When he was just starting out, he performed magic shows at children's birthday parties.

He was once voted the Best Dressed Man in America by Esquire magazine.

He won a Best Actor Oscar on his first nomination in 2003.

For his Oscar-winning role, he lost 30 lbs. and learned to play Chopin on the piano.

hi ellen i just wanted to thank you, thank you so much for every day ... for very recently i was dignose with the same kind of cancer of Farrah Facet, and i had to do chemo. and every day redeation it was so very hard I would be so tired . And days fell so sick but your show would come on when I came home, even my 11 yr. old son would watch your show with me instead of cartones. we would laugh with you you really helped us forget all our problems at least for the moment. I hope some day we can see your show in person again thank you for having this show and mostly just being you..

Hi Ellen,
I just want to thank you for your great show and for helping me through my recuperation. I had open heart surgery-triple bypass in mid April, 2009. I couldn't watch you for a month because it hurt too much when I laughed. But by mid May I was watching you everyday. It was the highlight of my day and kept me on course to a speedy recovery. I am able to go back to work next week, July 1, 2009 and credit my days of laughter and enjoyment with you as a key healing factor. Someday I hope to visit California and be in your audience. Ahhhhh :) hello Ellen, I'm probably sure your not reading this there are so many people commenting how funny you are.. And they are right!! Sooooo anywho I hope your reading this because it would make me super happy to know my favorite star was reading something I wrote. Oh well I guess I will never ever know. I love you time infinity and four Ellen you always make me smile. And don't tell anyone but when I'm alone, I dance just like you. ;) you rock.. Truly your biggest fan..

Hi Ellen, Thanks for the funny shows, i loved it! We always go to Indiana to take care of my husband's mothers house,she pass away 2 years ago and we are still cleaning and fixing it up. We watch your show on our breaks and you and the things you do on your show makes us laugh. We live in Colorado Springs and we don't have much time when we get here in the small town of Centerville but we enjoyed your show. We'll be in LA for our 13 year anniversary and thanksgiving. Could we have a ticket for your show, so that we could see your awesome show. I wish we could. we could not see Oprah but I hope you would let us. Thanks a lot and good luck!

Hi Ellen!

I'm an RN & have been for 37 years (yikes!)--I work 12 hour shifts-6p-6a (double yikes!)and I always try to watch your show before heading in to help moms have babies and then how to take care of them. Your show always gives me a lift and puts me in a good mood! Who wants a grumpy nurse? I have worked in a lot of areas (including management) but like being with the moms and babies best. Thanks for making my job and world alot happier!

My name is Bobbi Pickens I am 30 years old and I am from Texas. I am a full-time student going for my bachelors degree in education and I am a mother of two and married for 11 years. I absolutely love your show!! I am actually planning on stealing your dance idea to incorperate it into my classroom. I DVR your show everyday just so I can watch it whenever I am most stressed out that day because I can be in the worst mood and watch your show and my whole attitude changes! Hello- I am in Australia...and noticed that Ellen's birthday is on our Australia DAy..Jan 26- therefore I think it would be a good idea, conisdering that Ellen is now married to an Australian..she should have an Australian birthday party-with australian theme, food and guests..I am coming to USA in Sept-October 2009 and would love to show her how to do this, complete with surprising my USA friends.!
