'The Safe Dog Handbook' by Melanie Monteiro

Dogs are a loving part of the family and it's important to make sure they are safe. Each year, thousands of dogs are hurt or killed by easily preventable accidents. Dog-lover Melanie Monteiro learned this the hard way when she adopted an accident-prone Labrador puppy. She realized that there was little information easily available, so she created a great book called "The Safe Dog Handbook."

The handy resource includes tips to puppy-proofing your home, first aid information, guides to toxic plants and much more, and is essential for any dog owner who wants to ensure their pet is safe. It's been a long time since I have had a dog-I bought this book and feeling better prepared I am actively searching rescues for the perfect dog for my family. There's lots of useful information you never thought would be necessary!

I think this book is important for every dog owner. It is well written, well bound with a spiral binding so the page stays open when you use it, and the photos are very helpful. I keep it in plain sight in case of any emergency involving my wonderful pets. I have given several copies to my dog loving friends, and everyone loves it.

I've had plenty of dog books over the years but my go-to book is Melanie's Safedog handbook. It's big, bright red and easy to spot on the bookshelf, easy to reference, even in a panic moment and easy to understand. Also important. Let's face it, with a dog, life happens fast. No responsible dog owner should be without this one!

The Safe Dog Handbook saved my dogs life after she ate a prescription drug of mine. I never thought I would be so glad to see my dog vomit!!!

So you think you know everything there is to know about keeping your dog safe? Think again. Melanie has written an informative and very fun book that is a must for all dog owners new and seasoned.
Just found out about a new health hazard in this season of "sprucing" up gardens...fir bark. Use another type such as hemlock if your dogs like to lounge in the bark like mine do.

There's nothing sexy about dog safety. Except my wife. She put her heart and soul into this book and you will never know how much you need it until you read it. It really could save your dog's life. Hi honey. See you tomorrow.

There is not another book on the market like this one - and anyone that has a dog or is thinking about getting a dog, should have it! It is well thought out, easy to use, great pictures and super informative. I'm so glad you are spreading the word and saving canine lives. Way to go Ellen!

This book is literally a life saver. I have a Cavalier King Charles puppy who eats absolutely everything in sight... everything, that is, except his actual food. I can't tell you how many times I have consulted the book for it's comprehensive list of toxic substances. Having The Safe Dog Handbook has taken the panic out of puppy-hood. I am so pleased that Ellen is featuring it. Certainly a must have for EVERY dog owner.

I love my pups with all of my heart! I think there are a lot of things people do not think of-this is why The Safe Dog Handbook is a go out and get! There is every book under the sun for children and how to raise them etc... This is exactly what you need for your fur-kid :-) Love this book!! A definite for the book shelf!

Such a wonderful book! I give it to 'all' my friends who have dogs. And Melanie Monterio is not only a fabulous write rand a great friend of the animals- but is a real hoot to boot! Such a great way to make a book that could be such a bore...Way to go Ms Monterio!

This book is so informative and wonderful, I have grown up with dogs all my life but found so much great information in this book. It also makes a great gift for any dog owner.
