When It's On

Hey Ellen,
I was watching your show yesterday 7/10/09 and was moved my the stimulus package that you surprised 1 college student with. She's the Ramen noodle eating young lady who has the heart to go hungry and feed her dog instead of herself. What a selfless act of generosity. I'm writing today because I'd be more than happy to be so lucky, as to participate in your stimulus package. I'm a 31 year old female, who last year battled stage III breast cancer. I did Chemo, Had a Radical mastectomy and Lymph Node Dissection as well as Radiation. November 2008 I won a free weekend get-a-way to Kohler Spa (yay)... not even in the building for 10 minutes and I slip and fall on the marble floor. After months of physical therapy, additional breast cancer surgeries, and of course unbearable pain, May of 2009 we discovered that I had in fact broken a rib in my back (from the fall) and the cancer had returned in that rib. I'm a single gal, working 40 hrs a week, while going through radiation and oral chemotherapy's. We discovered in July 2009 that the cancer is very aggressive and is now in my hips, pelvis, spine, collar bone. I'm trying to come up with enough money to wait the three weeks for unemployment to kick in once my employer lay's me off, upon my request. Once I'm out of work for 5 months I can apply for disability which I do qualify for since my cancer is considered terminal (stage IV). Oh how a few extra dollars would really be a saving grace for me. I never thought that at the age of 31, I'd be retiring from work. But trust me after working 16 years of my life and going through extreme trials and tribs, I'm ready to hang my "Gone Fishin' sigh". Thanks for letting me bend your ear. And ps. I enjoy your dancing. You bring joy to many Ellen D. :)
