Smokey the Cat Keeps On Keepin' On!

We've had a lot of questions about our good friend, Smokey the Cat. We want you all to know that Smokey is in good health and still regularly visits the set. Since there's so much activity happening on stage, we've moved his dishes to a safer and more permanent home in the studio.

Since they're in a safer location, it's hard for us to get a camera there. I want you to know that we are still feeding him his Halo pet food and Ellen water every day. And, of course, if anything major happens, you'll know about it!

The picture above clearly states that this is a more permanent home for Smokey. Ha! Why did you have or allow his things to be taken away? The tour guides have told us that they see NOTHING anywhere for Smokey any longer. How could you do that? You have abandoned him. He is "our" studio cat too but someone is telling you to ignore him, that no one wants to hear about him.
He needs to be brought back front and center.

Hi Ellen,

Please put the bowls back under the stairs or on the stage. Since you had them moved, we RARELY see Smokey anymore and it jut seems so very wrong. Smokey is supposed to be your studio kitty, introduced to us back in February 2008. Why would you forget about him? You never mention him. I know the show gets phone calls and emails on Smokey but it seems you just don't care OR is it that you are completely unaware of how much the public wants to see Smokey. Such an easy thing to do! Put his bowls back where they were supposedly "more permanent." Thanks ...

Are Smokey's bowls not under the steps any longer? I thought this was a more "permanent" location. He was seen once in a 2-week period. That tells us all that his food bowls have been moved somewhere that no longer brings him to the stage area. Smokey has been here a long time. We miss him. Do you think that we have all forgotten about him?
We ask that the bowls be returned.

Why was Smokey thrown out of his place under the steps? Makes no sence, he was happy there. He was coming out and greeting the tour groups, they liked him. What happened to the animal lover? Now he is not on the cams anymore. We are upset! Put his things back! By the way, does anyone read our e-mail? Seems like no one gives a hoot! We want Smokey back on the cams. He should not have been thrown out. How sad!!!!! Ellen does anyone ever tell you about Smokey??????????? I bet not!!!!!!

I thought this was to be Smokey's "more permanent" area for his food, water, and condo. Why was it moved? Can we please have an updated picture? It should be put back on the stage!

I am so glad to see Smokey again! We sent him a Kritter Kondo Indoor/Outdoor kitty playpen, does he get to use it?

I just noticed the question that I think is directed to me.

I don't think Smokey really appears at a specific time.

He is around a lot more.

I see him on the audience camera a lot, since it has the widest view.

The videos I have are either on my jlilest YouTube account or jlilesthy, which is the account I'm using now.

Smokey has been in Ellen's chair and climbing on the wall where the guests enter and the right hand entry area too, and also on the table where Ellen's props are placed during the show.

As the others mentioned, he has been checking out the tour groups.

I was a bit surprised he didn't show up during the QVC rehearsal.

Smokey for the past few weeks has been coming around more in the afternoon when the tour groups go through. Ask any of the tour guides, they will tell you. Smokey appears to greet the tours, lays on the floor of the set or on the stage, rolls around and shows off his belly. He won't allow anyone to touch him though ... still too nervous for that. But he has come a long way since last summer. Last summer he never came around the tours and this summer it has been a joy to watch him. This would make a very cute little segment for Ellen to do. Smokey her Studio Kitty greeting the summer tour groups.

Smokey has been very much around this past 2 weeks or so ... he seems to love the tour groups that go through in the afternoon and can often be seen on Cam 2 and 3 wandering closeby the people. Still not letting anyone touch him, but he sits on the stage, sleeps in Ellen's chair and watches. .

Hello Smokey followers . we have been watching Smokey all summer the best we can on Cams 2 and 3. Smokey is very busy in the afternoon making his appearance during tour time. He is much braver this summer than he was last summer with people. I hope StarDot gives us a Cam 5 so we can view Smokey the way we used to.

Hello Smokey followers! I see the date has been changed on this picture. It has been october 29, 2009 and now it jumped to July 12. They need to put a cam 5 in for smokey.

James, there has been a large group of us following Smokey since February 2009. We also watch for him and post on him almost daily on a Facebook page. We had to .... since all our posts keep getting deleted here.

We need a cam 5 for Smokey. Seems they managed to get a picture of him here somehow.

James Liles are you the person that had put a video on YouTube with the mouse manager "Smokey the cat" at the Ellen show? You see him all the time, could you tell us about what time he shows up, is it eastern, central or pasific time? Some of us are now on Facebook. The picture you're seeing of Smokey is an old one from October 29th 2009. All the old blogs from all over the world were deleted. Thanks for your help. We miss seeing Smokey. We hope they put a cam 5 under the steps so we see him.

He just recently climbed onto the top of the wall next to the entrance that guests enter the stage from.

I see him almost every day walking through the studio.
