Please Help Australia Recover from Devastating Floods

While most of us in the United Starts are digging out of a lot of snow, our friends in Australia are currently suffering with extreme flooding. And they need our help. In the state of Queensland (which has been hardest hit), an area the size of France and Germany combined has flooded. Just the other day, a freak storm created a 26-foot wall of water that washed through the town of Toowoomba. It killed 9 and left 66 people missing.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been affected and the cost of rebuilding homes, businesses and infrastructure is estimated as high as $5 billion.

They really need our help. You can help the Queensland Government by donating directly to them right here. Every bit will help.

Well, I'm a major google fan. Even if its not eefciifnt for you, please keep using it.. Even for fun, you can get a lot of cool and interesting irrelevant information there (trying to make it sound tempting). Good luck finding what you're looking for anyway.VA:F [1.9.13_1145]please wait...VA:F [1.9.13_1145](from 0 votes)

just i need help from you please, please,Ellen.

C'mon Ellen. You may have heard of a little earthquake in NZ that killed nearly 180 people, also another one in Japan that was devastating and the death toll is still rising. Love Aus, but they are one of the few countries that avoided the recession. NZ and Japan both have a greater need than Australia.

Just to say if I can remember how many times aussies have come over to the U.S to help out in disasters that the American people have been through, that some people can run us down the way they have. We are bred tough we only ask for a little help not as if we are asking for to much.
I think you are doing a good job with your show and helping out people who really need it. Keep up the good work.
As far as I am concerned you are (adopted Aussie)

Ellen, I feel guilty for asking for help when looking and thinking of all others who are living in the freshness of devastation, loss of life, and uncertainity. While I can bearly keep myself afloat, I am so grateful you and Portia have good heart and focus on meaningful making differences to those less fortunate. I pray for your gifts to be blessed and your mothers. With love from me to you2. P.S. I seem to be everywhere on your site but I am trying to familiarize myself with it. You have great work being done by really good folks.

Thanks Ellen and for all those who are making a donation. The Australian Communities are working together, as Aussies do. The flooding started in Qld, which was the worst hit, gone through parts of NSW, there is now flooding in Victoria and we in South Australia, have been hit already in a few places, but the worst is still to come here.

It is going to take years for Qld to recover and rebuild. I haven't read the 'negative posts' on Facebook people are referring to, but it is a really sad reflection on those people. Australians are always there for the rest of the world when needed, we don't hesitate. We helped in New Orleans for example, there are too many, to list. What if it was your home, how would u feel then? How can a decent human being have an attitude like that? They can't, enough said.

Australia is reaching out for help for a change!
Watch some of the footage, read on the internet, look on Youtube. Australians are hurting, please give what you can and know we are always there when the rest of the world needs us. Thankyou.

Thank you so much Ellen you really are a very special person for making the plight of us so known to people. Everyone is quite overawed by what has happened and to be honest its gonna take a while to recover. But we are Aussies and we will get by just don't forget that we still need people to come and holiday in Queensland

Thank you so much for being the kind, caring person that you are.

With much love from Down Under,

Emma

I can't believe how heartless and rude some people can be. For people to say "They always said they were ...the land DOWN UNDER....LOL now they are..........LOL" (refering to the facebook comments) leaves me just speachless. I believe some American's are forgetting the fact we have helped them in many ways and have forgotten how much we cared and helped them in the 9/11 disaster, and i must say, we did NOT make "funny" jokes about their country. People have been killed, injured and have lost everything. Where has all the love gone in the world?

Thank you for mentioning this your site. I live near there and it's just crazy. With the river being at it's highest peak I'm lucky that Maroochydore didn't get flooded.
I saw that brazil got flooded this morning but I had no IDEA that it had reached 380 peope. That is way worse then what Australia is suffering. I would just like to say Rest In Peace to all of those who have lost their lifes. I wish their families affected a good recovery.

Thanks ellen,

I live in brisbane and work at brisbane airport...

The support is amazing thank you.

Jodie

thank you!

To besillysometimes - I was referring to the comments left by others on Ellens Facebook page....if you actually read my comments properly, you might be aware of that! I not once said it was Ellen herself, just said someone officially has to step up and tell those being so negative about Australians and our tragic situation that it is not appropriate!!
I was effected by the floods directly, although I didn't lose my house it took on water, but I am not complaining as it's not as bad as a huge number of people I was very lucky!! The streets around me look like a war has hit our small towns, my family all over QLD have been effected by the floods all across the state, the shops are bare and we have not received any supplies where we are, the devastation around me takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. I have no problem with your comment on THIS page earlier!

As for Anonymous - what did I do when New Orleans was under water, I watched in horror, and had such sympathy for those effected, those who lost lives, and I went selfishly without and donated what I could.. Does it matter?? I for one certainly did not get online and say "Oh it's America they have a government that can pay for the clean up themselves" etc etc.... I felt deeply for them, and had utter respect for those helping others..... I don't see how that has anything to do with the behaviour of people like yourself on Ellen's Facebook page!

As I said on Facebook Ellen, thank you!

Thank you so much Ellen, for helping get the this message out to as many people as possible.
I live 2 hours from the State of Queensland and cannot believe what has happened sooo close.
These guys need ALL the help they can get, 75% of the state is basically well just ruined.
So many people still missing, it is just terrible.

Thank you once again, and please America and anywhere else if you can help in any way big or small Queensland will thank you forever!

This is the time now more then ever to "Be Kind To One Another",and help each other out :)

HI ELLEN....... I DO RT STOKE..... I LOVE U,,. THAT .....NICCI.....

Austrailans will overcome this they have alot of strength. I cant believe some Americans could be so rude. This is crippling our economy and alot of our infrstructure is destroyed is so hurtful when Australia has always helped others.

People have lost their lives and some of u have basically told Australia to get stuffed, you are inhumane.

no matter who u r or your nationality people should always help if others are if need
