Portia's Inspiring Visit to The Gentle Barn

Ellen and Portia recently learned about an amazing organization called The Gentle Barn, which rescues and rehabilitates farm animals in need of help. The other day, Portia visited with some cameras -- you don't want to miss this amazing piece. You can help Tonic.com support The Gentle Barn here.

I so want to go there, wonderful wonderful wonderful. I am a pet groomer by trade, so now you know where i come from. Beautiful for legged people.

Gee whiz, and I thouhgt this would be hard to find out.

You're the one with the brains here. I'm wcathing for your posts.

Back in shocol, I'm doing so much learning.

Hats off to wohveer wrote this up and posted it.

We live in Toronto and are going to L.A. for New Year's and a visit to The Gentle Barn will be a must! I'm soooooo looking forward to it. We've been vegetarians for 5 years and there 's nothing like "hugging a cow", like Portia said.

Ellen I just shared Portia's video to the gentle barn on my facebook...how beautiful and touching this was. I am definitely going to take my family there for the holidays! Thank you for using your celebrity to bring awareness to innocent animals!

Ellen, it is awsome seeing all the comments, I have Gentle Barn on facebook and have gotten to read the amazing stories of these animals on a daily basis. I am a true Elly Mae, animals are my life. I have my own rescues, and yes they are pampered, lol. I can't seem to get rescue horses who are slated for slaughter up here ,, but I post and repost all that goes on about this horrid act. I wish I could do more, distance forbids this. I feel I am at least doing a tiny part to help. Not as much I would like, but something. Thank you so very much, for what you and Portia are doing,, you both are truly awsome. Ronny

hey ellen big big fan of u. but lately i haven't seen ur show. sorry. hope u r doing okay. keep up the good work. and remember to always smile nomatter what.

Abuse to animals is a horrifying crime that ultimately touches us all, both as a society and as individuals. The Gentle Barn is a voice for those animals without a voice. To anyone reading these reviews - Please show compassion and donate to this wonderful haven. All the information you will need to become part of the Gentle Barn family is contained within their new website. Get involved, PLEASE. Another way to spread the word about The Gentle Barn Foundation - We have added The Gentle Barn logo to our company website and social networking sites and will be encouraging our clients to do the same. Kind regards Caroline Milligan

Hi Ellen&Portia-

I kept my word and sent-off my donation to 'The Gentle Barn' today-by snail mail.

I'll write later.

Love you, Mama and BIG HUGS.
Michele

hey ellen and portia i would like to thank you for the gentle barn story. you two have inspired me in so many ways to not give up on my dreams and never stop having fun are the two biggest things i have learned from you. But i also decided to give up meat a few months ago. everyone around me thinks that i am crazy to do so but after watching portia at the gentle barn there is no doubt in my mind that it was the right choice. i will one day go all the way vegan and reach my dreams and that is in part thanks to you. i pledge to donate 20$ every two weeks to the gentle barn. i know that it is not that much but it is all that i could give. thanks again p.s. i want to hug a cow!!!

Thanks for the great segment about The Gentle Barn. I want to remind people that there are similar sanctuaries for farm animals in other parts of the country. I am a supporter of Sasha Farm in Manchester, MI, and I encourage everyone to search for these wonderful places in your own area. They, too, deserve our help, and you might not have to travel to California to hug a cow.

I loved the Gentle Barn. I want to go there. If I was a philanthropist I would donate a lot of $$$$ to them and other animal rescue places. Keep the animal segments coming - including the Gentle Barn.
Blessings to all the animals and especially to those around the oil problem.

Hey, Ellen :)

How about a LAUGH, DANCE, HUG A COW shirt?!

The segment on "The Gentle Farm" brought me to tears and reminds me of the special relationship I've had with all the animals in my life: Now, Miss Polly, our 13 year old rescued Bichon, and a wonderful 17 1/2 year old cat, Dylan, born to our mom cat in 1993. Yup, he's still around and has survived a major stroke, has kidney disease and Alzheimer's. You did read that correctly!

I want to e-mail or mail you a poem that was given to me by a co-worker when we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put our dog Bridgette down in 1999. I KNOW you will shed a tear and I want to share it with you and your audience.

P.S. Remember when you danced with the Laker Girls and sprained your back? Then you brought them back and tried them in Ellen Court. My daughter, Allison, was one of those girls. For her and the entire Laker organization, I apologize!

I loved this segment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love farm animals!!! THey are cute! :)

Love to get away to there! Someday!

animals need us and we them! I think life on earth without animals would be h*ll. Animals are angels and touch our spirits! Love animals! I can't imagine life without them. I am glad they are here! I don't like it when I hear of animal cruelty. Not one bit I oda.

well... enough posting for now... c u tomorrow E!

I really loved the segment you had on The Gentle Barn. I wish I were in Portia's shoes! She's so lucky to have been there. The barn is one amazing place, and it's good to know that these animals are receiving lots of genuine care and love. Plus the way they help people too, by showing that they can overcome abuse and emotional obstacles in the same manner that these animals have.

I've tried to get tickets for my Senior Group. On line I can only get 4. I need about 20 -25 and a guarantee that we can sit in the audience instead of the rif-raf room. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated. I am 67 but most of the members are 70 and over but the lively bunch you'll ever meet.

Wow that was so lovely. Jesus! Portia's just so beautiful.. She really is, and she's so fascinating. Thanks Portia and Ellen for the support you are giving to this farm. You GO guys!

Just love that we get to see Portia more and more on the show. She's amazing.
