Message from Ellen -- Week of October 5 - 9

Ellen DeGeneres' American Idol Message!

They say time flies when you're having fun. And they're right. I had such a great time this week that I can't believe it's already Friday. It seems like only yesterday it was Thursday.

Honestly, it would have been impossible for me not to have had fun this week. I mean, I got to race Heidi Klum, play Guesstures with Felicity Huffman, and I saw more of Andy than I ever dreamed possible.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month started this week. We'll be helping to raise money for Susan G. Koman for the Cure by selling pink merchandise online. We also had Melissa and Ade from "So You Think You Can Dance" on the show to do a beautiful, moving dance inspired by breast cancer. And we brought back our dunk tank for the month.

Next week, we're hoping the dunk tank becomes "The Hunk Tank." We've got plenty of hunks who could dunk or be dunked; Rob Lowe, Clive Owen, Jason Bateman and Tobey Keith are all stopping by the show.

And, I'm planning another Twitter challenge. I can't tell you when or where we're going to be tweeting next, but I can give you a hint: it's going to be soon and it's going to be somewhere.

So, start following me this weekend. If you already follow me, then get three of your friends to follow me. After that you can relax, have a great weekend and keep checking those tweets.

See you next week!

-Ellen

Thank you for having Jim Carrey as a guest. I love him and the two of you are a super laugh combination.
Last week you mentioned how difficult it was to find a VCR. I started recording your program on my VCR, set for every week day morning when I was working and couldnt watch till I got home from work. Now I'm retired and still record it every day so I can sleep in and watch as soon as I get up. Dont know what I'll do when the VCR quits working? I dont think they make them anymore.

Ellen,

Thanks for all that you do for others and especially for your help in the fight against breast cancer. Your smile, fun-loving spirit, and care for others is wonderful.

Dear Ellen, You are the greatest!! I love you for your gift of giving & the love you have for all & also animals. It's wonderful what you do for Oct breast cancer month & the money you raise for it. We live in Peachtree City, Ga & FYI..My husband goes to garage sales every weekend he can & comes home with stuff we truly don't need!! You don't dare tell him what you collect or like cause if he see's it at a garage sale he will buy it for you..for instance..my friend's kitchen is decorated with roosters & he keeps buying her more roosters...He also likes to sneak stuff in & put it on display in our house (like as if I won't notice) I eventually find it!!! He just bought about 10 shot glasses from different countries & states..he said, he bought them for my collection..I only had a few from where we had vacationed...NOW!!!??!! I guess I do have a collection of shot glasses..My brother-in-law lives in Ca & he collects sailboats..now everytime my husband see's a sailboat..he is packing it up to take to Ca..I could go on & on...my husband actually collects pez dispensers & that is his excuse to garage sale...so there you have it!!! Just thought I would share this with you...thanks for being you..& you are welcome to visit us here in PTC & go for a golfcart ride with us around the lake!! You would love it!! Sincerely, Jeanne

Ive been a fan for a long time, i watch your show sometimes twice a day its one of the few things that calms me and gets my mind off of everything. You see this last summer has been the worst I've ever had,it started with my aunts dog dieing,(i save him from a conn. drug house)then a couple of months latter she died, she was my best friend, then two of our dear friends died then my father died whom i loved dearly and sometime in that same period my cat that i had of 20 years died. And to top it all off my fridge and car died Ive been so depressed because of all the deaths i and my family have endured this last summer, your show for me is the time that my brain takes a time out.I wish I was making it all up but i'm not,but time is supose to heals all wounds.Ill never be able to see you in person but thank you for being there and being extremly funny. thank you once again Lorri

My aunt has cancer. She has been diagnosed with breast and lymphnode cancer and has underwent a double mastectomy. She is currently going through chemo and radiation treatments. She is a wonderful woman and has always been there for everybody. Her name is Debbie...please pray for her. All prayers will be deeply appreciated.

Hi Ellen!! I LOVE your show..I watch it every chance I get...I am planning on trying to come and see a show sometime next year and I can't wait. I am 16 weeks pregnant with my first child and I wish I was gonna be pregnant on the mothers day show I would definatly get a ticket for that one!!! You are such an inspiration and not to mention HILARIOUS, I am looking forward to American Idol this year, you will be a great addition.

Ellen,
I love your show. You have a big heart and I know God is smiling down on you. Your love for your mom just warms my heart because that's the way I felt about my mother. One day I hope to get to see your show.
KEEP ON DANCING!

Hi Ellen ! You are the greatest. I am looking for nothing other than to share. I have terminal cancer of the chest (I am a male), and I am able to get around on my own fairly well at this point. I can still drive, etc, as well. I am a Boston guy at 53 years old, and your show makes my day. I know so many people at Boston Med.Cntr. that they would give a guided tour. They even wrote a story for me, regarding the hell and heaven I had gone through, as well as their amazing help. I wrote a guide to stop movers from ripping off consumers. I am a moving consultant (40 years/with 20 yrs. in sales). If anybody wishes free help, email me and I will give you a million dollars of help for free. davidthemovingwatchdog@yahoo.com Sincerely
David Howard

Hi Ellen,

Just want to say how much joy you bring to my life. I tape your show everyday while I am at work and can't wait to watch it when I get home. I am so thankful for what you are doing for Breast Cancer awareness. I was diagnosed in 2003 and had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. I was fine for 5 years, but unfortunately the cancer metastized to my spine, and I am now taking an oral chemo pill. I thank God everyday when I wake up for another day and know my cancer is being treated. Being positive is the most important thing and it helps with the support of family, friends and people like you. You make me laugh so much. Keep up what your doing. Regards, Karen Sabino

Thank you for your efforts in keeping breast cancer awareness in the forefront! I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2007. I was 57 years old at the time and had my own legal assistant business for over 19 years. Due to my diagnosis, my business was closed and now I work from home. I am happy to be alive and your show has been very instrumental in keeping my spirits up. Thank you, again for being you!!!

Hello Ellen!

I just want to thank you so much for bringing sunshine into my life each and every day. If I find myself in a depressed mood, all I have to do is to turn on the Ellen DeGeneres Show; keep on doing what you do so well. I have gone through 36 treatments of radiation and now am on a pill I will probably have to take for the rest of my life, but the good Lord has brought me through so many storms. PRAISE GOD, I am alive. Thank you for raising money for the Breast Cancer cause; you are a wonderful inspiration to all who have come to know you Ellen.

Blessings always,
Mona

Hi Ellen,I had been looking for a cat food with all the right stuff for awhile. Online, I got down to the top 50 and picked 5 brands by name and user star ratings. Halo was my second and it had 5 stars. I read the reviews and when I saw you were co owner, Bam, this is it! Cuz shes wild 4 animalz too. Other than Jack Hanna or Betty White, you 3 are the best. Dogs can live w/out meat. Cats cannot. So the no. 1 thing was a quality meat (not by product, corn meal, gluten etc.). Next a healthy mix vitamins/supplements. The first thing I noticed was how good it smelled after opening that super swell ziploc bag. Ollie was gettin over being poisoned, so I figured it would take a week of mixing old brand w/ Halo. By Day 3, all halo. Her purr and smile were back, her fur improved, no stinky cat box odor and she loves me for her Yummy Halo. She does tricks she's bad at, to get more Halo all the time. She does not like the can food but I bet alot of people would eat it. In fact, I put the can leftover in a tuper ware bowl and my mom tried to give to my friend thinking it was her stew. I wildly spouted, "No mom, wait, thats the best cat food ever. Dont just give it away." Anyway I am telling evry1, evry chance I get, about Halo. Not in a pushy pit bull way but like a collie, truthful and helpful. Price per pd Halo goes so much further than hi end or low end foods. Thats because every bite is giving kitty the perfect food. Thank you Cathy Mckee

Hi Ellen,
Your show helps me fight my depression every morning. My Father has been fighting cancer for almost 30 yrs. He was told he had 3 mths to 20 yrs. to live and he's still hear, a BIG THANK YOU to GOD for that. He has had all the treatments plus vitamins and herbs. He spends most of his days sleeping and doctors don't know why as he is cancer free. Most likely depression, like me. Depression is a horrible disease, too. You make me laught and for one hour you make me forget that I am depressed, I thank you so VERY much!.
Sandra from Northern Canada.
ps. I can't get your Halo pet food up here or enter any of your contests. :(

Hi Ellen, I want to thank you for your great efforts in raising funds for breast cancer research. My sister found a lump a couple of years ago and as a result went through kemo and radiation treatments. She was so brave. She'd get up in the morning, go get her treatment, and then put in a full day at the office. I'm so proud of her! Then this past December after my mammogram, I was called back for more pictures. As a result of their findings, I decided to have a biopsy. Based on my sister's experience and the numerous cases of various cancers in my mom's side of the family, it was something I knew I needed to do. And sure enough, it was cancer!! But all is well with both of us now. We have one good set of ta-tas between us!! So stress to your viewers to get mammograms! All breast cancers aren't found by examinations. Thank you!!

I will pray for everyone cancer is EVIL

Just a plain old comment. I love you and your show. I am 70, don't tell anyone! I am a 20 year cancer survivor, praise the Lord! I enjoyed your show all week. I also love animals and appreciate Jack Hanna.
Maybe some day you will do a show in or near Boston and I can try to get to see it. I don't fly so I won't be seeing it in CA. Another chance would be if you return to do another show from NY. I,too, am looking forward to American Idol with you as a judge. God bless you and all you do for breast cancer and other causes you have helped. You are what I would be if I had talent or resources, but i do what little I can. There are so many to help. I really need to write a book. Maybe soon.
Love to your beautiful wife and blessings to you.
Shirley B.
