I'm sure everybody realizes by now that cats don't do much when they don't have to, or there's no stimulation. Maybe Joe could rig up some kind of device that would drag a mouse toy across the floor for Smokey? Or drop one down from the ceiling on a cord? Just a few thoughts on the subject.

Have you tried spray catnip on the condo???
Be patient. I adopted a feral cat once. The rewards are endless. Once he/she has been using the condo, put a piece of clothing you have worn in it - sprayed with catnip, of course. Martha

I remember when you first announced your cat on the show the sneaky little devil, but I can't remember why you named him Smokey. Hey Ellen I have 2 Himalayans and they have their names right that is all they do is HIM-A-LAY-AN all the time. Smokey not a really good name for a cat sorry Ellen. He needs a strong name, Like mine Kingsley and Kamelot. If your Smokey hasn't been fixed I know the reason he may be ferile cat. My female Himalayan was taken to the vet to be spayed. She had been to the vet many times. All our animals are spayed and neutered. Well after poor (Kami) female started her operation we got a call from the vet Kami wasn't a Kami after all she was a male,they say that it's hard to tell because of all the fur,(OK) so she/he had 2 operations in one day and never has been the same since. Maybe Smokey went thru the same thing as we had to change Kami's name to Kamelot since he was a male. Now all he does is hide, eat, and use the litter box. He is scarred for life. I really think you should try and find a cat whisperer. We don't have any in our town it wouldn't work anyway for Kamelot we can't catch him, like you and Smokey.Ours are indoor cats. Rub down his cat condo with lots and lots of catnip, fresh cut is the best it will have the oils in the fresh catnip then watch Smokey A GO GO! Then you will have a new T-shirt Laugh-Dance & I'm in heaven with a picture of Smokey of course.You sure don't want any copyright infringements. Smokey may need a playmate he is bored. Now don't make me fly out there with my normal Himalayan for a playdate Ellen, I just might. You never know, and talk about cat hair whoa have a comb and brush ready if we come to see you. What's been going on with Smokey, Ellen?
Just to digress a little, I've seen Give-Aways on Dr. Phil and Oprah, but yours....they are what makes me the most excited and gives me great joy for the person who wins something, especially now witht the American economy the way it is.
Also, wanted to point out that I saw Friday's The View and a woman was on there showing products and one was your CoverGirl/Olay makeup and I thought, hey, Ellen's their CoverGirl and no one has mentioned it. Hmmmn!

smokey has lots of friends... very popular. He has 3 girlfriends but only one that he is really serious with. He doesn't like to be played with he's ferrel. Smokey is his own boss's boss. He is working on a movie but its top secret. He doesn't smoke but he does drink. He developed a taste of Jack Daniels for some reason.... He likes to play poker and chase the mice. When he sleeps he dreams of mice and men and halo and ellen water. .. a lake of ellen water on a brite sunny day where the banks are teaming with wild mice to catch! He's afraid of plastic.. the sound scares him and it smells plasticy and he doesn't like that. The flowers smell really nice and thinks they are put out for him... a romantic dinner.. table for one.

I love cats, we have two at our house. One of my cats was thrown into my works dining area,so i named him Kizmit cause i guess he was meant to be a part of my family. My kids call me the crazy cat lady but i dont care i love helping animals so i think it is awesome that you go out of your way to give smoky a little love good for you Ellen.
