Ellen, this pic is hysterical...where did u get that dress - Little house on the Plaid Prairie. You don't look real excited about your date...if u stood any farther away, you'd be in the next room. His hair is really scary though, don't blame ya,
luv, Cathy

Hi am Zama Khumalo from South Africa & I watch the show everyday. Would like to wish Ellen a happy bday & many more.

My dearest Ellen,
Only a mother of a lesbian could understand the look on your face. If I could, I would show you every picture I have of my daughter at every single dance she went to. She tried over and over to conform to what she thought I wanted her to be. How sad. Now that I know the she is gay, I look back at those pictures and notice how tortured she looked. No wonder. I wish we taught our children that it's ok to be whomever they are right from the start. Not to hide the person inside. I am blessed that my daughter and I have such an open relationship. I see some of her gay friends, and a nephew, who struggled, and still struggle to be. Thank you for all your courage and support, and for being a very positive role model in my daughters life.
Sincerely,
Michele Wilson

Sweety! Omg, haha, you've come a long way, judging on this photographs and then the ones of your wedding these days.
Because of you, lesbians can now live a more 'normal' life without being bullied, or being scared of being recognized as gay. There's still stuff to change in the world, but you pretty much did all the hard work for us. You're so great, and I have good faith that someday all lesbians and gays will just be able to go to the prom together, walk hand in hand and kiss each other on the lips in public. You're so great, perfect, sweet, kind, lovin', caring, and omg. You're the greatest.
Me.
HOT!! I also rocked the 70's tho i had red hair...

You definitely did not go traditional with your prom dress! No sherbet or ice cream colors for you, thank you very much! Cut dress, though...I had a pant suit that was styled similarly, with the same sleeves and collar.
Your date looks hysterical with the layered mullet and CRANBERRY colored coat and bow tie! Guess he didn't want to rent a tux? Or is that a half-a-tux he's wearing??
I'll bet you two had fun at your prom. I never attended mine...I got asked by a dweebie little 10th grader who started off the conversation by stating (excitedly) he "figured out a way to take me to the prom for only $15.00!" (Tickets to my prom were $10.00 per couple.) He told me we would have to eat dinner at my house, that I would have to drive us to the prom in my Dad's car, and he would not be renting a tux but wearing his good suit coat.
I asked what we would do after the prom.
"I dunno...anything you want, I guess." Translation: "hopefully steaming up the windows of your Dad's car."
And with such an irresistible invitation like that, what girl would say no?
I did.
He asked me why I didn't want to go? "Are you afraid you won't be the prettiest girl there?" And that's a direct quote.
Hmm, where did THAT come from? I told him "No, it's not that. I just don't want to go to the prom," crushing him forever. I should have added, "with you, you little cheapskate," but I wanted to be tactful.
Ahh, these photos of yours bring back memories of my own!

hey ellen, you look ridiculous. hahahahahaha. I love to laugh really beyond healthy. I don't think anyone has said that how frighteningly odd you look like one of the BeeGees in drag. OMG I'm rolling on the floor laughing my ask off in my mind. Anyway...considering you took the time to post that horrendous picture, someone should take advantage of it and laugh at you, I mean with you. I love it when you laugh at yourself, it reminds me not to take myself too seriously and that it's ok to make fun of people who make fun of themselves. *slowly walks out singing every word perfectly of the tune "You (Ellen) light up my life..you give me hope....(moves hands like an umpire yellin; "SAFE!" *music stops right on timee/ go Stryker!... anyway, I heard you wanted me to do a lil bit on your show and I asked myself..."Self? do ya feel lucky?" and right then it was like "o.k" it can't be any worse than what Ashton did to me. That's right, I got punk'd!!! (well maybe that part isn't true) Sincerely and briefly,

I love these childhood pictures of Ellen. She has always been so adorable. I just wonder why this post of "Me, growing up" has never been updated. With all the new pictures that have been on the show of Ellen as a child, I would love to see them on here too.

Ellen, my daughter (a high school senior) is very much into plaid. While at Sam Moon Trading Company recently, she bought a somewhat plaid fedora which almost matched the plaid pants she was wearing.
Anyway, since her prom is coming up in May, Stephanie was wondering if she could borrow your prom dress to wear to her prom.
Love your show and love you! Thanks, Ellen. Anna

My daughter, Cathy (age 10) is convinced that ABC cares and has an idea to help many people.
We go to support groups for families dealing with illnesses (my three youngest children have auto-immune disease) and those recovering from domestic violence situations.
I "gather" things (yard sales, etc.) to help people help themselves and "dress up" those who forget to care about themselves. Helping heals. It would be nice to have a place (w/4 walls and roof) so those who understand could gather and help those with problems they are familiar with, sort of like a share house or care house.
Instead of giving so much to so few, would it be possible for ABC and you to have essay contests where people could win money like grants to start community share/care houses?
Well, it was just an idea. Thank you for your time.
May you and ABC continue to bless others.

Oh yeah, how well I remember the geeky prom dresses!! Of course, they were in style then, but yucky today. Funny, but you both look petrified and stiff. Guess you relaxed when away from the camera? Looks like you two might have hit it off for awhile? He was handsome and you were so innocent looking. Keep on laffin!!

Hey ellen! Notice how the awesome 80's made a boomarang trip back into the fashion world.... your dress might be the hottest new thing in like a year and a half (slash already was at one point, I'm sure you took hours to get 'just the right one')! Hopefully you still have it laying aroung somewhere I have a feeling that Paris will want to borrow it, pop that collar and she will be set to go!!
Ellen your awesome I super love you and your show and how you make regular people feel special EVERY day!! (i.e. calling random ppl out of the phone book, responding to emails, giving out all that free rad stuff, pretty much anything you do!) Its great that you are using your power as a celebrity to do a LOT of great instead of a little bit of good.
anywho.... my icecream is here now!! YUMMY!! (its late I should not be eating this.....:( ..oh well!)
bye Ellen!

Ellen,
Please say you didn't keep that dress? It reminds me of a drag show I saw in Kansas City. "Debbie Gibson" was doing a rendition in a sweet little number like your prom dress! Hats off to you funny lady, Seattle Iris

Ellen,
Love you, you are such a normal person, all of us can relate to, not a show off like some of the stars. You are hilarious and can really dance good. Keep up the good work with giving to charities. You have done so much, others should follow you and do the good you have done. You are a genuine person. I am from Louisiana also but the other side of the state. Lake Charles. Keep us laughing and keep up the good work and the Lord will bless you greatly.
A Louisiana fan,
Susan
P.S. I love Gladys also, she is a trip

I can s-o-o-o relate. I graduated in '74!!! However, the guy I went w/was very short (& very nice/cute...an Olympic diver and now a dr, but that's a whole different story!) but I had to find real flat shoes/sandals which wasn't fun as I love the whole platform thing...and I believe my toes were sticking up !?!
