2 & hasn't cried yet (knock on wood). I got to dig up the picture of my older son (he hates taking pictures), he was about 4 & he had the maddest pout on his face. Every year he's the one I have to bribe to sit still, look at the camera & smile. You should have one of kids with the Easter bunny & birthday pictures too. I have one of my daughter (she was going on 1) at someone else's 1st birthday, sitting between two pinatas crying.

The photos are great...little ones really don't like Santa do they" My son was acting up at his second birthday and I was all upset. "Why are you being such a baby?" I would think, the following year, same thing. He finally told me that he was afraid of the clown we had been hiring for all the parties. Good to know!

That Santa looks like he has a great sense of humor...I have twin girls too, their Santa photo is a good one too.

Just checking back to see the updated bad Santa photos, but...sniff...they haven't changed in days.
I've sent in my granddaughter's picture with Santa--a very funny one!-- three years in a row. Due to your taping schedule, it looks like another year will pass us by yet again, but we'll get through it...I hope.
It's a great idea no matter what.
Merry Christmas!!!

Can we still send in bad santa photos? If so, I have a humdinger for you. Please advise how to do so if its not too late. Thanks!

I love the pictures, they are so funny. I dont think I have seen to many good santa pictures yet we still keep torchering little ones every year. I wish I could find this picture of my friends little girl she was 6 months old and had just eaten green beans a got sick all over santas beard and jacket.

I think that the "Bad" Santa photos are actually the best pictures ever! Mom my has a few herself.. and she has always said that she loves us kids the most when we are at our worst.. lol :D
Just a thought...

Waiting to see my grandchildren's bad Santa photo that my daughter sent in to you two weeks ago. Why hasn't it been revealed in your pics? It's the same 32 pics everytime I check in. No updates being done. Get with it!! We all want to see more.
Posted by B.Kent | December 19, 2007 12:21 PM
Oh my gosh....why do we do this to our children. So funny and if you notice time does not change things. There was a picture from 1976 and oh my god the one of the little girl giving the middle finger. Too funny.

We educate our children to avoid strangers, not talk to them and scream while running away. Find an adult, roll under a car, find a cop, etc.
So we parents set them on the lap of a stranger that is dressed VERY weird and expect them to say, "Cool! This rocks! Let me tell you what I want...Wait...You're Santa. Let me tell you..."
Parents make no sense. No wonder we are so odd. My child thinks I am nuts. Maybe, now I know why. I am just like so many others and probably many more to come.
Posted by shrock-me | December 15, 2007 8:50 AM
Why do we subject our children to this? If they are obviously afraid why do we make them sit on a strange man's lap and take pictures when they cry? And people think it's funny. When they are afraid and cry in other situations do we think it's funny? Just something to think about.

I feel soooo sorry for the Santas! No wonder most of them drink! This happens to them all day long!! OMG! Kudos to them! There isn't enough $$ in the world for me to do it & I have 2 children! There is something to be said for the old saying "Mommy drinks because I cry". I think this time it should apply to Santa!! Oh yea, I've been fighting Cancer this whole year & I just found out last night after many chemos & surgerys...it is GONE!! WOO HOO!!! I'm Cancer free & I'm telling the world!! Merry Christmas!

These pictures almost make me want to be a Mall Santa. Not the "scare the poor child part" but the hilarious "look at me, I don't really know what to do with your child so I'll just smile and hold on real tight" part.

Oh my how cute and funny all the pictures are. I remember those days. My husband and I took our dogs for pictures with Santa this year. As my husband said after-words," That was a real experience, One I won't have to repeat I hope." Our Terrier mix, Bedelia was one of those screaming children. But Bitsy who is a 9lb. Manchester Terrier loves every one, so it was a great photo opportunity for her. I love the pictures and my dogs of course. And we love you Ellen for all the joy and laughter you bring to us all via the Ellen Show. Thanks for everything. Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year.

I love, love, love the bad Santa photos!I have many pics of my oldest screaming in Santa's lap. My husband is Santa every year. Well these xmas pics are great...i love that we get humor out of what was possibly the worst day of someone's life (or so they thought at the time...i was one too..i know). and you actually make a game out of it. love it! love everything...sorry this is so long and that there's so many "..."

Photos are so cute!!! They had me laughing.
I still have a small painted pottery dog I got from Santa when I was young. That was a good memory that came to me after seeing your photos.
I would like to request the little girl who appears to be displaying her middle finger be removed since kids might be viewing the photos alone or with their parents.
Ellen - I love your show. You are so funny. I enjoy the way you interact with your guests, especially the children you interview.

Thanks for the great idea of posting these photos!!
Every parent, at some time during their children's little lives, has come across a time when having thier photo taken with Santa (or the Easter Bunny) is just impossible!
We've all been there and it is great to see so many are willing to share their day with Santa not going so well! My sympathies to Santa and the parents! We look so forward to that moment - then that first tear appears, and you are jumping up and down, doing anything to try to get them to stop and smile. Whew - the workout!
Thanks to you all!

I just went to my 22 year old daughter's house for dinner and I saw the picture of her 1st picture with Santa, and we laughed so hard. The picture is of her (Of course crying) but for years after looking at that picture, we were all positive, Santa was drunk! It was hilarious!

The 9 bad-Santa photos are great,but I enjoyed
number 7 the most. Santa looks as unhappy as the kids.
My teenage brother took me to see Santa when I was four years old. I walked alone up a long ramp to see Santa and when I looked at Santa and his eyes, I got scared and I ran screaming down the ramp.
these are so cute and good pictures. i think it is neat that you are willing to post the pictures. your the greatest host ever.

Hi Ellen - These pictures are too funny. Santa's sure have to be happy people to handle the kids that are afraid of them. My son never wanted any part of Santa and as he got older I gave him a bad time about how I was the only mother without a picture of her child with Santa. When he was in college he went and had a picture taken with Santa for me. I now have it sitting out all year long (he's 25 years old now). Thanks for collecting these pictures, they made me laugh.
Please keep your show going, it's the best on TV. I rush home every day to see your show. I look forward to laughing with you every day. Thanks.

These pictures are so cute. So are these children. Having your kid sit on Santa's lap isn't an act of cruelty. It's an American tradition. It's just something fun to do and these pictures are a GREAT memory for these families in the future. They'll all get a laugh when they go back to look at it. And than they'll take their own children to sit on his lap as well! :) Happy Holidays!! :)
Posted by Mandy | December 6, 2007 5:21 AM
Why do so many people think it's funny to subject children to something they don't want to do? I think it's a bit creepy to ask our kids to sit on a person's lap that they don't even know just for the sake of a photo - especially when they are clearly upset. It's kind of like expecting your kids to kiss & hug friends and relatives even though they don't want to.
Posted by linda | December 6, 2007 2:10 AM
When my son Colten was 3, I took him to visit Santa. I expected the normal "hysterics" however the opposite happened. He calmly walked up and plunked his little butt on Santa's knee. They got into quite a lengthy conversation, Colten accepted his candy cane and coloring book, however when it was time to leave he calmly said, "no, this is my Santa". Santa being the jolly fella he is...told me to leave him a while, likely thinking he would get bored and depart. Santa didn't do his homework on my kid because Colten was very content to sit and listen to the other children visit with Santa. Consequently, the parade of children that followed were allowed "the other knee" while my son sat quietly became a mystery member of some other family's Santa photos....whom I want to add were very good sports.

I love how Santa is still smiling in the last photo even though the 2 little girls were trying to get away!
We went to a place once that requested we put our kids' backs to Santa as we sat them down so they couldn't see him and be scared... good thought, but they still turned around to see who was holding them and it was over!
Happy Holidays!

Such precious pictures! I was reminded of the time we took my two boys to see Santa in a Nashville, TN mall on our way back to Ohio after Thanksgiving in Arkansas with family. Santa had a very distinct Southern accent that I completely baffled my normally exuberant, mischievous almost 2 year old. While his older (almost 4) brother must have said "Keezbuger" at least 20 times (much to Santa's amusement who accused him of being a camera hog..lol), the younger child would do nothing. We tried and tried for about 15 minutes (all caught on video, as well). Nothing. So, I finally had them take the picture and afterwards, Santa asked for a hug. Again, nothing, from either of them. Santa finally says, "If you love Santa, you'll give him a big hug", to which the oldest child rolled his eyes and quickly stated, "I don't love Santa. I like him". Yes, all caught on video that I used for years when they first started dating. hehehe I still pull it out. I love that video! Merry Christmas Ellen and everyone!

These are hilarious. They remind me of my youngest at her 2-year-old birthday party at Chuckie Cheese. She was scared to death of Chuckie. We had her 3-year-old party there and she chased Chuckie all over the building.
I had one of 5 out of 6 of my children with Santa when the youngest was sliding off of Santa's lap in a desperate attempt to be rescued, but don't know where it is right now since it's been 25+ years ago.
I love your show and watch it every day.

These pictures crack me up-They remind me of my childhood.I remember being so excited about seeing santa, and then when I actually got to see him I thought about all the bad things I did all year and I was convinced that he knew about them, I guess I had a BIG guilty conscience. Anyway I LOVE your show Ellen-keep up the good work!!!!
