Hi Ellen;
My name is Lizette from Raleigh, NC. This is my first time writing. I watch your show often and always see all the nice things you do for folks. I have a friend that never complains and has had a hard time after getting laid off late last year. He is always available to volunteer his time to help other families in his community.
Although his wife is working at a day care center, she doesn't make enough to pay the mortgage let along pay for his child's college. They also have another two young girls and with three kids I just don't know what he is going to do for the holidays.
I'm hoping that you read this letter and open your heart to helping one more family this holiday season.
Thank you in advance for your consideration. Wishing you strength, health and love for this holiday season.
Lizette

Hi Ellen,

Happy Holidays to you and your family. I know I have wrtten to you several times. I sat down yesterday and read all the entries that people have written you. Eveyone seems sadder than the other.I know you have helped so many peple. When I watch on T.V. what you do and see the people you have helped not only do they cry I cry right along with them. I know only to well. I have mentioned to you that this Christmas will be the aniversary of losing my 27 year old son. I have been out of work for some time now. It is so very hard when the electric company comes to your house from FPL co. telling you they are shutting off your electric off and my water is connected with that.( not to mention embarrassed) I could deal with no lights, but the water is a different story. I did not mention to you last time but you hear enough sad stories. We took in at the time a 25 young boy who has been legally blind since birth. He has been with us for 3 years now. He was dropped off at our front door too years ago with the clothes on his back. He never complains he is just happen that it was my house hewas dropped off at. For 23 years of his life has been a nightmare. His mother was in jail have no idea where she is now and his real father has been out of his life since he was two.
We have been doing our best as far as making his life a little happier and he never complains. He knows what my family is going through with the lost of Joey, This Christmas is really going to be hard. He dosen't even complain as long as he finally has a family.
Enjoy your Holidays Ellen, I know you have so many people that needs help more than me,but I just wanted to share my story with you.
Sincerely, (again) Thank You for listening,
Debie DeMatthews

First... Happy holidays to you and Portia (Mandy).

Second..., Thank you for making my life worth living.

I know many people have problems and children to tend to also. Our loss is small compared to so many others...We have lost our dream home, we worked our whole life to get and ALL our retirement and in debt of over $30,000 living on credit cards. We only have Social Security and will never, in our life time ever be out of extreme debt again. This causes great depression for me,

I have been and am many times so depressed I just do not want to go on. I have been watching your show. If I had not been watching you I would be dead right now.

I loved your first show and I love your stand-up, especially because they are all clean good humor, you and Bill Cosby!!! But because you make me laugh for an hour a day, I try to keep a smile on my face.

Because of your kind heart helping so many deserving people you have shown me the way... I have donated my time to help others. We don't have money, but we do have time.

Please keep up the wonderful work.
Maybe one of your give away days could be at a family shelter, to help special needs to get them off the streets for a few days??? I don't know, but your on the ball, you'll come up with something worth while...maybe on the 13th day of give aways... toys for tots...

Love you. keep doing what your doing... It is right and Wonderful

Hi Ellen! i never thought I would EVER become a fan of any talk show. I have always kept myself busy raising my 2 amazing but still goofy kids. Always working 2 jobs to feed & cloth them, you know how it is, not really any different than most American now a days. But, 2 years ago, when I was 36, I woke up the morning of Aug. 29 2007, I was having a stroke. First I though it most be just a TIA (mini stroke) because I had already had 2 of them. But 1 hour had past, by 2 kids realized that they should no longer listen to mom advise and call (!!. I will quot my 13 year old son he said " f#%* it mom, I wont stand here & watch you die!!! He saved my life that day. I now live on SSDI at the age of now 39. I am so embarrass, but the blessing in this story I found out that I have a blood disorder that is called factor 5 lienden, inheared from my parents. So I tested both my kids... I was so scared, I did not want to learn that either of my kids would have this dangerous disorder. The resutl are in, first my daughter Nicole was neg., GREAT!!! Then, they read my son Codys & it is positive. I soul search day after day, finally realizing my stoke was a good thing. My son can be treated to prevent this ugly thing to happen to him. I have great kids. They have kept me honest through the years. They are very understanding while I have to wait to reseive my retirement money, Lets just say we all work as a team to try to make ends meet. This will be the 3 Christmas that my kids do not get gift. I thought at first that I was failing as a good mother... they explained to me how they looked at me living after my stoke was a life long gift. So please, If you can give my Daughter Nicole and my son Cody a shot out & tell them how wonderful they are to me on your show... that would be so Beautiful to me. My daughter got me into watching your show, because I was always house bound, we watch Ellen as a Mommy daughter moment. Thank Ellen & your team! You are all a part of our found memory's. Sorry about my poor grammar. I have a hard time talking, spelling, thinking, etc. I am sure you get to point.
( you are a savvy women ) Happy Holidays and thanks a bunch!
A million hugs with one big kiss!
Cindy from Fresno CA.

Dear Ellen,

My name is Dalia from Calgary, Canada. My husband left me and my two kids in august, and my life was a big mess. I got very depressed, I did not sleep for a month, but I had to be up every day, to go to work and take care of my beautiful and wonderful two boys. I work from 6 am until 3 pm, so, not too much time to watch TV. I had to pack a big house all by my self and move in less then one month. But in the end I got very sick and I had to miss work. Because of that, one morning I start watching your show. I was so happy, you made me happy, Ellen. Since then, I tape every show every single day, and at night after I put my kids to bed, I am watching your show and I can say that you lift up my spirit with your wonderful shows.
I just wanted to share this story of my last few month and to thank you so so so much for making me laugh again. You are the best and I love so so so much your show.

Thank you my dear Ellen and I wish you and your lovely wife the best this holidays.

Merry X mas, and love you.
