New Ellen Dictionary Entry!

Check out the new phrase we just added to the Ellen online dictionary!

scarell
verb, scarelled

Definition: Scaring someone in a way that is so well thought out and so unexpected that the victim has virtually no chance of not being terrified. Because of the immense planning involved, it usually takes years of failed scaring attempts on a particular person before this technique is deemed necessary. The cooperation of hundreds of onlookers to not "tip off" the victim is often required for success.

Usage:

i lost our son he passed away then 3 weeks later we lost our home to a fire. my 2 daughters my husband and my mom and my sons little girl lived with us now me my husband and one daughter lives in a 3 room house our home is almost done but we are in need of flooring and siding i have called every building center but no help i am not asking for a new house are a car but for my family to be together again ellen i no if you can make a call they will do anything for you because you are ellen i remember when a family would be in trouble and everyone would chip min all we need to be almost hole is flooring and siding please help my family and for my grangdaughter and mom to be home again i have tried everything please help my family in missouuri plus someone stole our family dog what is the world coming to i have a horse i will give to you it's all i have to give i love her but i will part with her for help so we can be together again it is all i have left to give so please e-mail me even f it is to say you cannot help i have treid everything even the home make over show but our house is almost done so they cannot help

Hi Ellen, here's an amazing rescue story that I read about yesterday and wanted to share. Couldn't email the suggested way, so thought this might work. Jackie There are great photos too, but they wouldn't email. She is a beautiful dog.


Jo was likely alone for three weeks in the backcountry before Dave rescued her.

The St. Bernard is known for rescuing humans in the mountains but now a human has come to the rescue of a St. Bernard.

The incredible story begins when a Calgary firefighter went on vacation in British Columbia.


Dave and his girlfriend Sandy found the St. Bernard at the bottom of a ravine in the backcountry at Josephine Falls.


"I start whistling and she lifts up her head, looks around and flops down...so I scrambled down," says Dave.


The female dog was about 91 metres (300') at the bottom of a steep, loose rock cliff.


When Dave reached the bottom, he knew the dog was in dire straights. "She came to me but she was so skinny and weak and she was shaking and then she just flopped down."


The couple had to leave the crying dog behind and raced to Elkford to get help. Some locals and a couple of volunteer firefighters answered their call. When they returned, the dog had somehow managed to claw her way out of the ravine and they found her collapsed on the grass.


With no collar, tattoo or micro chip, Dave checked with locals, the RCMP and SPCA shelters in Cranbrook and Blairmore but nobody had reported a lost St. Bernard.


Dave didn't want to leave the dog behind so he brought her home to Calgary and has named her Jo.


Once back in the city, they went to a vet and Jo was treated for malnourishment, dehydration and a serious infection.


Jo has had surgery and is now recovering at her new home with Dave and she seems indebted to her rescuer. "If I get up to go outside, she's right behind me. She doesn't want to be left alone so I'm just going to spoil her for a bit but she's worth it," says Dave.


Dave says the story has touched all his friends so much that they are lined up to help care for her when he's at work.

hi ellen my family and i are huge fans of your show. we watch it when ever we can. and we would love some disney tickets! i think it would be fun for me and my 3 brothers and 5 sisters (not counting me)it would also be an amazing mothers day gift for my mom who works so hard everyday for us. and expecially because my dads job causes him to travel a lot. my family of 9 kids and 2parents would love to go to diseny world expecially my 6sister. my brothers and i have been wanting to go to diseny world.

I watch your show from down under.... Love it. Your made up words like, (Scarell) are the same as mine when I play scrabble. Would be nice if we could write our own dictionary. LOL

Someone has to hear. Someone has to care? Apparently people need help feeding & caring for their pets. The numbers are increasing of those neglected, lost, abandoned. I SEE IT!! almost everyday.
I write & write & write on the internet about what is happening. I tell & speak & tell EVERYONE what i know, what we've seen & they shrug it of or even give me strange looks. Dogs, cats everywhere behind buildings, in store parking lots, lying in the grass at my church, i notice them in surrounding fields, at the library, Walmart p. lot, YOU NAME IT, begging for attention, for food, for their lives. Sunday night I woke up to the sound of barking dogs. My 2 dogs were going crazy because
the sensed them outside. When i looked i found 8-10 maybe more dogs, of all sizes barking & running all about the yard. I live in Live Oak, Florida, & the nearest neighbor is 1 acres away. I hope we didn't wake them because the noise was LOUD at 2 am ! These dogs had overturned my garbage, were hungry, lost & alone. I thought to myself, how sad BUT I can't feed 8 more dogs, we are struggling to pay our bills, with the price of food, electric, insurance, taxes etc. I had to make them leave but how? Well, this took 3 hours ! before the silence came. I tried to shoo them off to no avail. They were wagging their tails one minute & fighting each other the next. My babies were shut inside safe from the fight. I finally got a cooking pot & a spoon & started banging & shooed them off. Talk about loud. They still didn't leave until 5 am, i guess they found little food & left. I thought to myself it is bad enough in public to see neglect, but now this is
following me home! SOMEONE has to help- people in need with the means to feed their pets so they are not abandoned or left to stray! Mine will NOT, God willing, but the numbers of hungry, neglected strays are increasing.... I feel for them & love them all...but can not take on any more. I hope they don't return tonite, we need our rest! I know at least 10 families who have over 6 or more dogs EACH ALL STRAYS! because we all own 1-10+ acres & thought we can take care of them & struggling now w/ VET VISITS, FOOD everything including our needs!Hey if anyone wants a THOROUGHBRED dog DON"T pay for one there are literally 100's here in Live Oak FLORIDA in desperate need of homes! Labs, Shepard's, Pit bulls, Dachshunds, Huskies, YOU NAME IT!!!! OH and I DIDN”T even tell U what I see & know about cats, kittens abandoned everywhereeeee! With this economy people are shunning their pets to live on the streets in EPIDEMIC PROPORTIONS! I will not rest until someone hears & HELPS! God save these neglected, underprivileged children. Seemingly so alone in this LOST IN THE SUNSHINE (ha) STATE

I tried to go to the place where you you would put a word on your mugs.. I have a word for you.. when my daughter was about 1 and a half years old.. we were eating dinner, I asked her to eat some more, and she looked at me, rubbed her tummy and said.... mommy, i cant eat any more, im gonna "gasploed ", meaning explode, she is now 15, and I still say to her, I cant eat anymore or I will GASPLOED... tehehe

Steve Carell is so great. It's a shame some people turn the show off because he's on because he's one of my favorite guests to watch on the various episodes he's been on. Scaring people like that is mean though (even if it is hysterically funny) and props to your audience for not giving anything away! lol

this story is so true everytime i go to work i scare people but most of the time i don't mean to but then other when i do want to scare them they don't know what happend and its true they don't have anytime to get away because there heart stopped and they don't know what to do but wat every you do make sure there not near any hard objects lol luv ya
