When I first saw the commercial I was upset with Ellen for being so disrespectful to someone with an accent with all the baggage she carries. But now I think I'm more upset with Sofia. As a person trying to blend in from a different culture, I don't think she should help add to the discrimination Latino's already encounter. Neither of them actually wrote the commercial, but both were paid big money and agreed to do it. Shame on you both!
As a white woman who comes from a bi-cultural household, this is offensive. There are people in our country being profiled for deportation because they speak with thick accents. Don't xenophobes make fun of people with limited English? Isn't it immoral to belittle minorities? Isn't Ellen an anti-bullying advocate?

I am currently reading your new book and it is hilarious. The other day I was at the beach reading it and suddenly I noticed that some people were staring at me because at times I was laughing a lot. They must have thought I was crazy but, who cares?

I must say I was very taken back by the commercial and speaking on a personal level I was very offended by it. Though I understand you are not the one who writes the script, the line is just continuing the anti-Latino movement that unfortunately is going on in our country today. Over the past two years there has been a high rise of negative attention going towards the latino population and unfortunately the participation that both you and Sofia had does not help, it just furthers the mindset of those who treat as so poorly today, and continues to underline what makes us different in a bad way.
I'm from Colombia too. I love listen to Sofia with her remarkable accent, makes me laugh. Also, this is a space for that. Please people doesn't be angry...be happy. Love U Sofia and Ellen

I felt insulted by your commercial with Sofia Vergara. I am from Colombia and I did not appreciate you making fun of her accent, I do think that is neccesary. Selling make up is one thing but steriotyping is another. You represent also a minority and know how hard it is to be rejected because your preferences as lesbian. As you like to be respected and given equal rights please respect others.
i am more of a discovery channel person than a talkshow fan but my daughter loves ellen and so i started watching the show frequently and i must say that i thoroughly enjoy it,i am glad for ellen that she has found the love of her life and i wish them forever happiness

I just saw the commercial and again I smiled and love you both I first remeber seeing Sofia on your show saying what you told her in an ear piece. She's wonderful as we all in our own way. People tend to be too critical and quick to judge. So much more to think about in this world today. I love Ellen because she's a nice genuine person and this I can tell without having never met her and probably will never meet. We all have imperfections,but GOD still loves us. I'm missing a lot of teeth and am self conscious at 55 yrs old and a nurse, but GOD still loves me. Lighten up she meant no harm. Stop thinking negative and do like she states," Be kind to one another."
