Shiver me timerbs, them's some great information.

Hey ellen, congratulations!!!

Im from NZ, ya know that beutiful place SE of Aussie...and i am a medic turned PT. So not guna tell you what you doing is wrong as i heard you say a while back that its just 'cake' your giving up :)

Theres no need to start over again as what you have gained so far is enough to keep you going!! if you stop and start again, your just going to set yourself up for another hiccup...so lets just call these so called 'hiccups' as a wee treat. i so dont want to go over how the body works with glucose breakdown etc., (maybe cos im a kiwi and super laid back)lol...but a one thing that ive learnt with experience and clients is that:
- no deprivation: in simple terms dont tell yourself that you cant have certain things, this is because our brain doesnt process the words 'cant' and 'dont'. An example of this is say, you are riding your bike downhill and heading towards 2 trees and you can either ride in between them, or crash into one of them, so when you tell yourself "dont crash into the trees", what do you end up doing 90% of the time?? yeh you crash into the trees....BUT if you tell yourself "I'll just ride through the middle of those trees", or "I'm going to zoom straight in between those 2 trees"....WooHoo what do you end up achieving?! you end up achieving what you told yourself to do. This is why, in most cases i tell my clients to eat 4 squares of chocolate everyday at luchtime or morning tea (if thats what they crave) and therefore they never binge because they have it everyday and therefore dont crave it and eventually dont woory if they have it or not in the end...help much?

well i hope ive made sense...i remember being overseas with some americans one time and they said that they couldnt understand me 'lingo' haha but yea peace out and take care sugar lover :p

Hi Ellen, keep up the sugar free diet it will work wonders,in time you won't even miss it.What you don't have you don't miss.I know from experience, I used to be a chocoholic, stopped and never looked back except for Easter when"so called friends"spoiled me with chocolate.Love your show, the dancing, singing and your cheerful caring nature :)Oh"Congratulations"on the beautiful wife you chose and"visar versa" of cause. I'm also from Australia
Come down under sometime.

Hi Ellen,
I disagree with the AA people...your life is obviously not in chaos because you consume "sugar"...theirs is/was. I met a gal who was in NA and had been clean from drugs for over 8 years. Human though, she slipped up and had a glass of wine after getting her MBA and the folks at NA (Narcotics Anonymous) degraded and shunned her - for slipping. Both groups adhere to total abstinence - and I say if it works for you, great. But one shoe does not fit everyone. Keep working towards your goal - look at all the positive changes you have already made and the wonderful example you are setting for many. Your fan, Julie

Ellen you are not in any trouble yet! Since you feel the way you do it will help you to stay away from the sugar. BUT that does not mean it will not happen again. Tell me how long will you make it without another glass of wine? It was to good to pass up on Valentine's Day so what will it be like at Easter? This is a BIGGER holiday. Just drink the bottle and then repent!!

In all seriousness I feel your pain!! I have been on a no sugar diet and it is not easy. For instance today... I go to my fridge starving, then to my cupboard and then to the freezer. What I found to eat was something I would of never tried to make without this no sugar diet. It was not bad but it had no sugar. I still feel good about my devotion but man am I hungry for a Snickers!!!

Good Luck and I hope you can make it past St. Patrick's Day without the wine. If you are tempted to drink that bottle, please drink another one for me. Let me know:

wwww.racingforlife.us You can find me here!!!

Okay- i am a recovering alcoholic. I only tell you that because when i was getting sober, there where (are) none of these "hiccups" that you speak of.lol. So i believe that you have to start over. If i walked into a meeting today and said oopsie, i had a half of bottle of wine, but i should still be able to say i have 15 years.you need to give me a break, it was valentines day. The would, well, not agree with me. So i am just sayin' i think it is a start over. Good luck and hang in there!

My client Nancy Wanderer has given up sugar because sugar feeds the bone cancer cells in her body, her partner pleads with friends to not send thes wicked good sweets. And in sure they way to tempting to have around there house. This kind makes it not taste so good to me. Ive also Asked for her story to be concered watch Hillery class also caring bridge.org. She is so special to me opened the way for us ladies she is my hpoe for the future/ Debby Bailey

Hi ellen

I am also trying to go sugar free. What was the brand name of vitamin water that you were drinking? These first few days are very difficult.I rarely get headaches but it seems like I have a dull headache constantly. I am sure it is my body adjusting to the shock of no sugar.

Hi Ellen, I just wanted to tell you that my mom is 91 years young. She will be 92 in september and is doing great. She still does all her cleaning in the house, cooks and also does outdoor gardening when the weather permits. She eats everything in moderation including sugar. I don't think anyone has to give up anything forever. She only takes some medication for her depression since my brother passed away but other that that she doesn't take any medications such as for blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. she just takes her vitamins.

Barbara

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

My mom made me homemade chocolate chip cookies on Valentines Day, and I thought, "Oh NO!! they smell so good! But, WHAT WOULD ELLEN DO??? I MUST NOT LET HER DOWN!!" LOL. True but no big deal...think of it this way...the people who are half/way interested in doing something so good for their bodies have another opportunity to sign up and do the NO SUGAR cleanse the SECOND ROUND with you! :)

Big Love,
Susie, DAY 16!!

I'm interested in following the sugar free diet and I'd love to know exactly what it involves--is it only refined sugar? Is honey OK? I can't seem to locate the "sweet but sugar free" button referenced on "Ellen's Life" page. Thanks and you're an inspiration!

I'm glad you slipped, because I did, too. I started a sugar cleanse the first of January, so I'm about 6 weeks into it. My husband didn't sign up for this, so I made him a banana cream pie for Valentine's Day. I ate a small piece and gave him a whopping big piece. Funny thing is that I didn't even enjoy it. It made my stomach churn. I was afraid that if I slipped, I would just keep sliding down the slope, but instead, I'm even more committed. If you think of succeeding 15 days out of 16 that sounds more positive. Keep it going.

You go on to Day 16 with one indescretion. I am going to Day 15 with 6 indescretions. The only time you go back to Day 1, is if you have one indecretion and use that as an opportunity to go crazy and have many indescretions in a row.

I work at StarBucks and our store just finished winning the Banana loaf competition. YES!! our store sold 207 slices and the closest competitor sold 198 slices. I did not buy any slices for myself!

Love you Ellen.

PS The video diary quality is bad, i could barely hear you in your Day 15 video. The last video i heard that was good quality was Day 8.

I hate buying new bra's to many just to keep you tuck in love the show thank you for being such a joy and macking me laugh evry day

Frankly, I'm glad that you were able to disclose this information because I have fallen, and on occasion, jumped-off of the wagons of things that I purposed to try to quit doing, or do; but 'quit' and 'stop' are tainted and very demanding words, it's tiring just thinking about them when referring to something that has been part of my daily life for a very long time.

Keep it up, Ellen, starting over is bullsh*t, because you have already 'done that and been there' and be proud of that and move on.

I love ya, Ellen!

We all hit hiccups if you will. Trials & tribulations everyday Ellen wheather it's our jobs, relationships, family, etc..... I am trying to quit smoking Yes it's hard been smoking for to to many yrs. now, being in a finacial rut isn't good time to be smoking so will save that money now to buy a car Yea it will take some time but I have a goal Wish you and me LUCK>>>>>

Ellen & Kevin!!!!!!!!!!

Its ok! We all hicup. For instance I took the wrong turn the other day. I went East instead of West young man!!! (Michael W. Smith Go west young man lyrics) Equally felt bad because even the song says to go west! LOL I knew the minute ...the second that I should have gone west but I went East and thought to myself.."Should I turn around?or keep going..where can I turn around...if I turn around I'll have to set at 2 lights...oh just keep going" So I kept going. The whole time I was going East I kept saying.. I should be going West...WEST DARN IT!! WEST!!! but I said to myself.. no it will be ok... you'll figure it out... maybe its the right choice.... well... it turned out to be wrong. I felt bad much the same way as you and Kevin feel bad but you pick yourself up...shake yourself off...learn from it(the hicup) and try try try again. You might say that was day 15 for me going east when I should have went west because the next day...well....2 days later I had to go the same way again and yesterday I went WEST! :) and it all worked out and I found my way again!(No pun intended!) Found myself..learned more about myself and its no big thing. As I found out. I apologized profusely to my boss and aksed if he ever made a wrong turn and had that should i then you do and then you are like.. oh shoot.. I shouldn't have. He laughed and said... Tonya its not big deal!!! So I said.. Alrighty!!! So see... its not a big deal. One day!!!

I don't even think this my opinion counts since I'm not on the sugar cleanse. But it kinda helps you even if I'm not in the sugar cleanse boat... we are both in the larger boat of messing up.. failing ourselves/others...but to me that is life and its important to learn about it and move on... don't dwell. Believe me ... I have to tell myself this all the time!!!! We are too hard on ourselves and those around us arne't as hard on us! Isn't that funny?! But I think its all good and I say its day 15! :)

Keep going! :)

You drank because you need sugar. Eat a cupcake!!
