Video of the Day: Ellen Responds to Simon Cowell's 'Idol' Announcement RT @TheEllenShow
Tonight is the premiere of "American Idol," and everybody is talking about Simon Cowell's surprise announcement that this will be his last season. Today Ellen responded to the news, then shared some clips from tonight's episode. She also took a look at what's hot in entertainment right now -- and how she can change her show to fit! Dear Ellen,
I love your show; you are such an inspiration for me! I have been out of work for a year now. Life is so much better since I have started watching your show. You bring so much joy to people. You are one of a kind. I am currently a full time student trying to get a degree medical field. Looking towards medical transcriptionist, I feel so useless at times because I have always worked and provided for my children. However, being off has really made me aware of your show more. I am hooked I have to have my daily dose of Ellen. You are an angel from heaven you bring some much joy into peoples life. I wish I could take my children to see the ocean, and go on a vacation. My daughter Mariah made me a pictures of the ocean she even drew a picture of the titanic, Mariah tries her best to cheer me up! Somehow, I think I have let them down. Mariah is nine, Michael is 13, and James is 19. They are my life with my kids and your show every day it makes it easier to get though the day. As I go to school I say a pray for my kids as I am driving down the road, pray that I do not break down, my car is old but gets me from point A to point B. it has about a 150,000 miles but seems to get me around. I am very strong willed person I tell my children things will get better! With a lot of luck and a lot of Ellen, we will make it though the hard times. I do some much good for others; I have taken care of people all my life. I worked as a CNA, for years. I also care for a 2 year old whom I love so much, she calls me mo mo, and she is such a joy. This is my boys, Mariah, and baby girl her name is Jaymien Marie. My kids are great, without them and the Ellen show I would be lost. I shed a tear every time you give to so many people in need you are the best we all love you here. I love that you are a judge a double dose of Ellen, we all watch idol too! Lots of love for you Ellen, you are the best!

First let me say...my husband and I LOVE the show and love YOU...we think you are fantastically funny and so full of compassion to those around...in general just a genuine person! I'm writing to ask for help. I know it's a long shot and in today's economy when so many are struggling, including our own family, this request surely isn't a necessity but if I don't ask I'll never know. We adopted our daughter from China in 2007 along with 8 other families in our travel group. International adoption has grown so much over the last few years and it has certainly been a blessing to our lives. Our daughter is the best gift we could have ever received. Our 9 families truly bonded on our trip to receive our children. However, we live all over the US...from CA to NY and everywhere in between. We have tried to have annual reunions so that our kids can see each other but not everyone as been able to attend. Our goal is for everyone to meet in Orlando during the summer that our girls turn 5, which is 2011. I was hoping there was something you could do to help all of us have a reunion at Disney. For each of us, we believe that keeping those ties to each other for the girls sakes will benefit them as they grow up and understand where they came from and their own beginnings. These girls were in the same orphange together and were all born within 3 weeks of each other....even today at 3-1/2 years old they refer to each other as "China Sisters". We try to keep these relationships alive for them. Again, I know this is a huge request and maybe a longshot but I would rather ask and be told "no" then to not ask at all. I work out everyday at my company's gym and I schedule myself for 10 am because you so get me through it! Without you, I would have no incentive to push that 2 miles on the elliptical or do 5 sets of each nautilis machine.

Ellen I cannot catch up and see your show everyday which I will love to, because of my work schedules. But let me tell you is a great show, entertaining, funny, open and one that makes people feel happy.
I have been thinking since you are so popular, so fair and helpful, if there is anything you can say or do to help single women families like mine who are working two jobs in order to pay bills and support a family to be able to qualify for financial aid. For example, my son is going to county colleger, (thank God because is cheaper than private colleges), because I have 2 incomes that believe they are not a wealthy amount, he does not qualify for FAFSA, what happens is they take into consideration only the gross income, but that is not what I take home. And they do not take into consideration expenses. That is terrible, because if I am applying for a loan, no matter how much money I am trying to borrow, they request proof of income and expenses, but to get help for school only the gross income is what is taken into consideration. I am sure there are many families who are going throught this situation at the time. My only choice has been to put tuition and books on my credit card, but what is going to happen when he transfers to a 4 yr college? Sorry to put this into your perspective but sometimes we need someone like you, known, popular, humanitarian and fun to help with issues like this.
