Ayalim Association - Student and Entrepreneurial Settlement

Ayalim Association is an association promoting settlement and society in the Negev and Galilee

The idea behind Ayalim Association:
Ayalim Association was founded in 2002 by a group of young former IDF soldiers, with the purpose of strengthening Jewish settling and social involvement in the Negev and Galilee regions. The goal of the Association is to revive an Israeli model of settlement driven by young people through creation of ideological climate and renewing the idea of Zionism - as a model matching the 21st century. This effort is accompanied by emphasis on education to Zionist values, young entrepreneurship in preferred areas and fostering of values such as the bond between man and land and between individual and society.
The Way:
The implementation of the settlement network is achieved through the foundation of student and entrepreneur villages serving as pillars of social involvement and permanent settlement. The objective is to make these villages into bases for acquaintance with the region and its potential. The villages will combine settlement and social making intended to advance the society and education in the Negev and Galilee.
In return for the scholarship and discounted housing in the villages each student works app. 500 annual hours with children from development towns and participates in the special projects of the Association - such as building gardens in development towns, renovations in local schools, clubs, neighborhoods, etc. This activity is driven by the understanding that the project's success lies in correct combination of the individual needs and national objectives.

The numbers speak for themselves:
At present, the Association lists 500 students, living in eight student and entrepreneur villages across the Negev and Galilee. The students in these villages, such as "Adiel" in Ashalim, the urban and rural villages in Dimona, Yachini, Beer-Sheva, Neve-Or, Akko and Kiryat Shmona are already generating a tangible change in the Israeli periphery in particular and in the future of the State of Israel in general. These volunteer students work with more than 5,000 kids who enjoy activities, academic support and social help.
Corroboration:
The idea of the Association attracted not only students engaged in academic studies in the Negev and Galilee regions, but also governmental bodies and private donors from Israel and abroad, headed by the Mirage Foundation, The Jewish Agency, SAKTA RASHI Foundation, Settlement Division, Jewish National Fund (JNF) and other organizations from around the world.
We see corroboration and unity of forces as an important value in the promotion of the idea.
