Video of the Day: David Spade Gets a Scare from Ellen

David Spade came to the show and talked with Ellen about all he's doing to support firefighters. He's even hosting a free comedy show for firefighters and their families. Of course, since David is Ellen's friend and Halloween is so close, she couldn't let him leave the show without one big surprise! Watch to see how she scares David here.

Hi Ellen,
My 7 year old daughter was sick today and couldn't go to school. We were watching the segment with David Spade. She laughed soooo hard and kept having me rewind the segment and every time she would laugh harder and harder. Thanks for cheering up my daughter.
Sincerely,
Bobbi Jo

I am your biggest fan in Maine, and my husband as well. We watch every day, You always make us laugh specially w/Tonys photos. I would love to be able to get in on your 12 days of give-aways. Your show does a lot of good for people in need with your traveling money-booth and give/away.We have 13 grand children 1 great granddaughter, 5 children between us. Holidays are something else. So thank you for your fantastic show and good entertainment,Maybe some day I can see your show in person.... Ann C

Ellen I watch your show everyday and LOVE IT. I am a 64yr Grandmother and have my Grandkids watching too. I love what you do to TONY (Photos) Does he know there coming up or do you tell him? I Love the way he laughs. And when poor ANDY comes out in those shorts his face is so priceless I hope he gets paid good money HA HA I bet they would do it for FREE because i think everyone LOVES YOU just as much as i do. LORRAINE

I use to be in the community but some how I can't be in it because my password doesn't seem to connect. Anyway as I was reading some information about how to get a good night sleep, what I would recommend is melatonim with B6. Swallow it about a half hour before one wants to go to sleep. Make sure you don't use it as a suppository.

Your show remains #1 to me, my two daughters & my youngest daughter's partner!! Also, I've always loved David Spade!!!

Thanks for all you do to entertain us!!!

Would it help me get on your show if I told you that I was Michael Jackson's long lost sister? Remember my name is Ethel Jackson. Yes or No????

List of foods for a good sleep

Meats

Sleep-inducing bedtime snacks

An all-carbohydrate snack, especially one high in junk sugars, is less likely to help you sleep. You'll miss out on the sleep-inducing effects of tryptophan, and you may set off the roller-coaster effect of plummeting blood sugar followed by the release of stress hormones that will keep you awake. The best bedtime snack is one that has both complex carbohydrates and protein, and some calcium. Calcium helps the brain use the tryptophan to manufacture melatonin. This explains why dairy products, which contain both tryptophan and calcium, are one of the top sleep-inducing foods.

Examples of sleep-inducing bedtime snacks:

glass of warm milk with honey is one of the oldest and best remedies for insomnia.
apple pie and ice cream
whole-grain cereal with milk
hazelnuts and tofu
oatmeal and raisin cookies, and a glass of milk
peanut butter sandwich, ground sesame seeds (It takes around one hour for the tryptophan in the foods to reach the brain, so don't wait until right before bedtime to have your snack.)
slice of whole wheat toast topped with a small slice of low-fat cheese
1/2 cup healthy cereal topped with 1/2 cup skim milk
banana with 1 teaspoon of peanut butter
rice cake topped with a slice turkey breast

Hello Ellen, I would love to win tickets to the World Series, how do I enter? Suzanne

It's me again. Just wanted to let you know I love your show and how you are able to make people laugh no matter how young or old, female or male. I have seen the shows where you surprise people with the money machine. My son and daughter in-law really really could use your help. They have been married for a couple of years have a 19 month old daughter Alexa and one on the way. The stresses of that alone are enough but they also share in the stresses of keeping a roof over their heads and food on the table. They so much deserve this! They both work 2 jobs to keep their heads a float. Have little time and little money for themselves. They have 2 vehicles that are both on their last leg and with a baby and one on the way sure could use a little help. If you could help them out to relieve some of their stress it would be greatly appreciated. They live in Duluth Mn, and I live in NY and do what I can. Thanks Ellen! Katie

hey, this is the most confusing sight i have ever been on. .. but this is more to the people that work with ellen than herself. perfect halloween gag. make that her chair on stage look normal but is a break away and when she sits down after her dance it gives away to a person ie monster.. don't let her fall or anythng but it"s a character that hidden in her everday chair. just my thoughts of how to get her. i enjoy the show and really look forward to you guysfor once getting a good one on her...lol
Happy halloween
Chris Casey

My mom loves watching Ellen. The doctor said that laughter is the best medicine. So yea she laugh when David Spade got scared. I love coming in and hearing my mother laugh. You see my mom has cancer in 3 areas of her body and now the chemo has given her cirrohis of the liver which is irreverible. She still works in order for her to keep her medical. I just want to say thank you to Ellen for what she does for my mother.
