Matt Giraud will forever hold the distinction of being the first "American Idol" contestant who the judges saved from elimination. The save earned Matt a few more weeks on the show, but it ultimately wasn't enough. The 23-year-old Michigan native will also be remembered for his stylish headwear and his stirring farewell performance of "My Funny Valentine."

Ellen,
You are a great tv host. I loved it when you had matt Giraud on your show. That was so cool when you were on the piano while Matt was singing. I also can't believe he was able to do the show without missing a note or getting tickled. The show was great.
Sincerely,
Janice Nance
