La Roux, one of the newest electropop duos from the UK, has shown that they have what it takes to make it in the US. Their self-titled debut album went platinum in the UK, and their hit single "Bulletproof" made it to the Top 10 all across the world. In the US, the single made it to #1 on the Hot Dance Charts -- and they're just getting started.
La Roux originally formed in 2006, when mutual acquaintances introduced Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid. The two found a connection and worked to develop an album. Originally focusing on acoustic performances, they eventually decided to move into electropop and dance music. In 2008 they released their first single, "Quicksand," which earned them instant attention -- and a spot opening for Lily Allen on her 2009 UK tour. After finding more success with their next singles, their debut album "La Roux" was released in June of 2009, went platinum in the UK and sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide.
Their success has not gone unnoticed -- La Roux was invited to join the 2010 Lilith Fair tour across the US. Before they begin, they stopped by the show to perform their hit single, "Bulletproof."
