Dear Ellen,
I am watching American Idol as I write this, and first I have to tell you I love your hair lately! It's got that happy -go-lucky pixie/Bob's Big Boy look!
The reason I'm writing is to ask for advice or any help you can offer. Here's my story:
My husband and I have been married over 18 years and have 2 daughters, 12 and 16. We have rented an apartment since the day we got married, and have, like most couples, have hoped to have a home of our own to raise our girls in. At this point, we rent a run down garage apartment with our dog and cats for the past 11 years. Our landlord has made it clear that our situation is changing drastically when he sells the property soon.
So, now our hope is to buy a tiny house and give the girls rooms of their own, and the truly secure feeling that their home is not going to be taken from them.
You know that to have a place to call home is the most basic need of a person, and as a mom, I feel it every day as I wonder where we will live in the next few months.
My big problem is that my husband Kurt needs about $6000 for a down payment, and we would like to borrow it for a short time, just until we get back the tax credit for first-time buyers. We need to do something in the next 6 weeks because the tax credit ends then.
So am wondering if you know anyone we could borrow the cash from for about 14 weeks? I think of you as a person who knows lots of people, you do know some people, right?
Well, think about it, E.
My pomeranian, Maximus (yes, he is named after the Gladiator.) sends his love and puffy hugs.
Oh yeah! I almost forgot to tell you! I just got a job at Petco in the grooming salon! I hope to become a pet stylist this year! I'm super excited about that! I've been out of work for a year!
Let me know if you get any ideas for my predicament. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!
Lots of love,
Laura Lohr

Dear Ellen,
My name is Ophelia Jennings. I was married for 14 years and lived in Ohio. My husband put me out of our home along with my granddaughter who is 17 years old. We relocated to Charlotte, NC. I am 61 years old so I got a senior citizen apt that is 55 and older. We are barely making it here. I cannot
find a job, I have been looking tirelessly. My grandchild needs shoes & clothes. She goes to school embarrassed. We do all we can to conserve by eating only once a day and not turning on lights. Ellen I am so overwhelmed. I feel like giving up. I feel so hopeless and bad for my grandchild. I see your helping others so I decided I would write to you also. I'm not expecting anything though. Just wanted to write to see if you could at all help us to pay rent for 6 months. By then I'm believing for a job. We get $489 a month. Rent is $375 and electric is $62. We need just a little help to get going in NC. If you read this I love your show I watch it everyday I am a huge fan.

Sincerely,
Ophelia Jennings

Hi Ellen
I lost my job in January of 2009 and finally found a job in March of 2010. I had not watched you show until then, I was feeling sorry for myself having a lot of resumes and not finding a job. I turned the televison on and there you were dancing, laughing and it was hysterical. It made me forget for a litle while how tough it was finding a job, paying the bills and whatever the next step would be. I make a point of watching you or taping you from that day forward. It has been a struggle but life goes on and I know now it could had been a lot worse. Now to the point of my writing this letter, my oldest daughter (Diana Debord) is married with two children, ages 9 and 7. Their dad (Robbie) lost his job this year and is working odd jobs trying to stay afloat. Diana transmission is coming out of her 2002 van, bills stacking up and the thought of it breaking down on her or driving it thinking it could break down with her and the children just weights heavy on my shoulder. My husband (Marvin) and I myself cannot buy them a vehicle. We have discussed trying to fix it but will it last. I know that their is a lot of people needing help and the rural area that we live in the job rate is around 10%. If you can do something to help them out I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for listening and I look forward from hearing from you.

Hey Ellen I just recently started watching your show...It's now "My show", I gotta see it...I get dissapointed on the weekends when im up at eight am waiting for 9 am to come around and then realize its saturday...I am writing you this letter because I want a new GMC.jk..haha at least im honest but along with that I wanted to share my story with you and show how much you would bless me and my soon to be twin babies with.
I met a man about nine months ago it was great for a few months and then little to my knowledge he was breaking me down and controlling my every move I didnt realize it until he started abusing me in public and getting away with it somehow. I have gotten myself into some trouble with the law regarding his pressure and my nieve choices...Im also expecting from this lovely young gentlemen not one baby but two...Identical twins...Great Right...Well yes I feel so blessed that GOD would bless me with such a rare experience but I sometimes wnoder why me...I made my family aware of the mental physical and emotional abuse that was taking place and told them I couldnt take it anymore which obviously created a very hard bad break up...I sold my car while I was with him and everyday realize things I no longer have because I lost everything making the decisions I made to be with him...Including dropping out of cosmotology school and quitting my job, selling my car, and moving from hotel to hotel weekly after not having anywhere to stay...After thinking about it I have deciding not to be selfish and have these two little blessings but I am continually worried about how Im going to make it...Im twenty starting at square one agian and I would be so grateful and suprised to be blesses to maybe meet you or hear your voice on the phone and maybe accept a blessing in the process...thanks for your time...

Dear Ellen,

Not only do I love your show and watch it everyday, but my 10 yr. old son loves you too! Whenever he is home from school he looks forward to watching your show. Anyhow, just wanted to tell you about something he said one day when watching you give away a car and $10,000. He said that he now knows why your name is Degeneres....because you are so GENEROUS!! I loved it and had to share that with you.

Keep making us laugh!
Mina

Hello Ellen,
I read a funny article today someone sent me via AOL. It was about a woman who was driving on the freeway in Florida, and hit another car. This sounds like a normal occurrence, with one exception. When the police offices arrived on the scene, they discovered that while she was driving she had her former husband steering the vehicle while she shaved her bikini area. When asked why? She said she was on her way to her boyfriend's house and wanted to be ready. I thought it would be funny if you started a petition that makes people sign a pledge not to shave your private area's when driving. (Oprah has one for no texting or talking on cell phone and this one is much funnier as we are in L.A. and already have that law passed. What do you think????

Dear Ellen,

March 12, 2010

The outfit you wore on The Ellen Show today was one of your best! Please keep wearing white, as it enhances and brightens your best-ever smile. I've found that fabrics with sheen are richer on the screen. Your white bouse glowed under your cream-colored jacket. And your beige-laced shoes completed your elegant look.

On girl's night of IDOL this week, you commented that you weren't hearing soul performances from some of the contestants. They didn't seem to be connected in an emotional way to their song choices. I call those types of performances "empty performances". They're ones in which singers might be pitch-perfect, but fail to stir the audience with feelings and emotions. To the contrary, singers who might fail to sing in perfect tune, but who demonstrate a gut-wrenching attachment to the song, leave me with chills and tears. I, too, was missing soul performances from some of the girls.

What I especially love about having you as an IDOL judge is your spontaneity to unexpected remarks that come your way. In one second, you give a winner come-back comment that's spot-on, clever, and usually comical. And when you quote words to tunes or quote song titles, it's obvious to viewers that you take your IDOL job seriously and have researched a talent genre that is not your own. You're a star judge! And one who researches.

I'm a writer, and since you said on IDOL that you need new words for "great", here are a few adjectives with which you can applaud performances: knock-out, breathtaking, astonishing, brilliant, rare, supreme, first-class, immensely moving, majestic, exalting, superb, flawless, refined, honest, polished, exceptional, pro-performance, accomplished, stirring, outstanding, extraordinary, incomparable, frontrunner, tremendous, inspiring, peerless, exceptionally unique, distinct, irreplaceable performance, stunning, luminous, respendent, glorious - you know, all the adjectives that describe you!

See you tonight for the boy's night.

Dear Ellen,
I faithfully watch your show everyday. Puts a smile on my face. I've had Lupus for 35 years...as a teen it was touch and go. Most recently, I worked as a flight attendant...that was 2 1/2 yrs ago. The Lupus returned and I was hospitalized in SFO for a week. I returned home to WI and illness only worsened. Many people are not aware of Lupus. I don't look like I am ill or on several medications daily. I moved from my home to another state hoping to be closer to family after Mom passed of Cancer. Things got worse. I got a dog, a Bichon that I named Ollie and followed with a female, his sister, named Gabbie. They have been my very best friends and my reason to get out of bed some days. I can't work, everything I saved I have spent to live...paying rent, food, medical "everything". I am down to about nothing but a hopeful outlook. My only family is my father in FL. I don't know if people understand illness and what it's like to "keep trying". It's hard to look forward to each day, when I haven't the answer to get caught up. It's just me and my dogs, and there's lots of love. They watch YOU too :) If I could just get out of the rut and look forward to something, my world might turn around. I worked in travel most of my working years...in between 4 hip replacements and everything else. I could use a little help!
Each day I watch what you do for people and I think it's awesome. I so love watching people's outlook on life change the moment they pick up the phone or answer their door and hear your voice. What a life you have being able to make others smile. I bet you wake every morning and "dance"...I wish I could! :) Thanks for reading.

Hi Ellen!

My name is Erika Boutwell and I live in North Carolina. My husband Evan and I were just watching American Idol and I said "man I love Ellen, let's name our first baby Ellen!" I decided that I had to find a way to write you a letter. I just love your show, and I love the way that you have fun just being yourself. Your personality is contagous, and I love the way you dance! :) I am a social worker and I work with a lot of people who deal with difficult situations, so with all of the negativity in life these days I love the fact that I can always count on one hour of fun and games while watching your show. Watching you on idol has really been a speical treat for me! I can get double the Ellen! I have now turned my husband Evan into an Ellen-lover, too! I hope that one day we can attend one of your shows. Since your show is across the US from where we live the plane tickets would be quite expensive. But one day we will get there! Keep doing what your doing, and keep being yourself!

Warm Regards,
Erika

Staring over in this new life I have found myself in, having time to watch your show always gives me a little giggle everyday. I know it's time to go pick up my son when the dance is over. So i guess you have brought life, dance and laughter into my home I am a suddenly divorce single mom. I've been on disability since 2002. I am in my second semester at a community college, My major is Recording Indutry Management. I hope to work in the music business as a mixing board engineer. My youngest son is a senior in high school and my oldest is in his last of college. I am trying to keep my house, car and attend school but it has been very hard to make my limited income stretch to cover everything. I was wondering if you had any scholarships or grants that you offer? Any information would be very welcomed.

If you can help me please help me if you can. let me know by email me thanks Rosemarie Millen

Dear Ellen,

1st: I love you and your show!! "HAVE A LITTLE FUN TODAY" Excellent...love it! I watch your show every day and love you on American Idol this year! I love your energy and my Grandmother (who has now passed) loved watching you as well as she loved to dance and enjoyed that was how you started your show. Thanks for being there with her and reminding her of her younger years when she danced. She always got such a kick out of your show it was cute to see her smile and laugh when telling me about it.

2nd: My cousin PJ (who is like a brother to me) had a baby boy, Patrick Joseph. Elizabeth had Patrick at 28 weeks pregnant. He was born premature at 2 lbs, 11oz's. He is a little peanut but such a fighter as he was already taken off the oxygen tubes and is breathing now on his own! He has gained 1 oz within the last 2 weeks which is great progress! PJ has always been the MOST thoughtful person. He came to X-mas this year and bought all of the kids in our family a gift - I'm not sure how he did it because he didn't have a job.... Unfortunately he doesn't have anything and has been without a job for quite some time trying to support his son Aiden (13 yrs old) and now his baby Patrick and wife Elizabeth. They live in a very small home that is run down that they rent. My aunts and I recently went out there to help get the babies room ready for when little Patrick comes home which may not be for another 4 weeks. We got a lot of the necessities, but there is so much more they need. We had a shower planned, but it never happened because the baby was born the week before the shower and had to be cancelled. Their bathroom walls are worn down, the floors are bad, they have a very small TV, no rocker for the babies room, and no computer to even order things for the baby if they needed to. It could really be a cute place with a little work. I am writing today, hopeful that somehow you can help make his life a little better for him and his family. Any help would be so much appreciated.

Thanks Ellen for who you are and all that you do to brighten the spirits around the world.

Sincerely,

Gina Bryles

Hi Ellen,
I wrote you awhile back to let you know how much you my mother and I love you. Since her death my life has really hit rock bottom. I have Meniere's Disease, which is loss of hearing in both ears and it also affects my equilibrium so most times i do walk with a cane for stability. I am on disability right now, but I am trying to find a job so that I can get off. I live with my brother, which is very discouraging. I'm not able to do my share in my portion of the household bills. My disability check is being offset because of my school loans, which makes it even harder to pull my weight around the house. To top it off my car is not well. I know all this is happening to build my strengh and character, and with God, i will get through this. I've barely been out of Minnesota in my life and I feel like I need a break away from it all, before I breakdown. Therefore, I want to ask you if you would please send me a ticket to your show. Your audience has so much fun...and I NEED fun. Thank you for reading. Love you lots...Jayme from Mpls, MN

Hi Ellen,
my Name is Laura ledezma I'm eighteen years old.
I love your show. My mom and I think its the most entertaining show thats on tv :) I love the games ! They are so hilarious. I love the fact that you have a cool dj playing great songs: ) I love the episode when the pussycat dolls came on your show and they sang that song "jai ho":)

On February 10,2010 my mom was in a car accident. My mother is a strong woman. But because of the accident my mom left collar bone is broken the doctor told her to rest for four to six weeks but a day after my mom was told to rest she went right back to work. My mother car is damaged beyond repair.so she has no car. I see her cry for being in pain, worrying about paying the bills, and being criticized for not cleaning well with one arm. She cleans houses and babysits. My mom struggles everyday . Her bosses complain all the time, that puts more stress on her that when she came home she passed out..she the only one that supports this family. I myself have been trying to find a job to pay the hospital bills. It kills me to see her cry and be in soo much pain...she is a wonderful mother and person. Even though what she going through watching your show puts her in a good mood and makes her laugh ;)she has no idea I'm writing you this .but we will all appreciate it soo much if you can help out in anyway. if you can.
Peace &love
Your fan
Laura Ledezma

Hey Ellen, I know how much you love vidios, I thought you might enjoy this one. You have to go to stupidvidios.com on Bing and look up
Amzing street drummer. I was blown away at this guy. Maybe you could have him on your show. The vidio is pretty awsome. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Dear Ellen,

I don't think it will help if I brag about your Idol judging prowness, lol, I just know that I need help, Opra will not work.

I am not asking to go on your show, but somehow, with all your creative staff, just one one small email, with a hint of where to go, would be helpfull.

My Problem,

After a 20 year marrarge and a divorce, I started looking for a wife online through a russian wife site. I know what everyone says, but I had the chance to train several exchange students from Russia, and the Eukraine, and fell in love with the culture.

Here is my problem.

I met a woman who has become my best friend. At no time (we have been corrisponding for 2 years, and over 160 letters between the two of us) has she ever given me the incling of more than frienship, although I know we are soulmates.

I am afraid to do the math, but every letter cost about $8.00, but in retrospect, it is not a bad deal.

When I write her a letter, she goes to a shop ran by the company, and they translate my letter, and then her letter to me.

My biggest problem is that I am not rich, and twice (once a year ago) when I made plans to visit my friend, and I think my soulmate, I have been screwed by my bank.

The first time last year, the second I had the money, my bank account was overdrawn by $1500.00 by, no one would guess this, my account being hacked through ebay, and my PAYPAL ACCOUNT.

People think Paypal is secure, but it not for most, they sent me a new card that gives me security numbers now, and paid me back, as did my bank ($500. in overdraft fees), but it did not change the fact that it destroyed my life, my time for my sons wedding, and everything else for 60 days.

It happened again, this time, a glitch in having a bank account from that bank Obama saved, and a $1.00 overdraft took 3 of my paychecks in overdraft fees, before I could straighten it out.

This also led me to not write to my best friend, and probably soulmate, shees, but I can't even figure out what to do now.

I finally got a letter from the sight, but she is not taking letters anymore (leading me to believe that everything we had was real, and she is just not out there working letters.

I want to put up a billboard in her city, or an ad in the paper. I want to pay, I am not asking for money.

Pleassssse....I hope one of your production assistats sees this, and knows true love,

give me the name of an ad agency in Odessa, Ukraine,

Once I find her,

I'll give you the story for free
