My Thoughts on 'Idol' -- The Top 5

Last night, "Idol" was a real game-changer. I'm feeling so many different things; surprise, delight, tingles, lumbar support. Some of it might be my new massage chair.

Y'all know I've loved James from the beginning, but last night was the first time he didn't amaze me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking his picture down from my wall.

Haley blew me away. I thought her second song, "House of the Rising Sun," was the best performance of the night. And that's saying a lot, because after "Idol," I watched an episode of "Laverne and Shirley" and Cindy Williams was particularly good.

At this point in the game, they're all incredibly talented singers. Now it's who's got that extra special something to go along with it?

When it comes to personality, Scotty stole the show. His first song, "Gone," was his best performance so far. He really impressed me. I now think he's the person to beat.

I also thought my friend Sheryl Crow did a great job. She makes a great coach, which is why she's always invited to my ribbon dancing practice.

Tonight we'll get down to the final four. I checked my brackets and I have Scotty, James, UConn and Butler. Two out of four ain't bad.

Again we have Casey? He was sent home 2 weeks ago and still no mention of Jacob Lusk? hmmmmmm I have to wonder now...

Please tell me that you are going to have Jacob Lusk on your show in the very near future?!?! I don't see anything about him here, only the other idols...

I totally agree with you about Haley having the best performance this week. And I was happy to see Casey on your show. I think he was the best performer of them all. I think if he gave a concert it would be great and all the music would sound different and make for a more enjoyable show. I love your show Ellen. Thanks for all that you do.

I just think it's sad that America is so youth-oriented, that "Idol" has a cutoff age of 30. Some contestants are still in their childhood, and should get to live it out BEFORE becoming professionals.

Some people look younger than their years (look at Ellen!) -- I want to be judged by my talent, not my age -- I guess that is what U-Tube is for! lol

Wow-American idol has so much talent that someone as God gifted as Jacob had to go home-now that is some competition. Jacob will be a great pro 4 many years. Congrats to the final 4--Scotty-u r 2 cool.

Casey shoulda been the next American Idol.......
He is, by far, the best artist on the show. I really wanna know if there is anything between him and the 2nd best on the show, Haley. I think they are an item by this point tee hee hee

Loved Casey on your show. He is a great entertainer, was sorry to see him go. Thought Jacob would have been dropped last week, But it seems the ones that don't make it go further with their careers starting with Ruben and Clay.

Big Red touching base again.. Gotta love me some Scotty 50 years ago I had an uncle Named Cactus Bill He taught us to Love country music.. His first hit was JOHNSON HAD AN OLD GREY MULE and then came CITY STREETS AND CITY LIGHTS.. he was our two hit wonder.. He used to play the guitar and bounce us girls on his lap.. don't know who enjoyed that better .. him or us but any way he had me lovin some country music// So you can see where I am going when I vote for Scotty on Idol. If I was 40 years younger he would be my tall glass of water,, Hope he wins// Love you Joann Miller aka BIG RED

Wow--Casey showed y he is so great--took over the studio--very proud. I love Kirstie alley-very funny.Real. Maksim did great job 2. Have loved Meatloafs music since highschool--great guy. Thanks 4 the fun--Ellen u r 2 funny!
