I hope you can find it in your heart with such short notice to help one more family. My daughter is a single mom of 3 kids. Struggling every day with her own health taking care of 2 special needs kids and her father who has cancer ms and dementia. Times fell so hard she had to move in with us. Its heart breaking to watch my daughter and not being able to help her the way i want too. We cant even go out as a family not only because we dont have a car big enough but we dont have a reliable one. Ellen she is still holding hope that she will be blessed with help for Christmas.Her oldest made a christmas list and at least 3 of the items were directed towards mommy and pop pops health getting better. And that his daddy would come around. They are not greedy kids but i do want to see three little smiles christmas morning. I only hope that you can help us i have run out of options. Every where i go says its too late to ask that we should have asked in May but in May we didnt need the help. Ellen, I'm not even sure where to start. I'm a single mom with four kids and having a very rough year. I was laid off of work, and today the house we are renting was suppose to be sold at auction at 1pm on the county court house stairs today. The landlord didn't tell us and we found a note taped to our front door. I asked him for my deposit back so we could move, but he will not return it. My kids are everything to me. Finances this year is me having garage sales to make the rent. My kids are sometimes embarressed that we have to do that, but they always pitch in and help with it. They know. My kids are 17, 16, 11 and 5. My 16yr and 11yr old are on honor roll in school and my daughter plays soccer (they won the nevada state championship this year), plays basketball and runs track and during the summer she works and she is a tremendous help for me with my boys and helping around the house. I am selling my car to hopefully get enough money to pay a deposit and 1st months rent on a new place before christmas. I talked to my oldest girls and they know that there is no way to have presents this year, but my daughter said that was ok, as long as we had lights up on the house, but I can't put lights up till we have a house. Well, we found a nice house, but now we are trying to come up with a deposit, so hopefully someone will see my truck on craigslist for 800.00 and buy it so we can start the process of moving. My 11 yr old son says "mom, I can just picture us living in that house", he is so sweet. My 5 yr old, well, he is 5 and just wants Toy Story Buzz and Woody toys. I told him Santa would check. A friend had a toy drive and offered toys to my boys, I took only one a piece and nerf gun for my 5yr old and yatzee game for my 11yr old, she told me to take more, but I told her there were kids that needed them more than us. I know I'm wrong there, cause we have no money for anything this year. I can't believe how terrible I feel that I am in this mess. I love my children and want the best christmas possible for them. If that is just them and me christmas morning, then thats what it will have to be. Ellen, I know you gave a ton of stuff away, but if there is any extra toys around, I know of two young boys and two teenage girls that could use them.
