As a long time back pain sufferer, I've learned to STOP CROSSING MY LEGS! You have to stop doing that Ellen. That's the worst thing for your back. Sit straight with both feet flat on the floor and make sure your chair has good low-back support. Also, be sure to do the stretching exercises your doctor or PT has surely given you - every day - to strengthen your back, or you will surely injure it again. There's also cortizone shots that go right into the muscle, but use these sparingly. You will feel IMMEDIATE relief when you get the shot. There's also a heavy blanket type device that your physical therapist can use that has little electrical shocks that feel like little fingers that loosen the muscles after you pull them. You feel fine instantly. Plus, strenghten your stomach muscles to hold your back up. Good luck!
