Snorky Needs a Home!

Tia brought one dog, Snorky, who is ready for adoption. Snorky is 9 years old and weighs 75 pounds. Tia says he is a regular couch potato that loves kids, but isn't very good with other dogs. She knows this because she's had him for 6 years. Ellen immediately fell in love with Snorky and wants to help find him a home. If you're interested, please go here.

I just wanted to let you know that i have just started watching your show about 2 weeks ago, and i just love it. I know your motto is to live and laugh every day, and i didn't get it untill i watched your show. I had a really bad day today, and when i started to watch your show, i was laughing. So, i wanted to say thank you for what you are doing because if all i need to remember is to watch your show after a bad day, that makes life so much better. Thank You

I hope you and yours had a great Christmas !! I had the bestest Christmas of anyone . My daughter , Rhonda , had been in ICU for almost a week and not only did she get to come home she came home well. Rhonda had swollen from a size 4 to at least a 16 if not bigger. She is a diabectic and had a port in her chest so she could get IV's and the port had closed up and was full of blood clots and it was taken out . Things started getting better then they stoped .The Dr. decided to go back in and when he did he found a covering on the place where the port had been.He blew it off and things started working and by that night she was almost down to normal. Now that's a good gift .

I would love this dog. Our dog just died last week and I have a very sad little 7 year old and husband. I miss my walking partner. But I live in Canada so have no way to take him. I hope he finds a good home for Xmas. Thanks Ellen for trying to help him. Dogs are the best.

Ellen

I was watching today and what you did for Maria and her family was amazing. You are truely a giver and someone who cares about others. Thank you for being you. Lynn

Dear Ellen,

I love your show and watch it every day without fail, although I sometimes have to tivo it. Nevertheless, I manage to see every show.

I am having a problem with your website, however. For some reason (it might just be my computer), only 3/4 of your webpage can be viewed - the final 1/4 is blank and all print is cut off in mid-sentence. Consequently, I have a great deal of difficulty maneuvering around your site. If anyone has any insight into this problem, I would be grateful for any suggestions.

I have been searching for a place to enter for a chance to win that wonderful book "Rover". Possibly that bit of information is lost in the 1/4 page that I cannot see?

I hope I don't sound like I'm whining. I just don't want to miss out on any little tidbit regarding your show.

Thanks you so much for the excellent daily entertainment.

Best wishes to you and Portia for the Holidays,

Nancy Hellings

Hi Ellen, I watched your show when you had Snorky and Tia on the show. I have watched her show on Animal Planet, and just love it. I also watch Animal Cops or anything that has to do with them. I love animals especially dogs, and would love to work with them more, but the job that I have makes it difficult for me. Also I have 3 dogs of my own and taking care of them takes up most of my time. I apprecriate all that you do for animals and for families that are less fortunate. Someday I plan on working for a shelter and until that day I will still take care of mine and still watch my programs. Thank you for your time, Tracy

I would love to bring this amazing dog into my home, but I have 7 animals now. 4 cats (casey, kahne, cali, Niko) and 3 dogs (lexus, daisy, roscoe) That all have been saved from shelters and abuse. I have a pit her name is daisy. To all people that are frightened by a pit, don't be they are loving dogs. Daisy loves to curl up with our cat Niko and take naps. She also loves to flea bite our cat casey. Someone please take this amazing dog and make him apart of your family for life.

Ellen I love your show, for sure this is the most generous show! But I want to tell the person who may be one of your fans SHAME ON YOU for getting into my car and STEALING my copy of O magazine! You know who you are and karma will catch up to you. I hope your not the one who wins all the 12 days of giveaway. You don't deserve it.

My boyfriends family has had a pitbull for 8 years, and he was the sweetest dog I have ever met. His name was Mocha and he was Bens childhood friend. (Bens my boyfriend) They always got in trouble together as does a boy and his dog. His mother recently lost the house, and we now are renting a home. We had to put him down because nobody would allow us to have him in their homes which we were trying to rent. We called every shelter here in the Spokane area, and they all told us the same thing. If he growls or lets out a bark when they take him in they will instantly put him down. So, unfortunately we had to take him to the vet and put him down. Atleast he had his family there with him in his last moments. It was one of the hardest things I have ever been through, and to watch Ben go through that made it even worse, he wasn't only losing his dog, he was losing one of his best friends. I love animals and wish people would see that all of them are so sweet and deserve the best in life. It's a shame that some people have made these animals seem so vicious when all they need is some love and care.

ELLEN, I WANTED TO TELL YOU THE DAY YOU HAD ADAM LAMBERT ON YOUR SHOW, I FEEL HE WAS BEING VERY HONEST IN HIS COMMENTS AND APOLOGY. I ALSO ENJOYED THE SEGMET ON THE PITBULLS. IT IS A BREED I HAVE BEEN UNSURE OF BUT IN WATCHING PITBULLS AND PAROLEES AND THEN YOU HAVING THEM ON YOUR SHOW I BELIEVE THEY ARE A GREAT ANIMAL. THAT DOG LOOKED AT YOU WITH SUCH LOVE. ELLEN I JUST TOO WANT TO SAY I THINK YOU ARE GREAT....!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEARS TO YOU AND YOUR STAFF... HEY TONY YOU CAN BE MY D.J. ANYTIME.....

You recieved an email from Mellisa on Dec. 6th about her dog not getting the treatment she needed
because she did not have the money. My daughter just had the same problem with her dog. The vet who she has used for 25 years told her he could not treat her dog until she gave him $1000.00 for blood tests etc. Then it turned out he needed surgery and would cost her another $1000.00. She took out a pay day loan for the first money but could not get any more money and he told her she could pay it off at $250.00 per month until it was payed off. She is a special education teacher who is a single parent of two children and lives day to day and does not have any extra money as teachers do not make enough money.
Her dog is home at this time but the vet said he does not know if he will make it. She could not find anyone that would teach her dog for less money. Her dog is 5 years old and her constant companions. Why is there no place you can take your animal when you do not have the money to treat them?

Tia and the work she does with Villa Lobos is so utterly amazing. To rehab felons by working with the animals just adds to how important this work is. I was disappointed that Animal Planet didn't pick this show up to be in their regular line up because it's an awesome show and I'll miss it. Any support for her cause I know is appreciated! Thanks Ellen for bringing light to this!

I'm in love with Snorkey!!! I have had 3 pit bulls and raised them around my children, they were very protective. I would love to have another pit..I have a huge yard, nice big dog home and long gated dog run. Any dog would be pampered. I cannot get to the pit bull haven as I am handicapped and unable to drive or go far distances. Thanks for letting the general public know that Pit Bulls can be friends

yeah ellen for having the courage to show that pit bulls are loveable and wonderful dogs. and thanks for donating the 10K of dog food to the rescue.
your connections to HSUS are upsetting to me as their cause is to kill every pit bull in the country, even 4-6 week old pups, no animal owership, for all of us to become vegans and to outlaw animal ag.
i hope you reconsider your connections with HSUS and start promoting local rescues that have no affiliation to HSUS. rescues that acutally do the rescues unlike the HSUS who do NOT support any rescue and give as little as 4-6% of their millions of dollars to the cause.
i hope you educate yourself and realize what the true intentions of the HSUS really are. i understand that you feel everyone has a choice and HSUS is pushing animal rights down our throats. how about animal welfare instead?

How can a Vet just stand there while a dog is having a seizure and demand that I fill out the credit card application before he will treat my dog? Last Wednesday my dog of 11 years was at home and started foaming at the mouth and just look completely out of it. I immediately took him to my vet but they where closing and did not have any other night staff. While they where giving me directions to the emergency vet he had a bad seizure in my arms. My vet gave him a shot of Valium and we headed across town to the ER. When I got there I explained that I was on disability and ask if I could post date a check. They said no and told me to make phone calls if I needed. Keep in mind my dog is getting no treatment at this time. He is having small seizures and drooling profusely. While I am crying uncontrollably they ask me to fill out a credit card application. I do and get approved for $500.00. They estimate for one night is $1000.00 just for blood work, charcoal, IV solutions and monitoring. So now I have to pick and choose what treatments to do. I get blood work, IV fluid bolus, and one dose of charcoal in case he ate something. Then we are thrown out with another dose of charcoal due to my lack of funds. At about 1am the seizures are getting bad so I call the ER and they advise me that I should have left him, I state that I can not do this unless they take a post dated check, they advise it against policy and hang up. OK now what. I am not a loser. I pay my bills, I raised three great kids, I own my home, I am just having a really hard time like many Americans. I am actually a cancer nurse, who was in car accident, had spinal surgery and I have been living on disability since January. Back to Romeo, I try the other ER in town and they will take a post dated check and they offer other credit cards. So we head there. He is having seizures so they give him a dose of Valium and advise me to leave him with an estimate of about $1000.00 for the night and that in the morning he needs a neuro doc and a CT scan, another $1000.00. It is 3am. How much night is left. I explain that I am a RN and that if they will give me the Valium I will give it to him so we can make it through night. by 10:30am I am out of valium, I have called through the phone book and no one can help us unless I pay for all these test. He is not in pain and I feel in my heart that I have to try something. Romeo has been with me through many challenges. He loves me and I love him. I have never felt so helpless in my life. Sitting on the floor, holding my dog and begging God for help. Then the phone rings and it is Rascal Unit a travel clinic I had called about a week ago looking for low cost neuter programs for a stray cat we found out in the cold and brought home. I explain my story and she gets their MD on the phone. She is angel and tells me to bring him. By now, he is walking again, eating and drinking again, and although I am aware this is probably a temporary thing, she tells me she is not going to give up on him. She is limited to what tests she can do, but she does have the meds I need. Steroids and antibiotics. He needs additional testing and I don't know how I am going to get it done. I am praying for a miracle. I know I am not the only person to face this horrible situation. Everyone is telling me to just put him down, but how do I do that when he is not in pain and just wants to sit next to me and be loved. I will do the right thing if I need to, but I wish there was some place that would help us. Money, why does it always seem that when you need it most, life throws you more than your check book can handle. I just don't know what to do. Does anyone know of any organizations that can help us. please email us at narnkelly@aol.com Sorry if this is a little scattered brained but we have been up for days.

I love that you are showing people that pit bulls are not bad or evil it's the people that own them and do not treat them properly. I recently spent an entire day rescuing a pit bull and believe me it was not easy. The problem I was running into was that where I live in ohio they are pretty much illegal to own unless you have papers for them and insurance, Well we had to find some who would take him in and get the insurance and by some kind of miracle we did. So this beautiful one year old beautiful pit bull went from living on the streets to finding a home where he is treated like family. I hope some day people realize that these animals are not pieces of meat that can be disregarded.

Ellen, my family fell in love with Snorky, pure and simple. We have talked about getting a rescue dog, but having 4 children made us nervous about adopting 'blindly'. After watching Snorky, we have no doubt that he is the dog for us. His attention to Ellen, and only Ellen, was amazing. The noise of the crowd, the staff and camera crew walking around, nothing seemed to bother him in the least nor make him nervous. We do have one problem, though. My husband is home with a disability causing a limited income and I am a stay-at-home mom. This makes it impossible to afford the adoption fees and shipping, as we live in Ohio. We have a huge yard for him to play in with the kids and all the love and kindness he would need to live out the rest of his days. He can even take his pick of beds to sleep on! We have the means to care for him in every other financial way, just not the upfront fees needed. We would love to give Snorky the home and love he so deserves.

I'm kinda late with this comment.....but you really upset me with your interview with Adam Lambert......First of all I am very open minded on a lot of areas...I'm a straight female with 3 children 1 daughter age 27 and twin boys 22...My children are older and I have always talked openly with them about most everything....We did watch the American Music Awards and we were waiting to see Adam lambert come out and perform because we have watch American Idol since the 1st season....WELL I SAT ON MY COUCH IN TOTAL DISGUSSED ABOUT HIS PERFORMANCE...My adult children sitting next to me in AAAAWWWW.....you said if you watch T.V. and other shows have sexual content in them it shouldnt bother you about the performance....WELL IT'S MY CHOICE TO PUT ON HBO AND MY CHOICE KNOWING THERE MAYBE A SEXUAL SCENE IN A MOVIE TO WATCH IT ...BUT ON A TELEVISION NETWORK LIVE I DONT APPRECIATE SOMEONE SHOVING THERE SEXUALITY DOWN MY THROAT....I dont care what his perference is....It was tastless, classless and I hope ABC, NBC and CBS take a stand on this.....Im so tired of our country bending for everyone that feels they are being discrimiated against....I do however feel that no matter what sex you are you should be able to marry in every state in the United States...Being Gay or Straight does not determine who we are as people....But please dont shove it down my throat...Put that performance in his music video on HBO and let me make the choice to watch it....I wouldnt....After his performance I hate to say but he has totally upset me...I would never listen to his music watch him on T.V. or buy anything he is selling.....And I'm not the only one feeling this way.....

Totally Upset
