I am flattered by the otiitanivn. However, at this time, my plate is very full, and I do not think that I will be able to devote enough time and energy to make it a sucessful program. I feel that other aafmua who are more familiar with aafmua members and FMU leadership and affairs may a better choice. I will be glad to provide nputs or the program development.Thanks.

I loved this show. I am so humbled by the poise and grace displayed by Sam. Such an amazing young woman...she will go on to pursue her dreams in the field of Science and will do great things, I have no doubt. It was so heartwarming to see the help give by the Ellen show and the companies who donated money for food, clothing and ATT for investing in this remarkable young womans education and future. I was also thrilled to hear that the family would be getting a home in the next few days. In these troubled economic times, this was a show about hope.I always watch and love the Ellen show, but this one will go down as one of my all time faves!

Great Show! It is inspiring to me to see a young girl working to get her education, under a difficult situation. I see so many wasting their life. I hope other young people see this and change their lives.

I know the whole world is hurting, our politicians have let us down.people like you Ellen, are turning this mess around.I'd. Ask you to run for president, but that would be a shame.what you are doing for mankind, puts that whole bunch to shame.I think they should create an office, especially for you.we would name your cabinet,Ellen's Golden Rule. Each day you do a kind deed, for someone in dyar need. Then they would have to know, they would have to read about each new person, that's.living on the street,or the children with the jobless dad that have nothing to eat.Until we put a face on what is going on,the people like you are our spokesmen, helping one on one.God. bless, keep on keeping on.Hope you enjoy my heart felt poem for your birthday.you're a symbol of what mankind has forgotten.

I was just catching up on my shows when I came across Samantha's story. I am also from Brentwood, NY. What many people may not know is that it is not the greatest town. High crime rate, etc. You can't be a woman and go to the laundromat or the grocery store without some many whistling at you or catcalling. They don't care how old you are.
My mom worked as a maid in a hotel to put me through Christian school. When I went to the high school to take my SAT's, I couldn't believe the level of disrespect and just the way the kids were.
I give so many props to Samantha for not only being a brilliant girl and working hard at school, but also for being able to live in a town like Brentwood and staying as sweet and positive as she is.
I myself would be homeless if it weren't for my parents. I have a special needs little girl who depends on me for everything, and I don't know what I would have done if it weren't for them.
So I too stay positive and happy in a town where drugs can be found next door and gangs abound
I have a roof over my head and food to eat. My health and my daughter's could be better, but it will all be OK.
So happy for all the help she is getting!

This show had me crying like a baby! The young lady is a person that I would like to continue to watch. I want to see how she does down the road. Ellen, you are an amazing woman yourself! You are an inspiration to everybody else with your kindness! If only everybody would watch your show and show some of the compassion that you exhibit!

What house? I must have fallen asleep. I saw where the child received 1000 in food. 5000 for jcpennys and 50K scholarship. I thought a home would be a nice touch from the sponsors, but didn't see that...do you have it footage somewhere? It's a great day when America comes together to help people. I always hear 'deserving' people. but I'm not sure what constitutes deserving. I need a lot, but deserve only what I work for. This family needs a lot, and she is working for more - a fine inspiration to us all.

im so happy cuz i actually know samantha gravy's sister ericka garvey she goes 2 my school and I'm really proud and really inspired

One sad thing is that $50,000 won't even get a person through one year of Yale or Brown. She'll probably have a very low to non-existent EFC, so that $50,000 will definitely help in her case...but for most people? I'm sitting on more than that amount of debt in student loans. Education shouldn't be that expensive. I hope that $50,000 allows her to focus on her studies, take research and travel and internship opportunities, and continue loving science the way she does now--without having to worry about financing that love. What an inspiring story! Her positive outlook is amazing. I'm glad the Ellen show was able to share it with us and help her and her family out.

Samantha's story is amazing. And your reminder for all viewers to be kind to one another is so important. Thank you, Ellen, for your great kindness. You're a great person!

This is the stuff dreams are made of...hollywood movies ... and real life...You GO Samantha!!!! Change the world...be kind.

I have to tell you I love your show. I try to watch it everyday. You are on at 4pm in my area. Between getting the kids to do their homework, picking up one kid from the bus stop, getting dinner going, I enjoy seeing the amazing things you do for people. I always cry! But I always laugh! YOU ARE GREAT! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Wow what an amazing uplifting story...Samantha is remarkable and God bless you for having her on your show and helping the whole family out. I watch you every day and you inspire us all always
Ellen! Not to mention you make me smile...
Thank you~

i love this show. nice gesture, but a house could have rocked her world. ha ha.

Ellen, you warm our hearts. You are such a positive impact on the lives of many people. Thank you for sharing Samantha's story. She is so talented and has a wonderful spirit. You're the best, Ellen! I love you!

Samantha is a true inspiration to us all! Life is difficult at times, but not giving up is key! Im so happy she was awarded for all her hard work! Great show today! Ellen, you are the best!

What a spectacular story. What I really love about this is that is shows how important schools and caring teachers are to our kids. So many times people are quick to criticize our schools and teachers. Without the support of her school and/or teacher(s) it is very unlikely Samantha would have learned about her love of science or the opportunity to compete. It does take a village to raise a child.

ps - with my above comments I want to make sure it is clear that I do not want to in any way diminish Samantha's acheivements. Obviously she has overcome unbelievable odds at such a young age. Samantha - you are an inspiration to us all. thank you for the light of hope you have shown us all.
