What I love about this story is Sherrie not only cares about her students, but is a role model and inspiration to these kids and others. She is teaching the value of caring about one another. Showing by example that one person can make a difference. It is no wonder Ellen connects with her.

Hello Ellen,
First of all I love your show! My name is Allen De Leon, I am a senior attending Southwest Career and Technical Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The episode featuring Sherrie Gahn and Whitney Elementary School inspired me and my senior classmates. We were instructed to create a business plan to revitalize the Las Vegas area for our school project. After watching the episode, our team; Shanne Medina, Lauren Duenas, Jhane Elder, and I, created the idea of a non-profit organization called 'A Home of Hope'. It wold be a shelter conveniently located
less than a mile away from the school. Our mission is to provide the tools necessary for rebuilding the lives of the homeless children and families of Whitney Elementary School in East Las Vegas. This is a school project, so this idea is unrealistic at the moment, however, we took it on as if it was going to become real. Recently, we visited Principal Sherrie Gahn and presented our idea, she loved it and told us to email you immediately. With your support we were hoping to transform our idea into something life changing! Please feel free to email us back. Have a great day and thank you for your time! :)

Ellen, you are the best person ever! Your show always inspires me and what you do for others is absolutely amazing! I would love to meet you someday and be able to see your show! I would cry if I met you!

The interview you did with Sherrie Gahn was the best story ever! I want to go to Vegas now just to meet this amazing principal. My son attends a school that has many families in poverty and I would love to be able to start something small at least since I don't have the money myself to do what Sherrie does, as I'm a single parent myself. I know what its like to struggle, but it breaks my heart to see how bad off those children are at her school! I'm very blessed compared to what they are going through. Makes me think twice about being grateful for what I do have.

I LOVE YOU ELLEN and Sherrie is amazing! I feel like I need to do something now.

Sherrie is so inspiring. I feel like hopping on a Plane to Texas and giving her a big hug. What she does for those children, is amazing! Most teachers don't even care where they get food from, let alone where they live. This is why I watch the Ellen Show!!!!

I enjoyed the clip and have heard this story for about 10 years. We have very good friends, retired school people, who now live in Vegas and have dedicated their lives to volunteering for this program. I was disappointed that Sherri didn't once mention the people who help make all of this happen.

Sherrie Gahn is truly an amazing and wonderful human being! These children are the future of our country. I am sure she has already inspired many. Thank you Ellen for bringing such stories to our attention! Now we can help!

thank you for your aaaaamazing story on sherrie gahn. what a beautiful heart she has.
working as a rn with homeless men and woman on a daily basis, it's heart breaking to see adults experiance homelessness, let alone young children. what an incredible way to start this season! bless you ellen and thank you for ALWAYS putting a smile on my face and warmth in my heart.

This just give me goose bumps about a wonderful, thoughtful person and the wonderful job she is doing to help these children along with their parents also. She is truly amazing.

I was in tears when I heard this touching story. The thought of kids not having food or the security of knowing they have a warm home to go to is very very sad. I am so glad there are special people in the world who have so much heart!! I can only hope that many others follow in her footsteps!!! Thank you Ellen for bringing this story to the public and also for getting Target on board!!!!

The 2nd gift was a backpack filled with books and supplies for each child!!

Sherri Gahn's story had me in tears. What an inspiration she is. Thank you, Ellen, for sharing her with us.

By the way, what was the last gift that was presented to Sherri? Our local station cut to breaking news and we missed it.

I can't get the clip to play and missed it on TV due to techical problems.

I just found this site after sending an e-mail. I just want to say that I couldn't agree more than with all the good things people are saying about Sherrie Gahn. The world sure does need more selfless people like her. She is a true inspiration to everybody.

I watched Ellen's show today and I am humbled by Sherrie Gahn. I donated to a local charity that helps children similar to what Sherrie does. This show inspired me to give more. Each time Ellen has this kind of inspiration I will give to a charity. Thank you Ellen.

This woman is truly amazing! What a wonderful thing she has done for many of her students at her school in Nevada. We need more people like her & Ellen in the world, and it would be such a better place. Thank-you Ellen and Target for helping her out. God Bless you all.

Ellen,
You continue to amaze me and I thank you for bringing such amazing stories to our attention. I am so excited for Sherrie Gahn and what she will be able to now accomplish with your help. It is truly amazing what we can do when we come together! Thank you!!!
