Nineteen-year-old Shelby Dressel didn't make it to the Top 24 on "American Idol," but Ellen was still impressed and invited her to sing right here on the show. Before performing, she sat down to tell Ellen all about her experience on "Idol."

From the second I heard her sing Nora Jones "Turn Me On" she had my vote. I was disgusted that after an amazing performance of Boston's "More Than A Feeling" they picked 12 other girls to move on. Quite frankly, there were a handful of them that I disagreed with continuing on. After Tuesdays performances, I still was left wondering why Shelby did not move on. And I had NO IDEA who to vote for. With the help of my kids, we finally picked someone. But my 7-year-old daughter would rather I go online and replay Shelby's Ellen debut because in her words, "She is awesome." So thanks Ellen for being great and inviting her on your show. You are the best. And Shelby, continue on. Whether or not it's Idol next season... what you got is talent and beauty and this down-to-earth way about you. I can't wait to see a CD out there to buy. You still have my vote.

We both feel it was a blessing for Shelby to be on your show. I was really upset when that girl was cast off of Idol. Both my husband and I agreed that some of the girl singers were pretty horrible and this child sang like a a real star. We want to thank you for having her on your show,and maby she will be noticed by some of the big talent.

I loved Shelby's singing, and after watching the top 12 Idol girls sing last night, I am disgusted that Shelby did not make the top 12. She is easily better than most of them. I have to wonder if the appearance of her face caused her to be cast off, though she is beautiful.
I hope that Ellen will strive to get this girl a recording contract.

My husband and I were very upset that Shelby was casted off of Idol so soon. We feel that she is a very brave soul and unstoppable. Her singing was great and so everyone needs help when they start out we were very sorry that she wasn't givin a longer chance to make it. Thanx Ellen for bringing her on your show, it really shows how much you care about people. I watch your show every day and if I am not home I def. record it. I Love what you do for people. I hope that it is returned to you as well.
As a father of a daughter with 6th and 7th cranial nerve damage, Shelby is a hero to me! She gives me great hope for my daughters future and I will save and use her performance to show my daughter that anything is possible! Thank you Shelby for being you and thank you Ellen for allowing her to showcase her talent on your show!
Cute, cute girl. I enjoyed watching her sing. But, what I really would like to know is, "where is her shirt from that she was wearing on Ellen!!?!?" It is super cute.
Ellen, I love your show. God Bless you for helping so many people in so many ways. Thank you. You really know how to put on a show with lots of talented people. Again thank you for having Shelby on your show and having her demonstrate the talent and the courage to perform again but this time with your show which truely glows with glory and faith. I tried for one more child ,so I was already,a in at UCLA my doctor,started the invetro (test tube) program in his office !I would pray and pray!the chance of one was only. 25 % and ,triplets were a 5% so would u not believe with my 2 older in high school!!! I became PG with three 2 boys 1 girl! They were 2 months early,but weighed 4'5 4'7. And 4'10 big healthy babies!! I was so happy I think I am still smiling today !!!!!! Shelby is AMAZING!! She was my favorite from the first time I saw her on American Idol. She is an extremely inspiring woman and I can't wait to see what she does in her career!! You've got my vote!!

Omg Ellen!!!!! I haven't seen her on American Idol cause I never used to really watch it much but I will now since you're on there and if there's anybody else Like shelby on there! She had such an amazingly beautiful voice, good choice having her on to perform! Hope we get to hear more from her in the future!

The judges really called this one wrong. I feel she could have been the right female to win the title this year!!
Since you are having American Idol castoffs on your show, Please have Alex Nester on. She is very inspiring & we didn't get to see her performances on air.

Thank you Ellen for allowing Shelby to perform on your show!! When she was voted off AI, I was completely devastated. She is so beautiful and has such an amazing voice!! I honestly feel she is better than most of the top 12 girls. I hope to see her audition again next season or better yet, see her land a record deal!! =)
