Dear Ellen, Only God can truly reward you and not man ,many may write you pretending to be good themselves but if they ever find themselves in your position will never do anything to help others but they are selfish and self centered. Even in the christendom among men of God, it happens that many are self centered,if only many can be like you we will not have problems on earth.

Dear Ellen, We watched the telethon last night & it was absolutely AWESOME. My prayers are with the people of Haiti in this most difficult time. There is no doubt in my mind that they will come through this horrible NATURAL disaster. (not MAN-MADE) The "FAITH" of the Haitian people is so strong that it can be felt!!! It was a very humbling experience & presented with a genuine heartfelt compassion for fellow mankind. That's what seperates us from animals!! I felt so very Blessed to be able to watch "Hope for Haiti" with my grown children & especially the grandchildren. We have been apart since Hurricane Rita, then Gustav, then Ike. We've all been down a very long road & still have a way to go, but there's no doubt in my mind we will get there, because of our "FAITH!" I guess some people will never understand disasters, unless they actually been through one, two or three!!! And then again, maybe not!! You learn to appreciate LIFE even more, no matter waht you may or may not have in the process. Our beautiful country does have our own problems but I thank GOD every day that I am from the United States of America. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!! My heart goes out to each and every one of those beautiful children in Haiti & all over the world. They are truly 'God's Angels' I can't imagine ANYONE not understanding that. It's our duty to protect "OUR" children. The world's children. I won't even waste any precious time or energy on anything or anyone "NEGATIVE!!" Thank you & all the people that brought the world together last night. There is "HOPE for HAITI" with good-hearted and positive people like yourselves.PEACE&LOVE! Mary

To Sue and others who are so critical of Ellen's and other's generosity: how dare you. Ellen has been one of the most prominent celebrities who have been giving and asking for help in areas throughout the US, such as New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Haiti has been DEVASTATED. More than 70 000 people are dead, more than 250 000 people are injured, and more than a million are homeless. How dare you cricitize the generosity of anyone who is helping those in Haiti. Comments like yours fuels the rest of the world's poor opinion of American ignorance. Shame on you.

Wow, very sad to hear people in our country sounding so entitled. Yes our country needs a lot of help, but we have a country rich in so many ways, in soil, good water and the means to sustain ourselves if need be. The People of Haiti didn't ask for this to happen, this is Humanity, These people need us, and if they are upset because we don't seem to be acting fast enough, it's because they are devastated, terrified, sick, hurt ,and don't have the resources to handle whats happened on such a catastrophic level. I'm sure everyone in Haiti has lost a loved one or entire families and friends. THINK ABOUT THAT. i WOULD LOVE TO HELP ANSWER PHONES OR DONATE TIME TO HELPING! Please let me know if volunteers are needed for Telethon or efforts locally. Also FYI Sports Chalets are collecting slightly worn shoes until Jan 30th to send to Haiti. To Sue, I could argue with you til my face turned blue as to why we should help the people of Haiti, but I won't because I have a feeling it won't change your mind or soften your heart at all. I'm married to someone who is Haitian. He lost some loved ones in the earthquake. It's a devastation beyond description. We've given what we can and have friends and neighbors doing the same. His cousin is a Dr. who is volunteering her time and services to help these people.
Because of the devastation, we may be adding a member to our family. We've been told a 6-year old niece no longer has family. So we've volunteered to love her and adopt her as one of our own. We don't have any extra money, we don't even have a car big enough to fit her, our two other children and the one on the way. But we have enough love to go around. We have faith that things will work out. If it's meant to be it will be. She will get food, clothing, shelter, schooling and most importantly love. We wish we had more room and more to give so we could help more...
Love you Ellen and George and all the other famous people who are lending a name in hopes of raising money. I love you all who are anonymous, giving what you quietly out of the goodness of your hearts as well. God Bless everyone, even you Sue...

I have given money to Haiti through my cell phone provider. However, Sue makes a good point about our own country. Where were you when Detroit, Michigan went down the tubes? Has anyone read the Times magazine article about Detroit? And then there is Africa. This goes on and on....who's more deserving?

THIS COUNTRY IS A MESS, PEOPLE OUT OF WORK, PEOPLE LOOSING THERE HOMES, CHILDREN HUNGRY, ABUSE, NEGLECT, YOU NAME IT.....I FEEL VERY BAD ABOUT HAITI, ESPECIALLY THE CHILDREN...I CAN'T STAND THE ATTITUDE OF THE PEOPLE IN HAITI, DEMANDING FOOD, WATER AND OUR HELP IMMEDIATELY. WE ARE HELPING AND THEY DON'T THINK IT IS FAST ENOUGH...PLEASE. THEY HAD NOTHING BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. THEY SHOULD BE MORE GREATFULL AND APPRECIATIVE. NOT SURE WHY WE CAN'T IMPROVE OUR OWN PROBLEMS AND GET 100 MILLION DONATED TO OUR OWN COUNTRY. LOOK AT NEW ORLEANS, STILL A MESS AND THEY DIDN'T GET THE HELP WE ARE GIVING HAITI.....STEP BACK AND RE-THINK ALL THIS HYPE....I THINK IT IS POLITICAL BS....LOOK AT ME, I AM GIVING AND HELPING.....HELLO......YOUR OWN COUNTRY NEEDS HELP!!

My husband and I work in a call center here in Canada that is donating time to taking calls for the Telethon. We have both volunteered our Friday night to help out, I am even returning from my maternity leave to do so. Every time I see footage from Haiti on the news it breaks my heart and I wish I could do more. I am so glad this opportunity came up so that I can.

Also,I see on todays show, you are going to have CNN's Anderson Cooper on your Live from Haiti,(taped on Thursday night in the studio,to be shown on Friday.)

Ellen,I do have a question for you to ask Anderson,it's about the living quarters for the jouralists and their staff and crew from around the world on reporting about the earthquake in Haiti. Are they living tents, abandon buildings,satellite trucks and also what about their food and water supplies?
