Hi Ellen,

1st let me say that my 23 yr old daughter (who is currently living with me)and I LOVE your show! We tape it while we're working and the 1st thing we do when we come home is watch it-even before eating dinner. It is therapeutic for us to laugh after stress at the office.

The reason I am writing is to ask you to consider helping friends of mine. They are a young couple who have a 3 yr old and bought a new house a few years go, found out they were having twins so she stopped working and a month later found out he had Leukemia. He was a plumbing construction foreman and had to completely stop working. He went through a yr of chemo but shortly after the cancer came back. He is now back in the hospital getting more chemo and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. But to be able to have that he needs to get in remission. They were told he only has a 20-30 % chance of that. He has no life insurance for the family, they can't get medicaid since he gets disability, their health insurance will reach it's cap soon and their truck is in need of repair. They were told it would be $3000 to fix. The disability only pays other bills-their parents had to take over their mortgage payments so they wouldn't loose their house as they fell behind 3 months, but don't know how long they can keep that up. She gets milk and formula from the WIC program but that's it. She is overwhelmed, fearful of what will happen if or when her husband dies, how she could afford day care for 3 little ones if she has to go to work. She doesn't want to move her family out of their house and have to live with her parents-they already have a son who just divorced and moved back in with them. It is heart breaking talking to her. I visited and helped with the babies-took the 3 yr old for a bike ride and to the park but that is a drop in the bucket. She needs so much help physically, emotionally and financially. Through it all she tries to be so strong and positive but she is really hurting. ANYTHING you could do would give her such a lift. Thanks for your consideration and God bless you for all you do everyday-you are a blessing! Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey Ellen. Me and my mom are such big fans of you and your show. My name is Espy and I'm 14 years old. Well I have a poem to write to you and I want to hear your opinion of what you think of my poem. Because people say I'm such a good writer but I don't really believe them so I want to hear what you have to say about my poem. So hear I go. My poem is called Where is my love?

Here I stand alone in the coldness of the rain. For I can't feel anything but numbness itself.
Looking out in the rain for everything is all dim, for the night is not safe anymore.
I'm not safe anymore, for the monster inside me is growing stronger and I am getting weaker.
Walking down the paved road to get away from everyone to protect them from myself.
Including my love for I can't stand to hurt him for one bit. For he needs my protection from the monster.
But where's my protection from the monster? Where is my love when I need him the most?
For he can't protect me from myself. For he don't stand a chance against the monster.
Where is my love to save me from the dark?
For the dark already consumed my body but not my soul, for he can't keep his grip on me any longer.
Where is my love to keep me warm? Where is he to make me smile again?
For the coldness already reached my heart making me ice cold for I can't feel warmth or smile again.
I know where my love is for he is safe in his house, smiling for he is thinking about me.
Can't he see that I'm not safe that the monster is eating up my soul?
No he can't see, but he will feel my pain in every nerve in his body.
Deep in the forest for no one will hear my screams, for no one will be in danger of me anymore.
Looking up at the sky seeing billion of stars shining down, the full moon looking straight at me.
Silent tears came down my face, but when I wiped them away my hand was full of blood.
The monster has already starting to eat my soul. Pain shoot through my whole body. I screamed for it was too unbearable.
I fell to the ground crying out tears of blood, and inside I could feel the monster moving.
My grip was on a gun for I won't let the monster have me. I will take my own life to save the ones I love.
With all of my strength I put the gun next to my head. "Goodbye my love for I will miss you." I whispered as I pulled the trigger.
I could hear the monster scream inside me body for the monster had died.
But the thing is I was still alive but not my body, but my soul. For I saw my body on the ground lifeless. I'm stuck in the in between roaming the Earth to find a way out of here.
At least I could watch over my love. For he asks in his mind Where is my love? Where did she go?

Thanks for taking your time to read this. I hope you liked it. Please Write me back your opinion of my poem Thanks a bunch. Bye.
Love, Espy

Dear Ellen

First off let me say I absolutely love your show. Not only are you funny but you are generous and kind hearted.

I am not writing for myself but for my neighbor, she is 24 years old and has MD and is in a wheelchair that is always in need of repair. Currently the brain on her wheelchair has died and she is unable to attend school or leave her apartment. The company that fixes the chair said the part won't be in for another week so she is stuck at home. I am also currently trying to find her a hospital bed because the one she has does not recline because something is wrong with the wires. If there is anything you can do to help her it would be greatly appreciated. She is a wonderful girl and has such a good spirit inspite of her disabilities.

Thank you
Le-Teisha

Dear Ellen,
My mom and I watch your show every day!!! We love to watch you dance and show how enthusiactic you are. My name is Jessica and I'm 22 and a single mother of a soon to be 4 year old and I have another baby on the way. I live with my parents and we are in alot of trouble. My dad is the most amazing man I have ever met. He has been providing for my family at every expence possible. He use to work for a huge company and out of no where one day they let him go. Well ever since then we have been struggling. He got another job w a different company but unfortunalty the person running it let it hit rock bottom and my dad was let go from there. He then became project manager in Feb of the company that took over the other company but yet again they pulled the rug out from under him and let him go. My dad has made so many sacrafices for our family. He had to give his truck, his baby, back because he couldnt afford the payments anymore and now we are about to loose my moms car because we cant afford it. We are also about to loose our home. I have lived in this house since I was 7 and I cant bare the thought of not living here anymore. I raised my daughter here and was planning on raising my son here too. We need 6200 dollars by December 1st to save our house or it goes up for auction Jan. 26th. Please Ellen if you can do anything to help us save our house. It would mean the world to me and my family. My dad is a very proud n prideful man and has a hard time asking people for help. He doesnt even know I'm writing you. So please if at all possible help us save our house. Thank you for your time in reading this.

Merry Christmas Honey!

Dear ELLEN,
I'm 14 years old and a huge fan of yours because your so cool & so funny. Your show is totally awesome! I watch it everyday after school & i was like she's an angel! when you said you'll give the audience a copy of Justin Bieber's My world because I'm dying to get one but it isn't out yet here in the Philippines & I'm so worried that i won't get the golden ticket, i don't know if the contest applies to our country though. I hope someday I'll get to see you & Justin personally. :)

Dear Ellen,
I am a single parent and have been spending the past 2 years going back and forth to Bethesday,MD...You see my son Christopher was "Doc" attached to the 1-1 alpha co. when their platoon got ambushed and the enemy shot an I E D at my sons head. Christopher is doing GREAT but has had to have 9 brain surgeries and lost his right eye. He is a really GREAT person and the government is taking care of him so far.
However, I am permanently disabled and my finances have fallen apart during this past two years.
I just wanted to thank you for all the laughter that you provided so many men, moms and nurses @ The National Navy Medical Center. It was a reprieve from life threatning decisions having to be made daily, and most of the time hourly.
I am in need of a smaller truck or car to be able to drive him to his continuous re-habs, and doctors appts. I know that this is s shot in the dark but, so was the shot in the dark that changed my son family and my life permanently to pay for all of our freedom. You ALWAYS say that there is hope. I sure hope you get to read this little note.
Love you and all that you do for others. What an incredibly generous person you are. I have been on your program in the audience before and would love to come again!!!! Thabks for being the beautiful, giving human being that you are!
Would love to meet you someday when I am famouse and have written my book. The title of it will be "WHO IN THE HELL THREW ROUND-UP IN MY GARDEN??" LOL Just a little reverse psychology!
Thank you for your time to read this!
Debbie Braley :)

I go through my day to day routine of looking for work, and house chores, and everyday at 5pm, I tune in, and your audience, and yourself, make my afternoon with all of the funny comments and things that are done on the show. I am a big fan of yours, and really enjoy it. Keep up the good work. Hopefully one day my boyfriend and I will have the opportunity to fly to CA and be in the audience soon. Once again, keep up the good work, you are a gift from god.

Best regards,

Hi Ellen,

My name is Allen and I live in Tarboro, NC. You may have heard of it. We were nearly devastated by a flood brought on by hurricane Floyd in '99. But that's a story for another time. The real reason I'm writing you is because I watch your
show and I know you like human interest stories. I believe I have one living next door to me. In 2002 our neighbor, Curtis Bearden, started putting up Christmas light displays to celebrate the birth of a new baby girl, who they named Autumn. Since then, it has grown into a major event. He now decorates over 4 acres in light scenes every year; there is a visit from Santa and a firework display that rivals many cities. And each year he tries to add additional displays. Thousands come from miles around to enjoy the celebration. I have talked with some who said they had traveled from Virginia to be here.

He has never charged anyone to drive through his property and enjoy the magnificent light show, but at his daughter's urging (who is now 7), he started accepting donations that could be used to help someone in need. So each year his family picks someone, usually a child, that is battling some serious illness, a burn victim, a cancer patient or someone needing a transplant, etc. and the entire fund they raise goes to that need. Last year they rose over $25k in donations.

He says he's thankful he was blessed with 2 healthy children so he just wants to help someone in need. A non-profit organization has been named for his daughter and he continues to work tirelessly every year to produce this magical display for the community.

There is a website, www.autumnslovinghand.com where you can read more of his story. I realize there may be many stories more interesting, but I believe that for the expense, the caring and hard-work this family invest each year that they should be recognized. And I know with an audience such as yours a little notoriety could go a long way to help their cause. By the way I am in no way associated or related; I am simply a neighbor who get to enjoy this beautiful winter wonderland display in my back yard each year.

Thank you and I hope you can use this story.

Finally, I watch you every day and love your show. I hope your back heals soon....we miss your dancing.

Bless you for being a caring person!

Dear Ellen
While watching your show the other day, you were getting ready to show us your Christmas video with your Mom Tony and Porsha. In a joke you had made the statement about how the Christmas lights are going up eairlier every year. It made me think of an article I had just read in our local paper. (www.pontiacdailyleader.com) It was about Austin and Julie Locke from Washington, getting word that their 28 month old son Dax's battle with acute myeloid leukemia is coming to and end. All medical help has been exhausted and he has very little time to live. Dax's greatest thrill is seeing Christmas decorations especially Christmas lights. A friend of the Locke family, which has been through the same thing, losing their son HunterFeb.09, is asking everyone in our county to take pictures of their decorations and lights and post them on their web site.www.decoratfordax.com for Dax to see. Wouldn't it be great if you could ask all your fans to do the same, and give Dax the one thing he really enjoys? Also, maybe you could give both families some of your Christmas give aways. I know it could never take the place of their boys but it might might give them something to be happy about, even if just for the moment.

Thanks Ellen

PS I don't really know either family, but thought this was such a simple thing to do for a little boy.
