Learn More About Glamour Magazine's Commitment to Women

Glamour Magazine is running a feature in their November issue about "plus-size" models and the need to represent normal women throughout the fashion world. It includes a nude pictorial of several of these "plus-size" models, which in the modeling world means anyone over size 6!

Four of the women chatted with Ellen today about the experience, and saw the photos for the first time. To read the feature "These Bodies are Beautiful at Every Size," click here.

November Glamour Feature: These Bodies are Beautiful at Every Size     Cindi Leive Post: Are You Ready to Start a Body Image Revolution? Oh, Wait--You Already Did!

The editor-in-chief of Glamour Magazine, Cindi Leive, spoke with Ellen about her commitment to maintain diversity throughout the magazine. She wrote a blog on the magazine's website entitled, "These Bodies are Beautiful at Every Size," which can be read here.

Crystal Renn, one of the models, spoke about her past struggle with her body image. She has written "Hungry," in which she reflects upon the issues facing models and young women today. To learn more or to purchase it, go here.

That was a really good blog!!!

Wonderful article..

You're quite correct with this one.

This makes perfect sense to anyone...

You couldnt be more on the money.

I do not disagree with this article!!!

This post could not be more precise!!

Wonderful blog post...

This makes great sense...

I agree completely...

This might be the best piece on here...

I've always been a fan of plus-size models! There's a great site with many images of Crystal and other plus-size models here:

They're all gorgeous.

The site's forum also has thought-provoking discussions about body image and the media.

Ellen, My girlfriend is 35 years old and is the mother of one. She is 5'6", weighs 110 lbs and is beautiful, but has endured a lifetime of ridicule about her size. The only way she has been able to break the 100 lb mark is by working out as a result of a co-worker saying "you need to have a sandwich or ten". She eats regularly and in a healthy fashion. She is what I call a "clean plater". She DOES NOT have an eating disorder. She is a huge fan of your show as am I, but you may have lost two viewers as you hurt her feelings and made me angry with your comments. She is genetically small. Her father is 63 years old and has a 30" waist. To say size 0 or 00 should not be manufactured is ludicrous. Should all sizes 12 and above be eliminated as well? She has a very difficult time buying clothes that fit. I only wish she had the choices that are available to the larger segment of our society. The models on your show were beautiful, but do they have eating disorders? No, I am certain they do not. Do you get the point, Ellen? You are a wonderful spokesperson, let it be for all women, large and small.

Ellen, I try to watch your show everyday. As a stay at home mother of 2 your show is MY hour of escape. Thank you! I was, I must say, a bit disappointed yesterday at your comments about size 0 women. I have always been a 'small sized' girl and found it shocking that you would accuse ME of having an eating disorder! As someone who knows how it feels to be discriminated against I thought you would have better cooth. AND, what about your WIFE?? Just remember, whether your over weight or under weight it hurts JUST THE SAME to be called a fatso or anorexic! Please rethink your statement and your attitude towards your 'smaller' viewers. You could learn a LOT from a simple Dove commercial!!!

Hi Ellen, Im just watching the 'plus size models' interview and can I please say from the bottom of my heart as a mother of an annorexic daughter...A huge Thankyou! My Gemma has been annorexic since she was 6 years old and is now nearly 17. She's in remission at this stage but there's always that fear of her going backwards permanently. We've been able to 'tweak' her if I notice she is going backwards but this type of promotion is fantastic and hopefully we'll see more of it. Gemma never looks at skinny people and wants to be the same, she's frightened of being 'fat'. Once again as a mum whose been fighting for her daughter for 10years thankyou

Ellen, I love your show everyday but especially today. I have ALWAYS had issues and insecurities about my weight. Even when I was in HS and weighed 115lbs and was a sz 0 I felt embarassed. I have since had 2 little gitls and gained weight. I feel so ashamed sometimes that I don't want to see people from my past. Watching your show today has given me a since of pride and confidence I didn't know I had in me. I know you weren't trying to be hurtful when saying "no one is a size 0" it's not in your nature, but what you said about "real women" made me feel so good about myself. I have been sick for the past week only showered once, and for the first time in who knows how long I actually felt sexy in my own skin, Thank you for that.
Always Love,
Amie

My daughter is 5'6" and weighs under a 100 lbs and wears a 00 size. she is 14 yrs old. She does not have a eating disorder. Their are alot of teenage girls that are in between little girl size and juniors. A 00 size allows these girls to wear junior sizes instead of having to wear little girls cloths. So, I disagree with your comment that there should not be a 00 size.

Dear Ellen,

There are many of us out here that are size 0 and hate it. We don't all have eating disorders. That is just the way I am and many others. I am sure you didn't mean or realize what you were suggesting regarding women that are size 0 must have an eating disorder. I would hate to see size 0 disappear I would have nothing to wear. It is hard to find those sizes without spending a fortune. I wish everyday that I could walk into a department store and buy an outfit for less than $100.00.

Bless your heart! I love your show, but remember us that are extremely small is not always by choice!

Ellen,
After seeing your show today I wanted to write and let you know of a book a friend recently lent me. We are both breast cancer survivors. I was commenting on the insecurities I now have since my radical mastectomy and she wanted me to look at this book. It is called "Bodies and Souls" and consists of nude pictures of women. ALL SHAPES AND SIZES. It shows how beautiful all women are, not only on the outside but their inner beauty as well. If you get the chance, please pick up a copy. I wish all women could read this book. Thank you,
Linda
