Ellen, All I can Say is that I am a 48 year old woman that as been married for over 30 years. My husband and I have been enemployed since 2/2009 because of layoffs. I have 2 children and 1 grandchild that is 3 years old. Before my layoff I have been able to buy my children and grandhild chrismas presents, but this year I have been feeling so depressed that I cant make it happend.
Please pray thay my husband and I get jobs soon. I know it its almost inpossible before christmas, but, betwwen you and you guess praying for my family hopfully thing will will look better
Hello all.I am the wife of 1 and the mother of another sears employees.I have been told horror stories and have seen much discontent from them. They put up with it because they have to. We all know how bad the economy is right now and they consider themselves lucky to have thier jobs. They work at a repair center.Sears really looked good and must have gained alot of publicity for what they did on the show Monday. What people didn't see is that Wednesday, 1 day after their chritmas party,2 days after your show and 9 days before christmas, numerous employees were told that they would be laid off or have their hours cut down and the whole place would be shut down one day a week from now on.They also did not get a bonus because of poor production numbers (which is based on teams not individually which makes it harder to get and it has been rumored that if they don't get it, it goes to the managers) and no pay raise because of the economy and the bad financial spot sears was in.So we are faced with a more difficult situation along with many more I believe. My husband has given of himself (with no tax write off) and people know they are always welcome at our home for meals or if they are in need. It's just the way we are. I am in no way holding the show responsible for I have seen Ellen give and give.We all have been decieved.I just think that its horrible as to what some of these companies will do and try to get away with that sometimes the public doesn't see and only employees can.Bless you all.
I watch your show everyday, You are one of three people that makes my day. I have tried so hard not to be depressed. I lost my Mom/best friend and miss her all the time. I don't mean to cry as I am a adult. I go to school/college every day and have been for over a year now. I can't efford a loaf of bread but I go to school and have to pay for it. My car brakes down and have to get another car and can't efford to. Christmas is here now and I can't efford to get anyone anything for Christmas. I feel bad and all I do is cry some more. I receive SSI and that pays my rent. My friend and I of 11 years go to bed everyday and get up with backacks. We are so much in need of a bed/mattress so we don't have to sleep on the floor. It seems like the more I try the worse it gets. I'm home sick today from school. I needed to get out of that bed for a little while to help my back/legs so I got online to talk with you. Like I said you help me get through the day everyday. I think you for that. I need to let you go for now to wash my face. I wish you and your wife A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. God Bless. Later.
Dear Ellen
First off I would like to wish all of you a merry christmas and may all good things come to all of you.
I been trying to contact you with no luck since Last week and i'm giving it one more shot as your my last hope .
MY STORY
I was married untill my husband left me for someone younger and kicked me out of our home .
I struggled for mnths trying to find a home again for me and my children .
He took everything from me even my car he would not help me get back on my feet at all .
I have no family my mother passed away of cancer in 95 she was all I had so I could not ask for help from anyone had to do it on my own and stay strong for my kids.
Well this July I had no choice but to let give my husband the children as I could not give them what they needed and he could.
I moved up north and tryed to get my life in order and I was doing good untill I lost my job and now i'm losing my home again and I have nobody to turn to i'm all alone .
I want to go home so bad and see my children But cant cause I have no transportation or any money.
It does not cost alot to get me home only 300 return But its 300 I dont have.
I know my chances of you answering me is slim as I am a canadian resident but i'm holding on to the little bit of hope that you will help me get home for christmas so I can be with my kids its been 6 mnths since I seen them and my heart aches for them .
I know I failed once again and going home empty handed with out any gifts is gonna be hard but as long as I am with them thats all that should matter.
My daughters birthday is on the december 19th I really want to go home Please help me Ellen I dont think I can make it through these holidays without them especially right now i'm so scared and afraid i'm gonna be homeless in less then 1 week .
I am trying my hardest to get a job but the holidays are the worst time to find employment but I wont give up I have to stay strong for my kids and if you could please help me be with my children for christmas I will do anything to be with them this year .
Yours truley
Bobbie -gayle
Hi Ellen,
I am writing you because i missed the show that had the winners for the 8th day, is there a list of the winners that you will be posting for us that may have missed the moments the names were aired? Thank you for your time. I hope you have a Wonderful Christmas!!
Thankyou,
Debbie
Where is the list of winners, or does the drawing contact by email? Ohhh with her hands held out for a poverty level group that could use Ellens Giveaway. In the mean time, if you can buy a hat it truely helps people make ends meet. God Bless www.hatsbyhand.com
Dear Ellen, These are very dificult times for lots of people. I wish I can do something to change that. I'm one of those people that lose her job on May this year. My husband doesn't even make enough to pay our mortgage. He is doing all kinds of things to make extra money to pay some of our bills but still not enough. I got certify as a Teacher during the summer time but It was too late to find a full time job so I'm working as a sub teacher making $85 per day.I spoke with my kids a couple of days ago and explain to them that they might be only one present for them for Christmas and also it wont be whay they want.I don't know how I will fullfill this promise because I don't have any money to buy presents, pay the mortgage, electricity, water, home owner association or anything else. I know there some many people on my situation and is sad that this wonderfull country has gotten to this point because of the greed of many that have everything they need and more.I whish we all have a better year next year and been able to provide for our families what they need. I can help to crie every time I see your show and whatch the wonderfull things you are doing for people in need and I feel good for them because they deserve and they need help a fresh star. I hope and pray to God a better future for all of them, for us and a Merry Christmas for you.
Sincerely,
Marjorie
Hi Ellen and staff.. I have to say I have entered for the last two years and watch your show everyday, mostly to see you dance. Like you I have back problems but mine have put me out of work forever. I live in the great beautiful state of Michigan , one that has been extremely hit hard by recession and loss of jobs. Not only cant I work but my husband lost his job for almost 6 mths this past spring and we are just recouping all that we lost during that time . Michigan is full of people without jobs and no hope. Hope is all I have right now to get through these rough times. God Bless you for all you do for alot of people who are so needy this year. I love you and always will... my older girls watch your show when they can, 19 (2nd yr in college) and 14 on January 6th, my son (5) was just in the hospital on Halloween with H1 N1 and had bacteria pnemonia and instead of trick or treating, he was fighting to stay alive. He thankfully recovered after 10 days of medical care and a thousand prayers. His Christmas will be so special for all of us this year and WE are all so blessed to have him still in our family ..I am sure I will be crying again when he runs to the tree to see his stuff from Santa, all the more special considering how close we were to losing him just a month ago. Thanks again for making all of remember the real reason for the season and I am sure your heart is busting out of you with happiness for all you have done... :) Merry Christmas and May this New Year see all the viewers who posted here have all their wishes come true ,for peace and health and prosperity...
