Well, the "American Idol" auditions are over, which means one thing... they'll finally stop showing the clip of that poor cameraman getting trampled by the guy doing a backflip.
It also means no more crazy costumes. I liked a lot of them. My favorite was the pirate outfit, but Steven Tyler always looks great.
For a second, I thought the man dressed as a Transformer was going to have a great voice. But then I realized something... he's dressed as a Transformer. The people in costumes never do very well. I don't think Carrie Underwood came to her first audition in a chicken suit.
It makes me nervous when the contestants tell a really sad story before they sing. I think if they show us a 3-minute taped piece about how their house burned down, they should get to go to Hollywood. If not, they should at least get to go on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Randy can say, "It was a little pitchy, dawg. But take a look at your new house!"
I think they found some really great singers this season. I can't wait to see them all in Hollywood Week. And I won't have to wait long, because it starts tonight!

Hi Ellen,
My husband was in a competition last weekend. He sings with The Morris Music Men, an awesome Barbershop chorus group. There were other Chorus groups there wearing costumes and I believe that is very distracting. If you have a voice like an angel let it be heard. You do not need all the extra. Have a great day and your show is very enjoyable. It makes me very happy. Beth
