'Did You Know' with James Durbin

james durbin

James Durbin, one of my favorite "American Idol" performers, was on the show today to talk with me about "Idol" and to perform one of his hits.

James was voted off, even though I picked him to win the whole thing. It just goes to show... you never know who’s gonna win for sure. Unless, of course, you’re me, and we’re talking about the Super Bowl.

Even though he was known as "American Idol’s" heavy metal singer, James is a big fan of country and even won a country music singing contest. In other news, Scotty McCreery is starting a KISS cover band.

James doesn’t eat beef and loves tofu. He should come over for my famous Tofu Spring Rolls. They’re so easy to make. It only takes two steps; first get some tofu, second, call your chef.

James may not have won "American Idol," but I think it's clear he has an amazing career ahead of him. He’s an incredible singer and a great role model. I’m glad he was here.

James as always did an amazing job performing and I was so happy to see him on your show. I also picked him to be the winner and was really shocked when he was voted off. He is also a fantastic inspiration to everyone. He shows us that you can do anything if you believe.

I was so happy that you had James Durbin on your show, Ellen. Thank You!!! I hope he gets signed to a record label and propers as he deserves it!

As an aging head-banger and mom to two girls on the Autism Spectrum, James has become our household Idol. Can't wait for his first CD and tour. Thank you for having this wonderful young man on your show. His talent is only eclipsed by his heart!

James... woow! your amazing you know how to work alot of instruments and make music out of , you know how to sing, your amazing.. and i know their is more better things i=on your way...

After a long day of school, watching James sing on your show put a smile on my daughter's face. My daughter is 10 years old and has Tourettes, ADHD, OCD and anxiety. She has had some really tough times with school, friends, etc the last year, so seeing James sing showed her that people with Tourettes CAN do what they dream of, and it's okay to be different!! Thank you James and Ellen!!!

James is a great man and singer. He is my inspiration. About two months ago I was told that my son has Asperger's syndrome with a social anxiety and tourette's. I was unsure what the outlook for my sons life would be. I had not heard of this until the doctor said my 11 year old had it. I then seen James on american Idol and just sat and had tears in my eyes. I realized that my son can do any thing even be a great rock star. I want to say thank you to James for being a inspiration to me. He will always be my Idol.

thank you so much for having james durbin on the show and bringing awareness to tourettes syndrome. my son tyler is 12 yrs old and has tourette syndrome. he is an awesome and very talented, bright kid like James, and it was an inspiration to all the kids out there to know its ok to be different.
