Ellen Inspires Her Viewers to Live Healthier!

Ellen recently featured her personal chef, Roberto Martin, on the show to share his delicious vegan recipes, and she also created the Ellen's Life page to show everyone just how easy it is to maintain a healthy life. The response has been incredible!

So many people have been inspired by Ellen, Chef Roberto, and all of her other guests. Take a look below at a letter from a viewer. And don't forget to check out Ellen's Life page for great recipes, Ellen's favorite books, and more!

Casey wrote: "Hi Ellen! I just wanted to tell you how thankful I am to you for having your chef on the show. I love the recipes and just recently (because of you) became pescetarian. I'm working on going vegan. My life has changed so much. I have two boys, Jacob (4 years) and Landon (11 months), who are my whole world, and I have so much more energy to play with them. I'm healthier and happier, which makes my husband a lot happier too. Thank you for being my inspiration."

I am writing about my little sister she is a fabulous single Mom of 2 girls. Money is practically non exsistant. They saved for 2 years to go to Disney a trip of life time. Here is the real story they saved a dog from the shelter she runs all the time and has been in 3 homes because she is a runner. She got out by mistake (they are very careful with her)she was hit by a car. They took all there savings and had the surgery for the dog. Now there is no trip but the kids thought it was more important then a trip for them. They are very special kids and I wish maybe they could be rewarded for their thoughtfulness. Love you Love them we are in a suburb of Detroit not good up here very rough economy. Cindy

I am so happy that you have so many recipes posted on your site. My daughter is asthmatic and we just found out that she is extremely allergic to every meat and poultry out there (she's terrified that she'll have to use her epipen). When going vegan is so important its great to have the help!!

I love that you have so many links to healthier living. For the past year (a few months after the birth of my second son) I had to have my gall bladder out! I have found it really hard to eat the way I used to. I cannot eat processed foods, red meats, and some dairy. I also get so sick when I eat anything fried. I started buying my fruit and veggies from www.doortodoororganics.com and shopping more at Whole Foods too. I have always been health conscious, but, with two little boys, terrible upper GI problems the past 2 years and my hubbies health to ponder I always need more suggestions. These days I really wonder what is healthy to eat (chicken seems so not lately). Being a stay-at-home mom I am always looking for ways to save but, ways to cook good. It is sooo hard to stop cooking Southern like my mom and grandma have growing up. Research and time and I'll be on my way. I don't want my sons to suffer the way I have all my life actually!! Happy trails to eating!! ;0)

Hi Ellen,
You don't realize sometimes how life is going til its interupted with a health crisis.so I'll be on a low residue diet for awhile.Im waiting to see if I have to have some of my colon removed, but if you know of veggies I can eat raw right now I'd love to know what?My lifestyle will change and Im coming to grips with all this.

Hi Ellen. I love how much you are doing for the animals and the vegan community. You are really making this way of life mainstream. Thanks!

I hope you received the copy of the raw vegan cupcake e-book I sent you (http://rawdorable.blogspot.com/2010/03/introducing-my-raw-cupcake-e-book.html). I think you and Roberto would have a blast trying to make some of my creations in your kitchen at home or maybe even on the show.

My birthday is this Friday, April 30. I'd love it if you posted about the cupcakes on your blog. It would be the best birthday present ever (although it would be even better if you'd try one with John Mayer on the show; my baby daughter loves him, as you can see: http://rawdorable.blogspot.com/2010/04/haydens-day-in-her-own-words-sort-of.html).

Thanks again to you and Roberto. You're giving me even more reasons to tune in. Love your show!

Dear Ellen:
I have been a fan of yours for many years. I always watched your sit coms when they were on.

You are such a wonderful person and so funny and you make my day,

I have been trying to send you an email for a couple of months but cannot get them to go to you. Can you please help me. I would sure appreciate it very much. Take care and God Bless.

Thank you very much, Love Rose Marie

Hi Ellen,
After going through your website I knew I had to watch some of those aweful videos about factory farming in order to give up meat completly... I did that in November of 09 and have not eaten any kind of meat since... I am not vegan yet, but i dont consume any dairy products... so im considered a strict vegetarian.
It feels so good to be doing my part to live more compassionatly... and hopefully one day i`ll be able to proudly say im vegan.
Thanks for sharing your stories, views and also your chef with us... and if possible for people like me who are considering going vegan, can you please give us a list of everything vegan you use consume and wear?
thanks so much for being an inspiration to so many of us... i think you are a beautiful person and I would love to one day meet you personally.
Continue to spread the love - you are just awesome!

Hi Ellen,
Because of you, I finally got off the fence and became vegitarian! Thank you! It was your statement, about I love animals, why eat them...anyway, I love you taking the courage to share healthy lifestyles on your show. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Gloria

Hi Ellen!
My family and I have been vegan for a little over a year and vegetarian for a little over two years. I have a question for your chef. I am having a horrible time trying to come up with fun and nutritious foods for my kids. My oldest, Symone, is 6, and my youngest, Solstice, is 15 months. I could really use some advice on keeping there meals exciting and healthy.. So far peanut butter, honey and soy cheese sandwiches for my daughters lunches have been alright but getting old. I need fresh ideas.. oh yea and something quick! Thanks again and keep on dancing!!

Hi Ellen, I am a Canadian viewer (one of many) that loves your show and so happy we can now enter contests and be a part of your web page topics/conversations. I would like to recommend an amazing cookbook to your chef Roberto to try out. I know you will love it! It is called: Rebar- Modern Food Cookbook from Victoria, BC. I notice that he doesn't use much spice in his dishes that he did on your show, this book will change all that. Thank you for warming up our days with dance and laughter in our northern town.

Hi Ellen,

Great news that you are going for a sugar free diet. It is poisonious. I use rapadura, coconut sugar, maple syrup (organic) and stevia.
I follow the westonprice philosopy as I find with vegetarian I felt very tired. I find that nutriet dense foods (fish roe, liver (organic duck and chicken), bone broth (which I cook for three days) really fill me up. I only eat grass meat about three times per week. I eat a little fermented food with each meal - which I make myself ie fermented vegetables and kefir and have just made some butter from raw cream. Also drink raw milk but usually make kefir with it. Made some ricotta cheese the other day - yum and am going to make some ice cream as raw cream is in plentiful supply at present.
Great health and I thank you for embracing a healthier lifestyle.
Regards
Mia

I hope to one day be part of your audience too. I love how you care for all those around you who need help, it's a wonderful thing you do. I am Canadian and happy that you share you life with us. More power to you. You and Portia are a great couple. GOD BLESS

Hi Ellen! I have to thank you sooo much for sharing your Chef Roberto's recipes with us! I have been a vegetarian since I was 13 yrs. old. I always feel like I have to apologize to people for not eating meat (like at weddings and family gatherings, for instance). I often feel like I am being a nuisance...like they are thinking, 'Oh, Candace is coming...Now we have to have a "special" menu!' Do you and Portia ever feel that way?!! Just wondering! And do you also hate being asked, "You DON'T eat meat??!! Well what DO you eat??!!" and "What ever possessed you to become a vegetarian??!!" Like I am some kind of alien or something!!! Jeez!!!
You look AMAZING, by the way!! You are glowing inside and out! I am sooo happy for you both!
Love, Candace XOXO

Thank you so much for letting us Canadians be a part of your show! You are one of the rare, authentic people on tv. (although I am concerned about the "covergirl" image. "airbrushing" would not be considered "authentic" I'm thinking!) I too am vegan, and went off sugar about 1 1/2 years ago....being the biggest sugar fiend. And I survived. Really worth it! Good luck.
Now who would I talk to about tickets for a show next Sept./Oct. It will be our 30th wedding anniversary and your show would be a wonderful gift. Hope to see you then. jan.

That's good someone will look out for others sucess and health , Keep up the good work.

Hi Ellen,

We think you are Great!!!! My daughter Ashley and I watch you ALL the time!!!!! We Love you and your generosity. You are a Beautiful person inside and out. Thank you for making us laugh all the time. Say Hello to Portia, She is very lucky to have you in her life!
